NHL 2016-2017

Pens win big to regain the 2 game advantage and without Crosby as well. Thought the Caps might pull it back, but lets see what happens in game 5 on home ice.

As for the Oilers... Let's be clear, we can not afford to keep flying out of the traps and then standing still, it's cost us to many times in the playoffs already. However, I don't know how 3 of the Ducks goals stood tonight. Goalie interference, offside and then a clear icing in OT, add to that numerous missed calls against us Carlyle's white gloves quote either got into the head of the officials or simply they aren't good enough. I can take loosing as an Oilers fan I've grown accustomed to it, but when it isn't fair, and obviously isn't fair I get angry. I was glad to make the playoffs, that we look like we could have a chance if things were fair just makes what's happening so frustrating. RANT OVER.

Crazy game going on in Anaheim now. Oilers 3-0 up with 3-4 minutes to play and wooops 3-3, the last goal coming with 15 secs left on the clock. Not even sure if the goal should've been allowed.

Will be a huge win for whoever gets it, going into 2OT now.

Edit: Ducks win it, great goal.

Another outrageous no call on goalie interference, clearly the rules have changed recently as Kessler was holding Talbot's pads and his stick under the them as well. It doesn't matter if he's pushed the rules state that.

I'm still numb from this one, during that 3rd period I was tweeting and posting in an Oilers forum that we needed to generate some offence, we simply sat back and let them come on to us. Even though for the best part we were doing OK, you knew that as soon as they got one they would go into overdrive. Had we played that 3rd period as we did the others and pushed back at them, they wouldn't have taken the chance to take Gibson out as early as they did. Since Carlyle's comments the Ducks have had some really dubious calls for them, I don't even know how they decided that they could give a penalty shot in the first, and then that at the end.

It puts us on the brink, and if we do go, we know we've gone down fighting when the field has seemed weighted against us. If you'd have said us Oiler fans this time last year would we be this close to possibly a conference final, we'd have laughed at you. We thought we'd be pushing for 8th, and possibly claiming on the last game or something, not this. To cap this we were down to 4 d men within 10 minutes of the first period. Benning came back only for Klefbom to get hurt and miss 8 mins at the end of the period. All the effort and energy and to end up like we did. I think the way I'm feeling is how the Bayern fans felt in 99.

That was an epic rally by the Ducks of Anaheim. I watched that final ten minutes and was lucky to see that. But like hell I was going to stay up for the OT when it was damn near 1am in Georgia.

What's happening with hank in this series anyways?

Some of us are waking up at 3am to watch the games, it was close to 8am when Perry scored the winner on Saturday morning. As I said to many of my Oilers friends in Edmonton at least they could sleep on that loss... I was wide awake and ready for the day and what a long day it was. Thankfully it's a midnight face off tonight, so perhaps I'll be able to sleep off the elimination (I'm preparing for the worse).

@Tribec you must be loving this? :D Oilers going crazy in the first period! Game 7 here we come.

7th Heaven, great comeback after Friday's game. Can't even complain about the ref's tonight. Drai has been fantastic once more, crazy thing is Pouliot, RNH and Eberle are -1 in a 7-1 game. Ducks trying to get things going with 3 minutes left, but Kessler and Perry both thrown out with Lucic and Maroon. Added to this the Oilers down our top 2 d men in Klefbom and Sekera.

Preds reached their first Conference Finals, Rinne with some absolutely ridiculous playoff stats. GAA 1.37, 95.1%, 2 shutouts. Doubt they'll go through to the finals, although their defence is something they can build on. Some of their forwards have taken another step, as I remember them being poor last spring when the real games started.

Preds will reach the finals, and lose to the Pens, whose dinasty was derailed by Crosby's injuries but now seems to be back on track

Pens heading back to Washington for a game 7. It's going down to the wire, and at this rate I'd say that the Caps are possibly just favourites.

Bloody hell, I did not expect the Caps to come storming back like this. Game 7 is going to be incredible. What a series.

Pure joy to watch Erik Karlsson att the moment and he is not even 100%. Hope for Washington in the conference final now.

Here's to the Sen's beating who ever, the Oilers winning tonight and beating the Preds, to leave us with an all Canadian final... and if it is, I'll arrive in Canada to a huge party, with the Stanley coming home and the 150th birthday.

Hoping for Pens-Sens and Oilers-Preds. Really don't want to see the Caps in the Conference Finals, let alone the SCF.

When is the latest a game 7 in the final would be played? I'm in Canada from the 21st of june but suspect that is too late.

It depends on when the finals start, but as the draft, expansion draft and reveal of the new adidas jerseys are over the weekend of the 23rd/24th June, the finals will be over by then, and by a week or so I suspect.

The end of the road for the Oilers. Great season for them. Id be really proud of their team if I was an Oilers fan.

The Ducks closed out game 7 the way the Oilers should have finished game 5 and now move on to the Preds. I want to be gracious in defeat, but the two no calls on goalie interference have left a bitter taste in my mouth. The Oilers didn't show up tonight, the Ducks won this game fair and square though.

At the start of the year, I expected us to push for a playoff place and miss it on the last couple of games, to finish 2nd in the division, and have home ice in the playoffs was an outstanding turnaround for the Oilers. 11 years out of the playoffs and then to go to game 7 in the second round. Proud of this team, with tweaks we'll be back next year and whilst my plan was a 3 year one, perhaps next year we can be finalists. Proud to be a fan of this team, how many other teams in the NHL could sell out a 18,000 arena in 2 minutes to watch a game on the scoreboard??

Oilers can be very proud of themselves and no doubt they'll be back. I'm just happy the Caps went out in the semis once again!

Not really a fan of any team that's left but so long as the Ducks, Pens or Preds don't win the Cup I'm okay with it ;)

And ottawa takes game 1

Great game by the sens, penguins were better in the first but looked lost from about halfway through the second. Ryan's goal was

Also Eric Karlsson is the conn smythe winner, no matter what happens from here on. Sens get swept by the banged up bruins without him, nevermind reaching the ECF. Sens are a crappy team when he's not on the ice

Game 4 of each series could be decisive, I think both home teams will prevail and we'll see both series at 3-1 going into game 5. Whilst everyone has been going on about the Preds, and how they are playing, the Sens are being equally as good over in the east, and whilst I would obviously like to see the Oilers be the team to break the Canadian cold streak for the cup, in this 150th year celebration, it would be great to see the Sens take the cup home.

Fecking Preds just won't go away, really hope the Pens (or Sens) do them in the SCF. The only one I'd want to win the cup from that lot is PK Subban.

Really happy for Filip Forsberg, local lad who became a hero at our local team. Humble guy who still spends summer time in his parents back garden practicing shots in a set up net. Always time for the fans. Think Sens chance would have been equalising there late in game 4 and winning the sudden death. Not completely given up though.

Kunitz comes up bigggg.

Predators-Penguins final, another one for Crosby please.

Wouldn't you know it yet another dubious offside call in the play-offs. All this after Bettman claims that the challenge rule is working well. His State of the League statement resembled a Trump speech. How the Pens managed to win that after going 40 minutes without a shot baffles me. A bit of luck in the next game going to go the Preds way for sure.

Guentzel & Malkin are on a mission this postseason, wow. Also surprised to see Rinne pulled from the game, but agree with the general consensus that he should remain their number one.

Predators needs to defend home ice now as well if they want to make this series interesting again.

smh at the WOATliness always opening it up for Godsby.
