NFL Thread 2019

NFL needs to throw the book at them. The Pats video guy was so desperate. When the Bengals security guy says "Yah, I don't see the advanced scout in any of this video they're shooting."

I'm sure if you look at the majority of the video they shot that day it'll be of the scout.

We didn’t deserve to win that. Poor performance but at least we’re guaranteed a playoff spot and division is still in our hands

Although I know feck all about the NFL as I've only been properly following it for a year, I'd say that the Chiefs are starting to get a bit of momentum. Their defense is improving and the Mahomes to Kelce & Hill offense is looking better than last season.

They definitely have momentum, which to be honest only went away because Mahomes was out to injury for a few weeks in Oct/Nov, and is returned now that he's healthy.

I agree with this and I really don't understand why the Ravens are currently 9/4 to win the Superbowl when they lost to the Chiefs and all other realistic winners are between 6/1 and 10/1.

They're favorites cos the road to the Super Bowl in the AFC goes through Baltimore. They're also well-balanced, with a solid defense to go along with their explosive offense. KC's defense isn't great and their rushing game is non-existent. Plus, Andy Reid is their head coach.

Still can see KC and the Pats potentially beating them though. For all the Pats' offensive issues, I wouldn't bet against Belichick.

Few reasons why the Ravens are that high. They're on a 10 game winning streak (easily the best in the NFL) with 6 of those wins coming against likely playoff teams, three of them coming against teams who are now 11-3. And as @Man of Leisure pointed out, they've almost certainly got home-field advantage and a favourable playoff schedule.

Am I right in saying hand signals were used more commonly back then where as now most of it is done through the headset, so there is less info to be got from the video this time.
Offenses have had the QB helmet headset for decades. Defenses got them in 08. Still, they cut off 15 seconds before the playclock runs out and there’s still signaling that has to happen for changes at the line of scrimmage, which would be something amazing to have on film, as you’d know your opponents LOS adjustments to what you’re showing them.

Would be nice if the Pats got the true punishment they deserve and asterisks are attached to their Superbowl wins.

Cowboys have it for me

Niners have to win out against the Rams and Seahawks to have a chance at a playoff bye... They're gonna be very disappointed not to have a home playoff game after starting the season 8-0.

The Cowboys can upset anyone when they're on their game but certainly won't pull it off three times in a row to get to the SB. Saints and Ravens are my clear-cut favourites in each conference, and add the Niners to that should they get the #1 of #2 seed.

Yeah it's all a crafty ruse only used for a game against the Bengals. They didn't even bother to attempt the trick against the Ravens, Chiefs or Texans. Bugger that. The true test was the Bengals. And they also cleverly have been doing these documentaries the last few years just to gain an advantage against the best team in the NFL, the Bengals, when they sprung this trick. Belichick is so heavily involved in film production along with his regular duties. What a guy.

Just because they didn’t get caught doing it elsewhere doesn’t mean it didn’t happen.

They’re repeated cheats.

Im willing to bet everything I have that was not a one time job

Interesting. Why then was this the only instance where credentials were received and the camera man filming out in the open? Was it simply arrogance? They'd gotten away with it so often this season that they decided to step it up a notch? Brought down by their own hubris. Shame.

The Pats have a history of cheating

Neither would scare me, if I was a Ravens fan.

49ers, I’d not be scared but of all the teams they are the one who could beat you. They’ve got a solid defence, which has played you once and you would expect to formulate a solid game plan using knowledge from the first game if they had two weeks before the Superbowl. Having said that, in two weeks you guys could add serious wrinkles to your offence. Any play from any playbook is open with Lamar.

Chiefs, as it stands, don’t think stand a chance. They have an explosive offence but unless they had their game of the season, and their defence played out of their skin, I don’t see them even having a chance. And it’s not going through Arrowhead.

I don’t see anyone in the AFC standing in your way. Patriots offence is so poor we have no chance of keeping up, even if BB formulates a master plan against Lamar. Chiefs as above. And no one else is remotely close. On the NFC side, in addition to the 49ers I’d throw in the Saints. If things click for them they could be a tough matchup.

Obviously Ravens inexperience in the playoffs recently might be an issue but I don’t see Lamar being phased at all.

The Chiefs are starting to warm up. I hate to admit it but I hope the Pats keep the Chiefs out of the #2 seed because if Mahomes gets a weeks rest to heal up some, I think their offence will be scary good again, and their D has been improving through the season. I like our chances better against the Pats because none of those receivers outside of Edelmann are that worrisome.

The niners played the Ravens tough in shitty conditions, now you can make the argument that the Ravens play was affected by that too, but the inability of the Ravens to set the edge on D is a problem not many teams exploit because they're behind so quickly. Shanahan is about a good a playcaller as there is in the playoffs this year.

And you know what? The Bills are looking pretty good right now. If Allen works out how to put touch on his passes they could be really good.

As good as the Ravens look right now, I'm always weary of teams that start to catch fire in the last few weeks, and to me the Chiefs are that team right now.

So sad... He just doesn’t seem to get over his problems, I really hope that he will one day.

In other news, the Chiefs have claimed Terrell Suggs off waivers. Really thought he’d be going back to the Ravens.

Incredible how the regular season games have been scheduled but in the last two weeks there is Pats Bills , Eagles Cowboys, Packers Vikings, Seahawks Niners and Texans Vs Titans . Should be so much fun.

Eagles cowboys is the biggest game I guess and even though the Eagles are at home I think that the cowboys are favourites. Cowboys seem to matchup well against the Eagles and on their best day they are better but it's one game so you never know

There as no chance another contender was going to let the Ravens have him. An edge setter like him? Nah.

Yeah, the 49ers, Saints and Seahawks all tried to claim him on waivers as well as the Chiefs. Even with his threat to not show up if claimed by anyone else, was never going to become available for them.
