Go Islanders! Big underdogs vs the Ottowa, but they beat them 3-0 last night.

I watched some of the Phil-Tor game last night. Leafs had only 15 shots on goal and 5 goals. Leafs are very banged up. I'd like to see them win, but it doesn't look good.
 
My Leafs have character. Besides, last year, we made it to the conference final without half of our regular team.

I tell you what, the Isle's have one of the best defensive corps in the league. Hamrlik, Niinimaa, Jonsson and Aucoin are class players.

That said, we have Kaberle and McCabe who are great.

Of course we shouldn't get too confident. The Flyers are quite good and the Sen's will get their game on sooner or later.
 
Both teams advancing would be great but admittedly difficult. Niinimaa was a terrific pickup.

I watched the Anaheim Ducks at Detroit Red Wings last night. 3rd 'kin period of overtime!!! The red wings were battering the ducks on shots, something like 65-45 and they bloody lost!

Strange game this competitive ice skating if you ask me

I watched it too. Shots in the first OT period was 20-4 for Detroit. Great goaltending by Giguere and a good break on a shot that hit the crossbar and the goal disallowed on review.

I was there! They were pitiful. My first ever hockey game and they play like that! Gutted. At least the Stars hammered Edmonton last night.

Dans, How'd you like your first game? It's a lot different being there.

I think Detroit can still come back and win.
 
Well, it wasn't quite as I'd hoped - being 2-0 down after two minutes kinda dampened the atmosphere as you can imagine! But despite that I loved it - great pre game atmosphere that promised a so much more had they only scored a goal at least. I'm still a hockey novice really so I wasn't really able to spot offsides and penalties, but the pace of the game kinda makes it hard to. All in all I'd recommend it to anyone who likes their sport, but then obviously playoff time is that much more than the regular season games so I guess I was lucky that my first game was a playoff match up. I'd love to see more live hockey if I could.

You up for the fantasy hockey next season btw?

Thre offsides, icing and two-line pass calls become second nature after a while if you're following the puck. But there's a lot going on away from the puck that you don't see on TV. the penalties are kind of subjective and a little inconsistent. Shame it wasn't a better game for you but it gives you an idea. The early scores kind of take the fans out of it though.

I'll do hockey next year. I'm not as up on it as baseball and football but I'll be ready.
