NFL Thread 2014-2015

Yeah but they're a playoff team with a shot of going deep into the off season. The Giants are... meh

The more I read about them, the better I like the Packers. Tradition, history of being a entertaining team, dedicated fan support, fan ownership and green/gold, it all fits. They are the United's equivalent in NFL.

Packers it is. Now to actually get to know the game and the team players!

Sir Alex was a huge admirer of Vince Lombardi as well. He wrote about him in his biography.

OK, I've decided to learn NFL and now need to choose a team. Based on a in depth and deicated research spanning over 15 mins in Google, I've shortlisted 2 teams

Giants - Because I'm in NY, and
Packers - Because they are described as Man Utd of NFL. Green and Gold included.

After couple more minutes of reading, I'm leaning towards Packers now. Must get to read more on this Rodgers guy.

Opinions?
As you're a United fan-and follow a successful team-might as well add some pain into your life and become a Jets' fan. I've been one since 1968-and aside from one Super Bowl, it's been pain and misery.

Honestly think you'll be the next serial division winners. That defense with Rex's schemes is championship caliber and the Pats will go down with Brady whose terminal decline started last season. If you get a proper QB and CB next year then all bets are off. Similar feeling with the Rams too. Both teams are loaded with talent, but held back by unfortunate QB play.

Could say that about quite a few teams. Rams, Bengals, Cardinals etc.

Well yeah don't get me wrong, Cincinnati and Arizona are good but ageing. Can't believe the Bengals gave Dalton an extension. And what with Fitzgerald, Abraham, Dockett coming on a bit for the Cardinals. Meanwhile the Jets and Rams have elite, young defensive units with good trenches either side of the ball and just a couple more additions could catapult both teams to the top. Right now they're in a bit of a limbo, much like the Niners and Seattle before Kaepernick or Wilson came along. But it could all change really soon. Your war cry should be #carcusformarcus :D

Absolutely, the best part about sucking this season is a great crop of QBs available in draft. Even the Texans, the team I get to watch most (local team) could be a legit force with a proper QB and some upgrades to the secondary now that they have locked up JJ Watt & Clowney.

Just saw the GIF generator that EA created:

Pretty cool site!

Just posted this in the Madden thread.

Why? Packers are not exactly champions nowadays, I think.

And while they'll likely make the playoffs they won't go far with the defence they have at the moment unless something drastically changes.

All of those reasons are why I started following the Packers in 2007/08, as I've become more invested in the NFL I follow them a lot more closely now. Offence great, defence not so great!

So would you guys take this trade in fantasy.

Calvin Johnson for Marshawn Lynch and Larry Fitzgerard

Trying to cash in on Megatron at peak value. My RB's are Alfred Morris, LeVeon Bell, and CJ2K in a 2 RB, 2 Flex league. Emmanuel Sanders, Mike Wallace and Kendall Wright make up the WR core. Jimmy for TE. Rivers QB.

Looks like the Bills are going to be staying in Buffalo for some time to come.

One freaking billion dollars! For a team that has not made the playoffs since 1999. Forbes last valued them at 935m, but that is valuation is not really supposed to be a selling price. Considering there are only so many seats at the NFL table and the money and prestige (rich guys like their ego's stroked and like being part of an "elite" grou) that goes along with being an NFL owner the prices should not be suprising.

Will be interesting to see how he is financing this. The guy already owns the Buffalo Sabres in the NHL, of course they have not been very good of late so maybe that is not a good sign for Bills fans.

Here is a picture of the rich guy and his wife

So apparently the NFL were sent the Rice video 3 months ago.

I wonder if there will be pressure on Goodell? Makes the original suspension even more retarded.

Good man :D

But yeah, that vid of Rodgers posted earlier is fantastic. Great QB but the team is sorta letting him down. One of the best QBs ive seen all round especially in decision making but hes got terrible protection and a defence which means it relies on him way too much. In the playoffs, this is what costs you.

I have a dilemma for one of the fantasy leagues I'm in. Would you rather play:
Jeremy Maclin vs Indy (AWAY)
Emmanuel Sanders vs Kansas (HOME)
Anquin Boldin vs Bears (HOME)
Victor Cruz vs Arizona (HOME)

Who has the better chance of getting the most points out of these four?

The whole penalty for hit on a defenseless receiver call is a bogus crap to me.
Exactly. I like some of the things they've done, such as leading with the crown and everything but this is a step too far. Targeting is the only thing that should be enforced.
Aye, I noticed that also. Wasn't the instant review supposed to help with this?
I don't know. You would hope but nobody in the booth is going to second guess the ref on a non-penalty. It just won't happen.

Adrian Peterson the latest naughty football player. Hopefully nothing in it, would feck up my Fantasy team...

Edit: apparently he hit his child?!

Another mess for teh NFL to handle. Between these all too often crimanal charges against players, HGH use, the brain injury epidemic, not too mention the other long term debilitating injuries sufferred by players, sooner or later the NFL is going to start being hurt by all this.

From a commercial/sponsorship aspect I agree. But I don't think incidents this will impact too much on viewer ratings or fans turning up to watch games. People still want to watch their football and when the game starts, most of the non-game stuff is forgotten.

The Vikes, NOT the NFL should come out tomorrow and suspend AP for the rest of the season for what he did to his four year old son. How can he abuse his kid when another child of his was beaten to death last year by another adult male. And he thinks he didn't do anything wrong. I just heard the bullshit damage control statement from his lawyer. An adult woman has the ability to defend herself...a four year old child does not. Defense wounds on his hands.....that really says it all.

He needs to fire that lawyer of his. Who in the world releases such a stupid statement?

Is it just me or do a large percentage of NFL players tend to be spectacularly fecking stupid? They're lucky they've got football because without it they would be fecked. And yes that probably leads into a huge debate about upbringing, ghetto's and all kinds of shit
