Gaming Nintendo 3DS vs PS Vita thread.

Not at all, but it's all relative isn't it? I'm quite sure that Sony are very happy with a profitable PSP selling 19m units and still going.

Your point only has value when you take a platform that was totally dominant like the PS2 was, demolishing everything in its class - Gamecube, Dreamcast, and XBox. NDS never did that to PSP, that did something similar to Nintendo as Microsoft have done to Sony, although not quite to the 50/50 degree. 35% market share for PSP as a first entry into the hand.held market is not something to sniff at is it?

It's about the bigger picture though isn't it? You think they are happier making money on the current platform, or setting themselves up for future platforms thus guaranteeing growth in the business?

I'm willing to bet they thought they would make a bigger impact than that.

You get really defensive over this stuff don't you? It blurs your mind at times, causing you to overlook the simple point being made somehow.

He was just putting into perspective how impressive those numbers are, with another machine people might attribute with success. It wasn't a pissing competition.

Not at all, but the way he posted it was a pissing competition. PS3 has only sold 7.3 in context. Well, yeah, Wii has only sold 12m in context!

He's making a pointless point. Wii became the fastest selling console, surpassing the PS2. It won't get anywhere near PS2 numbers at the end of the day, as 3DS will get nowhere near NDS numbers.

No, you just take any mention of Sony as some kind of slur.

It would make zero sense to compare the sales of the PS3 with the 3DS, but you do have an issue reading people's posts sometimes as you always take things like this literally.

Mind you, you are getting a bit better. You didn't start this one with "are you seriously?" ;)

No, but he was the one that did it, not me.

Actually, I don't believe he did. You just see everything that way!

You shit stirring cnut!

 You know I have nothing but complete respect for you, but sometimes you do make it irresistible to me to point these things out!

It's a classic fanboy trait, and it only gets worse the more informed the fanboy is ;)

No, he didn't bring PS3 sales into the thread at all did he?

After spending some time from my sick bed today looking on Rawk at how they view the Evra incident, I'm beginning to see a pattern here.

I might have to get the Fa to write a report on what he meant, because simply trying to say it myself clearly isn't working :)

In a slightly off topic direction...

Do Apple not have an approval process for putting games on the App Store? A pirated Pokemon Yellow ripoff is currently the second best selling game in the US (and a bunch of other countries*)

I don't know who developed that, but isn't every single game that say GameLoft make a total rip off anyway? As far as I understand it, Nintendo only have the right to use the Pokemon name in the dedicated gaming device situation. It's possible somebody else got an iOS licence.

No, Nintendo's name is on every little piece of merchandise relating to the franchise. It's their's (or they are at least majority shareholders) as far as I can tell.

Nintendo own 'The Pokémon Company', anything to do with Pokemon belongs to them.

I think it's safe to say Nintendo didn't decide to release (or give permission to someone to) a special version of Yellow that doesn't work on the App Store under the name "Home of Anime" :D

Nope, the worst kind of pirates.

Great game though!

3DS has sold 5 million units in less than a year. The PS3 has sold 7.4 million units in 6 years. I was merely trying to put that achievement into perspective. I wasn't having a pop at Sony Weaste, just putting Nintendo's achievement into context.

I own a PS3, I have absolutely no reason to dislike Sony. Im 20 years old and since the age of 6 I've grown up playing Sony's consoles (PS1, PS2 and now the PS3) and Nintendo's hand helds, from gameboy colour to now.

I've already pointed this out to him, but he won't listen.

You are now on his 'list'.

And? To put it into perspective, the juggernaut Wii has sold 12m LTD in its lifetime in Japan, and is now a dead platform. PS3 will probably at the end of the day surpass Wii in sales, but get nowhere near the 22m the PS2 did. If nothing else it shows the total shift in Japan away from the home console to the hand-held, something that hasn't happened in the West as of yet, and with the love affair for COD and full on multi-player games is unlikely to do so.

Last week PS2 outsold XB360 in Japan. So?

Unlike Sony, Nintendo made a profit on each Wii sold, that makes a huge difference to the bottom line figure.

The 3DS has been on a ridiculous upward curve since the price cut and new releases. Its relative performance is given below is Figure 1. I don't see how you can be so sure when you say that it won't outsell the DS.

Is that the same 3DS that Nintendo is not making a profit on each unit sold bleeding the company money, unlike Sony who makes a profit on every PSP sold?

If you are going to construct an argument, at least make it coherent.

Sony sold the PS3 at a much higher loss margin than Nintendo is selling the 3DS at.

Out of interest just how much profit does Sony make on each PSP sold and has the PSP always been sold at a profit?

Of course it's worth buying if he wants one!

He likes his COD, well his VITA is going to get a proper one!

Unless he goes on long journeys, and doesn't mind paying a fortune for 3G internet usage, why would he want a lower res cod on a tiny screen?

It does amuse me you are using that shit as a selling point though :D

Yeah, but it requires dialogue between the players.

I assume the talking is between certain groups privately to strategise, then everyone openly?

That could be done, but how would it be better than a forum? I suppose you could make it an actual game, i.e a isometric affair with an actual village people walk round and have interactions, then meet in the town hall at specific points. You could then have npc's giving hints, but the complexity of something like this would need a lot of attention to the scripts these characters would have. Plus it also heavily relies on people actually playing it and I pressume still a human in presiding over the whole thing?

I am sitting on a very good (if I do say so myself) rpg about werewolves where the player has to work out who's what based on actions of the people he encounters, but that's a single-player game and obviously story based and scripted. Something like this you play assumes a hell of a lot of real players, especially if you play against people you don't know.

Got it.

First impression - why do I have to perform multiple system updates, go through a million manuals to play a game? It's been an hour and I still cannot play fecking FIFA. 3DS booted up in a minute and played games straightaway.

>sony >quick updates

pick one.

however, i kind of really want one....i also really want a 3ds ><
