NFL Thread 2013-14

Yeah, it's a ridiculous contract. Revis would want something similar, though. I reckon that kind of money is too rich for the Pats' blood.

Rogers-Cromartie might be a slightly cheaper alternative.

Actually, the NFL players get screwed because their union is horrible. They generate such an amazing amount of revenue playing a hyper violent game that often leads to quality of life issues and get significantly less than their peers in other North American sports who generate less revenue and play less violent sports.

'kin hell, the money in NFL is ridiculous. Does he live in a diamond encrusted house?

The guaranteed income is $26m over 6 years? That's $83,333 per week, or £50,000 per week.

We wouldn't blink at that being paid to a squad player at United.

Even the headline figure of $57m, which I assume includes bonuses etc, only (lol only) works out at about £109,600 per week.

Even Manning is on less than we apparently pay Rooney.

To be fair, Rooneys wage is beyond ridiculous. Probably has two secret diamond houses.

Revis will probably look for something similar to Talib. I reckon we could be in for Rogers-Cromartie instead to be honest.

Can't see him taking that low even. Considering they're the same age and Revis is comfortably better, that would be a bargain. Revis at less than $10m per? He won't get the $16m he wants but it'll be more than $10m.

Shocking. Thought it was guaranteed that Talib would stay with the Pats. He may not be worth that much, but that gaping hole needs to be plugged before the end of the summer.

Someone'll pay Decker a very nice contract, then realise very quickly he's not worth it.

Another thing: yet again, Ian Rapoport proving he's one of the biggest hacks covering the NFL. By the end of free agency he might get at least one of his countless predictions correct...then proceed to tell everyone "See? I was right!"

that gaping hole needs to be plugged before the end of the summer.

That's what she said.

Decker is fine, especially for the Jets, whose #1 and #2 receivers last year were an autistic pigeon and a floating Mars bar wrapper respectively.

Oh yeah, he'd definitely be a huge upgrade for the Jets.

Someone'll overpay for him, though.

Word is his ask is 5 years, $40m, $20m guaranteed. I don't think that's too bad, particularly if it comes down a little. Apparently he has visits scheduled with two other teams but gave the Jets first go at it.
Not a chance unfortunately. Pats don't pay big money for anyone. Its a pity because they really could win a superbowl if they just opened their damn pockets once in a while.
Hope you're right, really seems to be picking up momentum now.

Broncos clearly still very butt hurt from the Super Bowl. Sign all the players!!

They're doing what the Pats should do. They have maybe 2 years left with an elite QB. There is gonna be an inevitable decline anyway, so go for it now. Everybody would take a Superbowl then a few barren years, than being consistently good, but never winning the big one.

Nothing is won in free agency, I would like to see the Pats make some moves of course but by now I just trust in the way Bill does business.

Apparently the Pats offered Talib $40M over 4 years.

You mean qualifying for the Playoffs year after year whilst looking very good then not winning the Superbowl? Isn't that what Pats fans give Manning shit for?

I mean exactly what I said.

Is Oher still unsigned? Do we reckon he may end up somewhere or left without a team?

Von Miller and DeMarcus fecking Ware.

Sweet deal for Talib. Interesting dynamic with players who took the one year prove it deals in a down market now cashing in. Talib, Grimes and Bennett.

My cousin is a Broncos fan, just sent me a text, "I think we deactivated the salary cap on madden..."
