Obertan to Newcastle for £3m

Getting our money back on him is pretty good business in the circumstances.

He's a cracking player on his day but that day just doesn't happen often enough and that's why he's packing his bags. He has always been a player of vast potential but there hasn't been much improvement over the two years he's been here. Good luck to him, he's going to a decent club and I hope he gets games.

Agreed

Not watching the game but Charlie Nicolas just after saying he has been rubbish with no end product at all. To be fair that sounds like our Obertan

I never had any faith in him and couldn't understand the signing. Bordeaux had no problem letting him go and you could see why from the get go. A dime of dozen.

He's been more than decent when I've caught him for Newcastle. He's running at defenders and getting crosses into the right areas, pretty much like how Valencia plays for us.

Not saying he's as good as Valencia, but at 3 million, he's a bargain for Newcastle.

He's been getting steadily better, bear in mind this is his first regular stint of football in the top flight.

There is every chance he can make 3 mil look like a snip.

Not seen today's game. However, I've had the impression he's looked very ordinary so far for Newcastle.

Most of the time i see them he stands there not really doing anything, waiting for the ball and making little but no effort to do anything else. I can't even remember how he played for us if i'm being honest.

his delivery is poor, and he hardly scored goals either...

I'd say Newcastle is his level at the moment.

I'm happy he got the move because he hasn't really pushed on here and proven he's top drawer. They trust him to start games for them and in time I think he will become an important player for them. The boy has talent, he just doesn't always know how to harness it.

flashy skill but with no end-product and goals, newcastle are welcome to him.

I still think he will come good, very good, time will tell though, and I'll still probably be wrong.

 I posted it because it blew my mind. Dafty fecks up the most basic of footballing technique then comes out with that. Bizarre.

He's an intriguing footballer. Sometimes you'll watch him and think "christ, this guy might just turn out an unbelievable player".

Then next time he runs out you'll think "scratch that, I should have said unbelievably bad".

He's got talent but he seems to lack any sort of heart or desire.

He's a bit of a pussy, he doesn't look for the ball and doesn't really try to impact a game like he can. Frustrating as he's pretty talented.

Still can't get the image out of my head of his first touch for us in his first sub appearance in a proper match when he ran out of bounds with acres of space in front of him.

Never had the gritty mentality to make a big difference on the pitch. At least Ronaldo had balls on the pitch, not just nanny tricks.

Still cracks me up  0:34.
