Gaming Nintendo 3DS vs PS Vita thread.

Damn. Weren't any at my Sainsburies. Some fairly close, but were £99 again and not £89. Still brilliant value, just annoying.
Don't forget that Nintendo WiFi will be closed in a few weeks, so make sure you've downloaded any extra content for any DS games you have... EG: The bonus puzzles in the Professor Layton games etc.

I'm in the same boat, interested to hear what it's like.
Borderlands 2 in a few weeks too, both games I've ever played before, dunno whether to jump in or wait and see if they hold up to the console versions,
I have both HD collections on PS3. Great games.
It's slowly becoming a remake console. Not that I have much against it, I never finished MGS3, both GOW or FFX on a PS2 so I'll gladly play them all but at some point they are going to need new games ans they are just not coming in any reasonable quantity. Football Manager has saved it for me, prior to that I barely touched my Vita for months, now I find myself absolutely glued to it most of the time.
The God of War port is apparently shite. Get the HD Collection on the PS3 instead.

Hmm.. 3DS XL is preowned £85 at Game. £43 more but new with Yoshi's Island.
Still can't decide which to get between the XL and the 2DS. The big screen is meant to be great on the XL, but the 2DS is supposed to be far more comfortable.

It's better and I strongly doubt that 2DS is anymore comfortable.
I can't comment on 2DS, as I've never used one. I couldn't be happier with my 3DSxl though, and it's always nice to have the option of 3D if you fancy it.
You guys aren't making it easier for me to save my money for a bit longer!! I've been so close to buying one for months now, I've been doing so well!

I think the 3D effect is much better than people realise, when done right of course. Ocarina of time is outstanding with it, Mario has plenty of levels that use it well and stuff like StarFox/Mario Kart is a blast with it and Resident Evil just looks so much more atmospheric. I've a few friends who've complained about it, but didn't realise if you take it to about 75% you get the effect without much of the sick feeling some people seem to get.
The 2DS is very comfortable, but the XL is hardly uncomfortable to play. I'd get the later personally, though the 2DS is outstanding value. As for Yoshi's Island, I've yet to play the new one but I very much doubt it comes close to the original. That game was just amazing.

To be fair, Game are meant to refurbish all their preowned products and it does come with 12 months Warranty.
I'd probably only buy Pokemon right now, maybe Zelda Link Between Worlds. Don't want to get OOT, Star Fox or anything just yet incase they announce them for the Wii U at E3. Not point getting Mario Kart since I'll have MK8 in a few weeks time

I've got Kid Icarus, it's cool.
Nintendo helped publish Bravely Default, so I imagine it would stay on 3DS. And as it's developed by Square Enix, I reckon any future games are more likely to hit smartphones than Vita.
I don't rate the 3D effect all that much. It can be nice at times, like OOT and Pokemon, but as often as not it's annoying and it fecks with your eyes if you move the thing the slightest bit.
To be fair, I really don't think I'll ever give a shit about the 3D. The bigger screen would be nice though, and the 2DS doesn't have stereo sound I don't think without the headphones in.
Yeah, I wasn't expecting it on Vita to be fair. That's the sort of game that Sony should have been getting for Vita. I played the demo a little (I think it was the demo) and it was really cool. The scalable events and the turns order is really nice.

You can get OOT and Starfox for a fiver I've seen. With Starfox and Mariokart they are worth the low cost for the first person views and gyroscope controls alone, I love it
Resident evil works well with the camera aiming too. I thought it'd all just be tacky crap tbh, but done right it works well.As for the 3D some people do get problems, my GF hates it completely. I've never played Starfox, Kid Icarus or Fire Emblem - those 3 appeal to me most with Pokemon, LoZ LBT and Bravely Default.
Would probably pick up Mario 3D Land at some point after how much I love 3D World. Also, Kingdom of Hearts on the 3DS looks brilliant - they seemed to have nailed the combat on it.
