Welcome to Day 1 of the ODI snake draft round of 16. Some basic rules to consider while voting:

1) Judge players only on the basis of their ODI records.
2) Base your vote on which team you think is more likely to win an ODI between the two.
3) The ground for the match serves only as a representative of the overall playing conditions of its country.
4) The poll will remain open for 24 hours after creation.

Skills has won the toss and has chosen to bat first at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo.

Also worth mentioning, if I lose this I'll probably give up modding this draft.

Consider this fact before voting.

Is Greg maxwell Glenn's brother?

Lara could have been played at 3, kalu wouldn't stay there for too long and it would be ideal time for Lara to get in.

@MJJ. Smith's bowling average (which ever smith it is) is worse than that.

Skills's bowling is not that upto the mark. MJJ has very good batting (except Kalu) until 6. Imran Khan (if it even gets to him), will get a few in the final overs.

Chasing that score, I'd only back Ponting. Attapatu and Astle may give a solid base, but if the chase is big (i.e 280+), there will be too much on Ponting's shoulders. Azhar will fight till the end, but the likes of Samuels have to put up a big innings to get close to that score. Favouring the bermudan triangle for now.
But will wait for the ensuing debates.

Edit: Wait for my Edit. Going for a cup of tea now.

Proper Opinion: The tea was good.

If Skills is batting first, His top 4 have what it takes to take the team to 180-210 in 40 overs. They are all solid and very dependable. If Ponting and to an extent flower are in the mood, even 240. Azhar is very good at getting quick runs and Samuels is more of a big hitter. So a score in the range of 260-300 can be expected. But MJJ's bowling is good. Expecting Imran, Tahir to be standout here, ably supported by Gough. So a more reasonable score would be 260ish.
Chasing that, Kalu might not last long (but then again, he might with this being his home country and also considering Skills's bowling is a little on the weak side). Lara, Smith and Pieterson are fantastic options to come in the MO (Although I don't know about their records in SL), and have what it takes to win the game by the 45th over. Saqlain will thrive here. But who will support him just as well? I reckon probably Kapil. Will it be enough ? Right now, I don't think so. Ntini could be the surprise package here.

Will still wait for other's opinions before voting.

Skills, you might as well have posted the SR's of the team. It's one more column and it matters in an ODI ;)

@MJJ. Smith's bowling average (which ever smith it is) is worse than that.

Its only for the last three years(as defined in the batting section), as he changed from a bowler to batsman. Didnt think it would be fair to choose a different peak definition for his batting and bowling so didnt check what his overall average/first two years is.

The same is true of Imran Khan, have used the same peak for his batting and bowling averages.

Am batting second mate.

Statistically, MJJ is slightly favored. After 1000 simulations, MJJ averaged 211/7, winning 56% of the matches. Skills averaged 206/7, winning 44%.

Did you use the peak definition for both teams?

Its because only pointing averages in the 80s, rest of his batsman have less than 75 SR :D

You better not do this for our game. :p

Oh, damn. then will have to edit my opinion. I saw your write-up and thought you were batting first.

Leaning towards MJJ for now. Skills's batting looks too slow for an ODI especially given the conditions where a high score would be required.
