NHL 2009-10 Season

are you guys watching the World Championships? It's not best on best but I always enjoy that tournament. Love the fact that Denmark are doing well, although their little joyride will be over soon ;) Sweden has some great young talent coming through who were given their chance to shine (and took it) like Oliver Ekman-Larsson and Pääjärvi-Svensson.

The Oilers will be a powerhouse in a couple of years with Hall(?), Eberle and MPS.

No TV station I can see here is showing the bloody thing.
At least I haven't noticed it yet. Are SVT, DR or NRK showing the WC?

SVT aren't showing it here, Viasat (TV6+Viasat Sport) are. I would guess it's the same in the other Scandi countries.

I bet there are streams availiable at myp2p and adthe though.

 great fight between Germans ans Swiss. Even assistants of coach fought.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

One of my first memories is Lemieux skating with the Cup in Old Chicago Stadium.

It's haunted me since. Please god. Please let me get what I want.

Finally, two great teams (not the greatest; the NJ Devils deserve that accolade) with a lot of history make it and neither Lindros nor Chelios are there to participate in it!

I'm fecking pissed wish this game was on on Friday night

Wow, nothing on game 1?

A instant classic thtat was, none of the "storylines" were in effect and it was fantastic coaching by Chicago in that third period.

Pretty amazing how all the top line players on both teams were minus players and had 0 points in a 6-5 game.

Says something about the value of depth.

I'm trying but I just can't bring myself to watch hockey when it's pretty much summer. Same thing happens every year.

I don't get why the NHL broadcast Game 1 on Sat night directly against the NBA playoffs instead of during the afternoon with only golf and some baseball being broadcast, or the following Sunday when nothing except golf and racing were being televised nationally. Yet another gaff by the NHL.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh 2-0

Well what a stange game, game 2 was. Not high scoring like the first game, not a lot of much really, but some how I was totally engrossed by it all and enjoyed it. It wasn't a purists game by any means, I don't know what I can say I found so good that I was enthralled by it.

Still I'm glad that Chicago won, can see Leighton being benched on Wednesday, he doesn't deserve it, but I can see it happening. I don't think it will change much in terms of where the cup is heading mind you.

What's up with Toews though? Leading the scoring race by a large margin up until the final but hasn't been able to get on the score sheet at all (I think) in the finals.

Personally I'd love to see game 7 too as it would be a home game and I love the atmosphere in the city for a final playoff game, even if i'm not a proper hockey supporter, but whats better, closing it out away or face the potential of throwing it away at home, I'll take a close out tonight please, the city will still go nuts! When the Sox won a few years ago it was crazy, Chicago has seen few championships since the Jordan era, the hawks have the potential to have some sustained success though, quite a young team from what I understand, Kane looks like Ronaldo on ice!

Kane is amazing technically, no doubt. Must be quite the buzz in Chicago right now.

I wonder who will win the Conn Smythe. Pronger had a nightmare game the other day and for the Hawks Toews has been pretty quiet in the Finals.

I've liked the efficiency and steady eddy nature of Duncan Keith, he always seems to do things simply and well, just like how I like my footballers, he's the one who's caught my eye, but I don't know much about hockey so who am I to comment, from what I understand Toews has struggled to score in the final series but still played an influential role for the team.. No?

Yeah, I agree. Keith is incredible. Probably the best defenceman in the world right now. Such a fluid skater.
I've missed quite a few games of this years playoffs but Toews was no doubt the favourite going into the finals but has only managed 2 assists in 5 games since, so I wonder if that's enough.

Entertaining period so far, but no goals yet. PP Hawks now.

Edit - Byfuglien scores for the Hawks
