Nolan's Batman

Who else is going IMAX on Saturday? This is probably going to be the longest week of my life.

IMAX on Sunday :annoyed: will indeed be one hell of a long week this one!

Our showing is like 11am on Saturday. Bit early for me but at least I won't have to spend the whole day waiting for it. 5* reviews coming in already... fecking. yes.

Going this Friday. Going to watch batman begins and dark knight in the build up

Mines at 9pm Sunday, didn't realise it was nearly 3hrs long at the time I booked  But they were selling like hot cakes in Manchester IMAX so just went for it. I may have to block out any form of Dark Knight related news from Wednesday (when the adv. screenings start).

Finally purchased them both on Blu-Ray and watched them over the weekend for the build up, forgot how bloody good they really are. The Dark Knight is something else, the more I watch it the more I love it for Heath's performance, you just miss some of the amazing little touches of his Joker portrayal the first time round.

Shame it was mentioned in one of the reviews that the Joker isn't even mentioned in TDKR, I know Nolan was pretty adamant the Joker wouldn't make an appearance in this finale, but a slight nod to him would have been nice.
Some nice reviewer quotes here regarding the film on the Guardian website, but the final paragraph is rather interesting!

Reviews going the same way The Dark Knight went, review after review was saying it was amazing and even was the highest rated film ever on IMDB at some point. But imo TDK did live up to the reviews and hype, hopefully TDKR will too.

In some reviews I've read Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Anne Hathaway seem to be getting the best actor reviews, I do feel sorry for Tom Hardy because they keep bringing up the Joker in comparison.

IMAX on Saturday night, 10pm... Watching it at Knox, you're a Melbournite aren't you? Where are you seeing it?

I'm shutting off Facebook and threatening to murder anyone who says anything about it until after I've seen it. Like you said, it will be a LONG week.

I've it booked for a normal cinema on Friday and IMAX(?) odeon in Dublin near O2 if anyone has been. Can't wait, doing a full blackout until its over. Don't even want to know about reviews

I watched Batman Begins last night. Part of my preparations for the weekend. I'll never forgive Batman for not killing Joffrey!

Do not read any reviews of this film. I just read one and the twat of a reviewer pretty much spoiled the end of the film.

Can't help but feel The Dark Night has raised my expectations way too high for this. Don't know how it's going to match that.

I thought that about begins,

I feel the same way, I'll still enjoy it but honestly I've tried to stay way from the trailers.

Cant get an IMax seat in Manchester until Monday, and might be starting my new job that day anyway!

If anyone spoils it for me there will be blood!

First bad review on RT compared it too Transformers in its brief quote(I don't read full reviews or anything from the good ones), pwnt. I mean it's a semi-fair comparison, as Nolan has showed he loves his LOUDNESS and over bloated production recently......but just seemed to make that his highlight to get the hate and plenty of hits to his site.

31 good reviews have like 200 comments combined, the 3 bad ones have nearly 3000 between them. Fanboys, nothing better.

The RT editor also buried a top critic and banned him for 'faking' his bad review to get a ton of hits. Good on him.

I think that is a terribly harsh review, Transformers is all glitz no tits. Say what you want about Nolan's style but there is usually a good story to go with all the loud noises and explosions.

Want to go see it in IMAX, left it a bit late. Only seats left at BFI are front row and that's late august.

Was going to book at one of the Odeon IMAX's in London, but never been and does not seem to be seat reservations. Are the Odeons any good?

I gave up on an early IMAX screening when I saw they were sold out at 2am on a Tuesday for about 4 weeks...I'm going to watch it locally on Friday, and then get a later IMAX viewing when it's all died down if it's as good as I hope.

Though when I saw TDK in my local the heating didn't work and I had to watch it in my swimming trunks whilst melting into the chair. That said, global warming's helping me out so far this 'summer'

I'm watching it at the IMAX next Tuesday - even booked half a day off for it.

Batman is the only film that I am a geek about. It's mainly down to the Christopher Nolan films, they are superb, I don't see how this will fail, the trailers alone are better than some movies I have seen.

Nolan's done a fantastic job with the Batman series, to be fair. The bloke's made a decent fist of portraying a billionaire playboy who fights crime on the streets at night, dressed in a tight outfit and leggings...whilst wrapped up in a long cape. He's a man with no superpowers at all, he's a person who does it for hell of it. Because he's bored.

Tickets are booked for Friday night, cannot wait - I'm buzzing!

Right so Christmas is early this year...Wednesday 6.45 show, which is 6 hours from now.

Catching it next week - not possible any earlier than that....

A gang of thugs has just looted the Gotham City Stock Exchange and crashed out on motorcycles, hostages in tow. The police are helpless as they pursue the miscreants into a tunnel. Suddenly, the tunnel goes dark. A familiar vehicle with monster-truck wheels, driven by a man in black cape and cowl, has joined the chase. Batman is back. An older cop observes the action, smiles and says to a rookie, “Boy, you’re in for a show tonight, son.”

The Dark Knight Rises (TDKR), Christopher Nolan’s mesmerizing climax to his trilogy reboot of the DC Comics character, is a show, all right. But not in the way of the standard summer action fantasy. Although his movie contains elaborate fights, stunts, chases and war toys, and though the director dresses half his characters in outfits suitable for a Comic-Con revel, Nolan is a dead-serious artist with a worldview many shades darker than the knight of the title. The Avengers is kid stuff compared with this meditation on mortal loss and heroic frailty. For once a melodrama with pulp origins convinces viewers that it can be the modern equivalent to Greek myths or a Jonathan Swift satire. TDKR is that big, that bitter — a film of grand ambitions and epic achievement. The most eagerly anticipated movie of summer 2012 was worth waiting for.

Going on Friday- Without IMAX.

Why not imax? This film will benefit from it more than 99% of others, it was actually shot in parts using imax cameras.

There's nothing available at my nearest IMAX that isn't one seat in the front row at 2 in the morning on a Thursday, for about 4 weeks. I reckon most people just want to see the film first.

I concur. I'll have to watch it normally, then Imax it a few weeks later if it's worth a rewatch.

Yep, really want to see this in IMAX but unless I go end of August, there isn't any seats anywhere but the front two rows. There are a few 00:40 showings with seats further back, but even then your stuck on the wings.

So going to go see it on Tuesday at my local cinema, as it's the missus birthday and we both have the day off, so we can go early in the day and it won't be packed.

Sketchy parts give you a satisfying whole. Good, not great. I have a hundred little issues with Nolan though, so that affects my judgement.

I'll be watching it again, though.

My advice would be to stay away from the reviews...they will cloud your judgement. I tried to avoid most trailers and reviews for the last two movies. Worked well in giving me a better viewing experience.

I think a lot of you are going to be disappointed because of your expectations. I'm going in expecting independance day.

I have no idea what's happening in this picture...But it's brilliant.

A day after watching it, I'm getting the feeling that this one will go the opposite way to TDK in terms of how I rate it...that is to say, I will probably start appreciating it a lot more over time.
