Gaming Nintendo 3DS vs PS Vita thread.

I'm honestly amazed that you have a PS3 and not PS+.

I haven't really used my PS3 for years, not until GTA5. Even back in the day, I didn't play it much and never online.

I think it was down to having a 360 as well. Spoilt for choice and my mates having a 360 always meant I was mainly playing that. I always preferred the PS3 deep down, which is a real shame.

I won't be making the same mistake this gen, partly because I can't afford to and secondly wanting to dedicate my efforts to one platform, hence myself considering the Vita as well.

I used to pay monthly for Xbox live though, so if the ps+ fee matches that then it's a no brainer.

I'd like to say that Football Manager 2014 on the PS Vita is not 'just the mobile version'. This year it is the FM Classic mode that you can play in the full game. Sure, it's still dumbed down but not like it was previously.

The PS Vita's back catalog PSP and PSX games was a huge draw for me. I'm playing FFVII on it at the moment and since i missed out at the time i'm definitely going to invest in the first Metal Gear Solid. The PSP God of War game is also, apparently good craic so i'll definitley be giving that a bash at some stage. Plus, i will be able to remote play with my PS4 when i get one. It wasn't all about the pure new PS Vita games for me.

The vast majority are watered down PS3 games. There are some gems, yes, but not a whole lot really.

That's true to be fair. If you intend to play it at home then it's pretty much pointless because you can play the same stuff only better on a big sceeen on your PS3. It only makes sense for people who travel a lot because it can easily replace your PS3 on a trip. That changes when you intend to play PSX and PSP games as there are plenty of great ones in its library.

3DS is a far better handheld though and one that you might actually like to play both at home and out. It has a ridiculous amount of great games right now.

It's such a shame and the reason it's the only console ever to be within my reach and I've never bothered to buy. Even to me, the Vita just isn't worth my time, which isn't a great advert I can tell you!

That being said, no doubt I will own one at some point. But going by the PSP (the only console I've ever actually sold), I don't think it'll be any time soon.

Just seen that Amazon are doing the Red and White 2DS for £99 - Nintendo Handheld Console 2DS - White/Red: Amazon.co.uk: PC & Video Games

Good deal IMO.

Tesco too, and for anybody who have never ordered from Tesco Direct, you can get 10£ off making it 89£.

Good in general, and even better for people with Clubcards.

It's had a bit of stick, and let's face it it's fecking ugly, but that's great value for such a great console.

Yeah, 90/100£ for access to such a huge library is brilliant.

Despite being ugly, the reviews all(that I've seen) talk about how comfortable it feels to use, which is far more important.

Indeed.

Though I have two boys aged 2 and 4 and have never had problems with either using the original (3D strictly off of course), but I can understand why there might be a need for this.

But hell, I picked up Starfox 64 and Ocarina of Time for under a tenner each, even if those were the only two games ever released on it, it'd be worth it!

As if the games so far weren't already good enough, I'm sopping wet for Super Smash Brothers. Like, wetter than an otters pocket.

Yeah, that's gonna be amazing.

I'm guessing the DSs won't be able to play against people on the Wii U, locally or over an online connection? That was an awesome feature on PS All Stars for Vita/PS3.

Also, check out - I posted it in the documentaries thread, but more Super Smash fans will check out this thread:

(part 1 of err, I dunno, more)

Think that's a pretty good deal if it's definitely new.

That's my only concern. I'm thinkin maybe it just hasn't been used much and they are trying to claim it as new, but surely they can't list it as brand new, unopened etc. if that's the case? Positive feedback for them so far, so i'm hoping for the best. I would have got it for £92 if it wasn't for some dick jumping in at the last minute. Thankfully I set the maximum to £120 quickly enough before it ended and they either didn't beat it in time or didn't wanna go that high.

I've managed to sell mt PS3 and games for £150 though, so i'm up £30, still have my 360 to sell and a hefty tax rebate last month pretty much pay for my PS4 and a few games, setting me up nicely for next gen.

Well eBay usually (always?) side with the buyers so if there are any problems and the seller wont help at least eBay will help you out. Hopefully it's alright though :)

I don't know what the game situation used to be like on the Vita, but I got one on decent deal a couple of weeks ago, and I've just had to buy a 32gb card to save all the games. There seems to be quite a lot of decent games. When the PS4 and remote play comes out as well it'll only get better.

I've not tried a 3ds to compare the games, but I've never really been a fan of Nintendo and wouldn't play a Pokemon game.

Vita + accessories + games is a lot of money though even with the good deals out there..

If you're gonna struggle on money later down the line, wouldn't you rather save that money to buy games with when they come out?

I have a Vita, and the Remote Play makes me want a PS4 - but when am I going to play it? I live in my bedroom basically and have access to my consoles most of the time.. when I'm out and there's Wifi, it means I'm at work or with mates.

I keep telling myself the novelty of playing when I go for a shit will wear off fast, and I won't use the feature a lot.

Obviously it depends on your circumstances, I'm surprised at how many people I've seen 'good for the wife hogging the television' - I thought pretty much everybody has multiple TVs these days? Although I guess remote play over Vita is far more convenient than lugging the TV away from the biggest screen/sound system to play in another room though, but far more expensive too.

Since I got the Vita I've not even turned on the PS3. I'm not that much of a gamer really, but I think I prefer being able to just pick up and play the Vita and still have other things going on rather than sitting down and playing the console. Being able to play proper PS4 games on it is only going to make that better for me.

I assume it's because the wife would be fecking pissed off if you feck off to go play games in another room. At least if you're using remote play on the Vita you're still in the room with her so it counts that you're 'doing stuff together'. I guess.

I currently play my consoles in my room, and at times I just don't like it at all. My room is small, and I just hate sitting down playing games really. I house share and my house mate watches a lot of tv, so i'm more than willing to pay the £120 I just paid so that I can play my PS4 with a little more comfort now and then, albeit on a smaller screen. I'll obviously buy games for it that appeal to me also, so it's remote play isn't the sole reason. I get the feeling if it works fine though, remote play will help shift a lot more Vita's.

Pity, you could have had well over 40 free games for PS3 alone.

Is that through PS+? I noticed it's only £6 month and I can get Uncharted for the Vita for free. That's a bargain in itself surely, even if I cancel after a month?
