Nicholas Williams | Bilbao winger

Everyone wants a shiny new toy everyday. He’s not better than Rashford ffs, at least not now. Marcus will definitely have a better goalscoring and assist season than him this year and for the next three in a United shirt
Not everything is about individual goals and assists. Rashford is a quality wide forward when used correctly and is super productive. He does not play like a winger, he does not drive well with the ball, his threat is purely off the ball and then being the goal threat.

Nico Williams is one of the best wingers around at being a winger. Taking the ball, running at and past players, making things happen and being unpredictable. Garnacho is that style, but not as good as Nico Williams yet (potential is a different debate not getting into). But we need more players like that and why Nico Williams would do great here

Rashford is many things, but slow he is not.

He hasn't outpaced someone for years. He was never very quick. He was best described as "nippy" over a few yards, but these days he's not even that.

What? He’s always been a top speed > acceleration type of winger. His speed was never an issue - he is still very fast.

Rashford is really fast. He's just not particularly good at running with the ball and isn't in control, he's more of the kick and sprint rather than dribble quickly like Nico.

Well I checked the highlights after in case I missed anything, almost nothing, and aside from the goal nothing was stand out.

Then you need to look up a new highlight video because he created two of the biggest chances in the game for Dani Olmo and Yamal. It's not opinion based whether he did much or not, it is objectively true and he created chaos constantly with his dribbling, link-up and one-two passing and pretty much forced Walker to stay back.

Walker had him in his pocket for most of the match.

It means very little. Walker is the best 1v1 defender in the world and has pocketed Vinicius and Mbappé on more than one occasion. It is not like Williams is going to be facing 1v1 defenders like Walker on a regular basis, and even if he did, he was still more threatening than any of our alternatives on that side.

He was easily one of my favourite players to watch at the Euros. He deserved his goal in the final.

Pace, directness, intelligence, guile, skills, panache - hope there was a chance to get him. Is exactly what we have been missing for a long while on the wings.

Overhyped.

Good young player with some decent club stats and a great tournament with great coaching.

I'd wait another year to justify the hype.

I think you will find walker forced him to switch sides to get out of his pocket.

He didn't switch sides at all. He moved more centrally because Oyarzabal came on and he also operates from the left side despite him coming on from Morata. Anyway, that was not what you said originally. You claimed he didn't do much when he was the most threatening player who created some of the biggest chances in the game and also scored the first goal.

he scored, created two big chances and was man of the match

Exactly.

Some people are so blinded by whatever BS they decided to make a stand on that no number of facts will change their minds. It's laughable.

I can't tell if this is a WUM or sarcasm but it better be one those two things...:lol:

Don’t get me wrong. I think he’s great, but just don’t expect him or anyone finding much luck trying to dribble and run past Walker. He eats those kinds of wingers for breakfast. Thus, Williams sensibly had a different approach. If anything, I think that’s more impressive.
