The add ons would be based on things like appearances for United, appearances for England and future success so if hes as poor of a signing as you seem to think then you shouldnt have to worry about the 6m figure

I don't think you can just assume you know what his addons are based on.

I'm the opposite of many on here. I hadn't watched a lot of him until this season when he got loaned out to Wigan where I watched their Europa League fixtures and some of the 12:15 Championship games. He was their best player in the Europa League by far and was doing well in the Championship up until he got injured. He's on his way back now and obviously looks rusty but I hadn't thought of him as a quality player up until I saw his performances this season with Wigan, especially in the Europa where he shone.

His price is irrelevant, even if he was a bit rubbish and we wanted to sell him we would easily make our money back on him at least

Theyre pretty basic add ons that are in almost all young signings contracts so yeah you can actually. Add ons are based on the success of the player and the club. You said you think hes a middle of the road punt so obviously you dont think hell be successful so why worry about add ons.

Up to £6m, so £1m less than Bebe.

Are you pretending to be stupid?

bebe was straight out 7m. Powell is based on clauses (united appearances, trophies, england). He's likely filled none of those criteria.

if we sell him tomorrow, we'll make a profit on him.

Another poster who's incapable of making a point without insulting people.

How's Powell guys? I was too busy so couldn't watch the game. I missed Cardiff once again as well (Daehli)

Gomez would have been fifth. If not, whoever decided this order needs to be shot.

I assumed he'd come off as he didn't take the first. I've no idea then. I can't believe Caldwell was chosen first. It was the most obvious miss I've ever seen.

So he's basically going to have to be looked at as a striker now. I know Gradi and Sir Alex both said he's a central midfielder, but even the teams we hand select for him to go to on loan dont play him there. He plays up front. And he's scored a good amount of goals for Wigan from up front. At 20 he's still very young, however it might be a tough road to get a game up front for us in the future.

Alternatively because of his age if he goes out on loan again he might come back just as RVP is a few years into his 30s and James Wilson isnt quite ready yet. But he'd have to prove a lot to even make that happen, even with the perfect timing

Pretty bad in regular time, he was better in extra time although still certainly not great. Hard game for him to come into though in his defence, Wigan weren't really playing much real football

Plenty of players haven't taken penalties in shoot-outs down the years, sometimes players just don't feel it.

Giggs in Moscow?
Evra against Sunderland?
McManaman against Germany in Euro 96?

Only 7th in line, including letting Nani AND Anderson go first.

I always think senior players should be expected to put their hands up. Giving one to a kid is fine, as they're a bit more fearless, but you usually want your experienced heads.

If United were to be playing in a CL final and my six first options were Rooney, Van Persie, Mata, Carrick, Evra and Januzaj I wouldn't automatically expect Januzaj to be one of the first five unless he was absolutely bouncing with confidence.

Penalty taking is arguably the only thing Anderson is good at, somehow. Bit weird, for someone who is usually so terrible at shooting. If the ball is dead still, and nobody is infront of him, he's all set.
He probably isn't actually good at it, how many has he ever actually taken? Scoring one good one means nothing

Let's face it. Powell was terrible in that game. He could have held the ball up better. Improved as the game went on but still a disappointing performance.

He's taken two for us in shoot outs, well taken too. I remember reading a few years ago that Mike Phelan said he was one of the best takers in training. Him and Carrick, surprisingly. I remember Carrick taking one against Burnley, which was saved. It was a terrible penalty.

Probably the worst I've seen him play today. He's young, however, and youngsters are notoriously inconsistent. Nothing to worry about here; he's shown his class plenty of times this season, and previous to that, also.

Thought he looked dangerous today. Obviously a bit out of his depth though at that level, could perhaps grow into it. Actually I have a sick feeling he's looking too much like a striker to ever make it at United :( Strikers just don't seem to make it

Horrible time of the game to be thrown on with Arsenal really turning the screw and Wigan tiring and struggling to keep hold of the ball. Powell was isolated, and feeding off scraps.

Surprised he didn't take a pen, assuming Gomez was to take the 5th. Powell is a confident lad, a sweet striker of a ball, and is their top scorer i believe. Surely would have been a better bet than Gary fecking Caldwell

Some truly awful opinions in here. Writing off a 20 year old as a poor punt by Fergie in his dwindling years is a new low for idiocy on the cafe. He's shown he is a class above the championship. He was Wigan's best player this season. If he was fat, it probably has something to do with his long injury lay-off.

Have a word with yourselves, please, if you're writing off a promising 20 year old.

On a side note, comparing him to Bebe isn't bad, he's had a sensational season as well.

Can't say I've seen enough or too much of him to make a conclusive judgement on the player, but he doesn't strike me as a central midfielder. Obviously he's played further advanced throughout his career with Crewe, United U21's and Wigan to date, but I always find the perception he will be converted to a box-to-box player odd.

Just strikes me as a very lackadaisical and languid type of player who will never be renowned for covering plenty of ground or contributing significantly to the defence as well as attack. It would also limit his goal threat if he's playing with more restriction. One of his big pluses is the danger he poses in attacking areas.

I personally wouldn't be adverse to letting Hernandez go and drafting Powell into the first team squad next season, as an attacking option along with Rooney, Welbeck and van Persie. If we qualify for the Europa League it would also be further case for inclusion opposed to sending him out on loan.

my mate is a Wigan fan. He says Powell was there best player prior to his injury but since coming back he's not looked as fit and been a bit off the pace. Hopefully him just getting his match fitness back. I'm not convinced he can be a United player as it's a huge jump from Crewe or Wigan. I'm hoping Wigan go up through the play offs and we loan him back to them for a season in the prem next year

God he looks shit.

Slow and overweight.

Another one of Fergies punts that would have been better spent on the Hazard agent fee.
fecking hell. He's neither slow nor overweight. And we could easily afford Hazard's agent fees, regardless of how much we we spent on other players. If you're to be believed there was some fine book balancing going on...

Is there any reason people are convinced he's a cm or is just simply because Dario Grady said he thought that's where he'd end up or that we need one?
