The Devils and Red Wings are the hottest clubs entering the playoffs (along with San Jose). I figure the West will come down to Dallas vs Detroit while the East is wide open, but I think it will be either New Jersey or Buffalo. Well, actually Gretzky had the best "rookie" season in the NHL, but since he had played for Edmonton in the WHA the season before, he wasn't eligible for the Calder Trophy (the rule was later changed). But he did take home the Hart Trophy (MVP) in his first NHL season. He won the Lou Kaplan Trophy (top rookie) in his only WHA season.
