NFL Thread

The context here is that the rise of players like Mahomes is being seen as a potential trend where NFL teams start to actively look for prolific college passers who come out of Air Raid, Fun & Gun, Run & Shoot, Vertical, and various spread centric offenses, since that is where the NFL is increasingly headed (even more so than in the past), which is being reinforced at the college level with the likes of USC hiring Kingsbury and FSU hiring Briles; even Mack Brown is going full on Air Raid at UNC next year after hiring Phil Longo.
I know that’s where the future is heading, but that doesn’t mean current NFL QBs are spread guys now. Nor are current NFL offenses that mix in a few spread concepts actual spread offenses.

Lindsay out for the season with a wrist injury, he’ll also miss the Pro Bowl. Disappointing end to a great story this season.

Justin Herbert is staying in college.

To those in the know: how often does this kind of thing happen?

Pretty much guaranteed first round pick for an NFL team but choosing to stay in school and graduate instead.

Fair play for staying and getting your qualification, but anything can happen in a year injury wise and your might not get the chance again.

Wow that's unexpected and a real blow to any team looking for a qb in the next draft.

I really hope Kyler Murray decides to play football afterall and the Dolphins manage to draft him :nervous:

Probably won’t be too out of the ordinary now that the previously insane rookie wage scale that gave QBs inflated contracts has been abolished. RBs and lineman shouldn’t follow suit though...

The Packers have apparently interviewed Chuck Pagano for the HC job. If that happens, Rodgers might aswell just retire now.

Would someone ‘fresh and innovative’ even be able to coach/manage someone like A-A-Rod?

Interesting question the Gmfb crew asked today - if you are a top coach and you get offered the Packers and Browns job , which one do you take ?

Browns obviously. Their roster is miles better than Packers. And I honestly think Baker is more coachable than ARod.

Any coach to whom Rodgers is or might be a reason not to take the job, should immediately retire. Can’t think of a more stupid reason not to take the job.

From the outside looking in, looks like a tough situation to manage. I don’t think Sean McVay for example would be able to lay his philosophy on an offense with Rodgers as QB to the same extent that he’s done with the Rams.

All the good games are starting after 9 . Going to be absolutely mad . I will be watching Eagles plus bears game

Can't understand Dallas playing the starters the whole game

Because in recent years with playoffs secured they would rest players in the final game and then come out flat in the first playoff game. And after that abysmal display in Indy they need to get a couple wins going into the postseason to build any momentum at all, and 10-6 looks so much better in the record book than 9-7.

They'll likely lose to Seattle as I have little faith in this Dallas team and the coaching staff. Garrett would never have gone for the two-point play if the game actually determined going into the playoffs or not, or for a home-field advantage. Not sure if I'd blame him for not choosing so in that kind of situation but it's just one of those things about him that irks me - he's clueless, has no balls, and is a yes man.

That broncos onside kick. played too much madden.

ESPN ticker thing says the Chargers have 1st & 10 at the LAC 0.

How is it possible to possess the ball at the 0 yard line?

Vikings looking inept on both sides. Meanwhile, the Rams up 14 on the 49ers with the latter in the red zone at the moment. If the Rams get up big perhaps the Bears start thinking of resting key players in the second half. That might be the only way the Vikings do something at this rate which only benefits the Eagles potentially backdooring themselves into the postseason - barring them laying a turd in Washington.
