Lots of local journalists and commentators are understandably devastated by the news. Seems she was a very well liked and highly respected up and coming journalist. An absolute tragedy.

The planned Easter Monday parade has been cancelled thankfully as it would've been obscenely disrespectful.

The statement is a joke. There was no reason to search your home but you end up shooting someone moments later.
 
Stupid statement no matter how expected. I. I'm sick of violence up North and the stupid justifications offered as if we are still in a situation we were in the past. This is murder and the shooter should be found and prosecuted. There is no more justification for violence anymore.
 
She seemed like exactly the type of person we need more of in this country yet killed by those we couldn't have too few of.

 
The fact remains someone clearly tipped Reggie Yates to be there with a film crew .

Rumours are the dissidents wanted to put on a show of strength for him and now it ended in the death of an innocent woman

Yeah that's a bit too convenient.

Sad truth is they are never going to go away. They are too engrained into society here as organised criminals as well as terrorists. Too many innocent people and areas still living in fear.
 
Can you not just treat them as plain old criminals? Most countries have issues with criminality (not to the same extent seemingly), putting them on a side or ascribing some political ideal to them feels like a mistake.

They are just plain old criminals. They use a flag of convenience to justify their actions though.
 
What a feckin hero whoever had the balls to do this! Feels like a bit of a turning point, similar to when Daniel McColgan was murdered in 2002 when people took to the streets to demand an end to the sectarian killings then.

The people cheering was sickening, but it's always been that way. Like it's an attraction to come and watch. I assume in most other countries if there's petrol bombs and guns outside you go in and lock your doors.

I saying that im not sure what id do myself when he and possibly others were armed but it was just stomach turning watching it
