Nuri Sahin

Borussia Dortmund striker Lucas Barrios has given a not-so-subtle hint that team-mate Nuri Sahin will leave the Ruhr area for Real Madrid this summer.

Two days after Marca reported that Sahin and Madrid have agreed to terms of a transfer, Barrios appeared on Radio Marca to discuss the potential move.

"I think that Real Madrid have made a good purchase. The people in Madrid will like him because he is a great player," the Paraguayan striker said.

Barrios also singled out the 22-year-old Sahin as a likely starter for Madrid, and suggested that the Turkey international will replace Sami Khedira in the Blancos' starting line-up.

"For me it is clear that Nuri will play alongside Xabi Alonso."

On Tuesday, Sahin revealed on his Facebook page that he had yet to decide whether to move to Madrid or to extend his contract at Dortmund.

He stated that he would decide after meeting with the Dortmund directors later this week. Barrios' words suggest the player may be leaning towards a transfer.

:( Oh well. At least Lucas agrees with me that he'd be good next to Alonso

He'd never say he was going there to sit on the bench now will he?

Don't think he'd say that if he was Khedira's team mate rather than Sahin's.

If he was just being nice he'd have said he could compete for Alonso's place. He obviously thinks the two can play together

And its quite obvious Sahin is a better player than Khedira

This transfer feels like it's happening in bullet time and every other top club is frozen to the spot while Madrid just snap up a top talent on the cheap, to think we will be asked to pay more than twice this price for inferior players like Rodwell and Hendferson boggles the mind.

He has said on his Facebook page - bloody hell, everyone does that now nowadays, don't they? - that he will announce a decision at the end of the week regarding his future.

Dortmund, meanwhile, have snatched up talented Ilkay Gündogan from Nuremberg, for a fee of around 5m Euros.

He looks a good player too. A bit different to Sahin though, would surely be more of a replacement for Kagawa

How do Madrid always sign such well known talents for cheap prices?

the talents run their contracts down and madrid make up for it by offering wages almost any other club can't come close to matching.

Madrid either buy good talents on the cheap or stratospheric transfer fees for headline players.

Both sets are payed top wages though.

And Sneijder is better than both of them.

So much for that then.

Probably play a few games for a few seasons then a new manager won't fancy him and move him on.

Madrid is a grave yeard for decent young players in recent years.

Good move from Madrid, their midfield in spite of costing close to £80m isn't really where it should be. Good for them that they moved for him this soon too, avoiding any bidding war.

Well I'm glad they didnt get Banega instead. For over a year I'd suspected they'd go for Banega and play him next to Alonso. Barcelona are unlikely to go in for him especially with Fabregas so that should leave him open when he looks to move on to one of the biggest clubs.

feck, I feel for Canales tbh.

Dortmund calling for presser on Monday, will most likely be announced as a Real Madrid player come next season.

Such a fantastic player.

I actually would not mind Canales coming here. He is still young and has potential.

Have we ever been linked with Banega?

I know its goal.com and all (but they do get their 'info' from other news sources) say that he's being signed for 10 million euro's. That is fairly cheap isn't it considering he's meant to be a very good player and potential with a lot of interest. Was his contract running out next season or something?

Done deal...

Sahin will announce departure to Real Madrid on Monday, btw

Re Sahin: I guess he believes he's good enough to displace Khedira (I'd agree). and: plenty of people thought Özil's move was premature, too

true, he's more of an Alonso by nature. but don't see any problem to play him next to Alonso next season, RM don't need a "ball-winner" imo

Raphael knows his shit...

lulz, so they're going to out-football and out-skill barca next year?

Big, big blow for Dortmund losing their best player, who made them tick in the centre of midfield this season.

First Turkish player for Real Madrid, by the way.

A cheeky bid for Khedira would be good.

Not really.

Don't think he is all that.

And why wouldn't we try to sign Sahin who is costing even less and is going to be bought by Real to replace Khadira?
