Gaming Nintendo 3DS vs PS Vita thread.

Animal Crossing is incredibly absorbing. It doesn't really have much of a plot, it's just an incredibly relaxing game that you'll feel the urgency to play very often.

I'm happy that I got it in digital too. Saves me the hassle of switching the card when I feel like playing. Decent price as well and it was up for download at midnight.

I'll be here sometimes!

You're getting it at some point, aren't you? Be sure to give me your code then, I'll come visit your town and we'll fish together.
Yep, I'll be getting it. I'll let you know when I do!
I got monster hunter 3 yesterday and I'm going to use my free code for Lugies mansion (spelling?), as the promotion says, so many games! Nintendo are really doing well with the 3DS, it's been their best console in a long while. Possibly since the 64 IMO.
I think the DS was still slightly better overall, but the way they've been bringing their games out, if they keep it up then their output on the 3DS will probably surpass the DS soon.

I still usually find the two screens kinda gimmicky. Especially now swapping from 3d to non 3d, but they really are immense handhelds. I'm still trying to decide whether the 3DS, or the GBA was the best though. Something charming about the GBA, especially when playing GBG games on it and half the cartridge sticking out the top. Of course it had a ream of amazing games. Especially RPG's, including home consoles, the GBA was probably a fairly close 2nd place to the PSX/1.

I've been using the 3D on NSMB2 which I got a couple of days ago, it works really well on that game. That and Super Mario 3D Land are probably the best games I've seen it on so far. Watching the Yoshi's Island trailer from the eShop in 3D though, it looks like that will be another good one. The cave level at the end of the trailer looks especially good.

I really liked it on Pullblox(or whatever that is called), and Super Mario 3D Land, but in most other games it was tacked on, it was awful on Fifa, but that was just a straight up awful game. Wasn't too bad on Dead or Alive, but a bit distracting.

Yeah from what I can remember it looked good in the DoA demo, but in the full game I imagine it could be a bit too much.

Anyone played the GBA or DS Mario RPGs? Need to go back and finish Bowser's Inside Story before Dream Team comes out.

I'm convinced my 3d is broken.

It has to be kept perfectly still and in a very exact position or else the screen is blurred. So it really put me off from the get go.

Also just tried getting my free game only to realise the account is registered under my kids DOB. In the T's and C's it says you can only claim the game if over 16.

Tried calling their hotline, which was closed. So sent them an email.

Will be seriously pissed if we cannot get the free game based on that.

Have you already registered the games? If not then it'd probably be easier to just make a new account.

Apparently (according to a post in the Nintendo tech forum) even though you can't change your DOB in the online account options, if you phone up they should be able to. So even though you sent an email maybe tomorrow try phoning them.

Yep all the games are registered already. Will ring them tomorrow. Surely they won't be dicks about it????

You never know. Just try and use an excuse they can't say no to. Something like when you bought the 3DS you're kid was excited and offered to fill in the information for you, but accidentally put his DOB in.

It is, especially in fast paced fighting, while you're noticing how awesome things look, you're also getting your head caved in, heh.

I played one of the old Paper Mario games, can only vaguely remember it, not a clue what system it was on. Was going to get Sticker Star, but it seems to get really mixed reviews, and lost a lot of RPG mechanics.

If you want an RPG then Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story is a good one to play. Partners in Time is good too, but if you just want to try one then Bowser's Inside Story is the one to get.

That's how the 3d effect is supposed to work, it's a major flaw but the alternative would be to change the screens and make people wear 3d glasses.

I've only played Superstar Saga when that came out but enjoyed it. Didn't know there have been more since. Think I'll buy both Partners in Time and Bowser's Inside Story and give them a go.

This is kinda ff topic, but how is Sticker Star? Paper Mario on the Wii was one of my favorite games ever but I think they have moved away from that. Am I correct?

I'm not too experienced with the Paper Mario series, but yeah from what I know they moved away from it quite a bit. Heardy probably knows more than me though so hopefully he can answer.
Does anyone else know how to fish on animal crossing?
From what I've seen in videos you have to go and talk to Isabelle at the Town Hall and she'll ask you how the fishing is going, and then will let you buy a rod. Once you've bought it she'll explain how to fish (which is basically, go by some water and press A when you see a fish shadow, then when the bobber goes underwater press A again quickly before the fish escapes).

I've not managed to catch any fish whatsoever so far. Catching bugs is much more fun.

I don't understand why I like this game so much. There's not much to do, I've barely played any mini games but I can't stop playing it. I just pick up fruit, catch some bugs and walk around pointlessly. It's awesome.

I find fishing more fun, but agree on everything else :P

Sounds like most rpgs really, often times half the fun is fecking about in each town, taking to random people, shopping and hoping to find a secret treasure chest.

So, does anyone have Animal Crossing already? I'd like to visit some towns. Move your ass and buy one Olly.

I have it, although I've just started and was stupid enough to sell nearly everything at the very start to pay off the downpayment (hint - you can grow fruit, mindblowing, eh?) - so my town is nearly empty.

I'll post my friend code when I get home...

Got my Vita recently, ground a great deal of the way through Rayman Origins, racked up a few hours in Persona 4(really need to get back at that), and various other games, polished off Lunar Silver Star Harmony. Whatever the heck is wrong with me though, I got it into my head that I need to be playing Pokemon now.... Bah!

Oh, been using my Play Coins on the Dream Radar, so had my 3DS on in my pocket as I went about business, and built up 9 coins this morning, added to 2 I had already. Thought it'd be handy in my pocket while I went for a cycle, completely forgot the limit. 1 more coin added, boo-urns!

They've announced Ninja Gaiden and Unit 13 as free games for PS Plus subscribers next month. They're really coming on leaps and bounds with this plan, these are both excellent games. I need to upgrade to a 32 GB memory card this week, there's no way I'll be able to survive with the 16 GB I'm on right now. If Nintendo could come up with a similar plan for 3DS owners its sales would go through the roof.

I've added you.

You both need to open your gates so I can visit your towns though!
