NFL Thread 2013-14

Pre season means little to nothing much like football, however Blount's run last night was very nice

Looking forward to watching our running game this season. We were a lot more balanced offensively last season, I think we'll see even more rushing this year with Hernandez gone.

I see Timmy came into the game as a QB. I wonder if they ran any plays with him as a FB?

The running game was decent last night, Ridley made a really nice 62 yard run. Made it look like a leisurely stroll

Pats look a lot better than anyone expected, stronger running, stronger defence(with less pressure on Wilfork now), all the young WR's look capable, and the TE situation seems quite manageable, Sudfeld looks like he could be a terror across from Gronkowski(once he's back).

I was actually disappointed that he couldn’t finish the run.

Well, as disappointed as you can be watching pre-season football.

Yeah if it had been the normal season and he couldnt finish it I would have been fecked off, he was in but seemed to slow down a bit. He certainly was not going at full speed.

Well this gave me a little smile

Twitter saying Brady left practice after apparently injuring his knee. We're truly fecked if something has happened to him.

It's a bruise, Nate Solder got bundled over and fell into Bradys leg. Apparently, he had two or three throws more before leaving, and nobody besides fans looked any bit worried.

Brady played after his injury scare and did quite well (11/12, 1TD). Looks like he and Amendola are getting on the same page and Sudfeld's been getting some nice praise which is good with Gronk still injured.

Timmy meanwhile was 1/7, 1 INT and a grand total of MINUS 1 yard. Although he did rush for a total of 30 yards. I think he'll be cut, unless the Pats want him as a RB/FB option.

Prediction Time. Not willing to predict a Superbowl winner but I'll go for the teams making the post season.

AFC Divisional Winners

Patriots
Texans
Ravens
Broncos

Wild Card

Colts
Steelers

_______________________________

NFC Divisional Winners

Redskins
Packers
Saints
Seahawks

Wildcard

49ers
Falcons

My Predictions:

AFC Divisional Winners:

Texans
Broncos
Patriots
Bengals

Wildcard teams: Ravens & Colts

AFC Championship game: Broncos beat Texans.

NFC Divisional Winners:

Seahawks
Packers
Saints
Redskins

Wildcard teams: 49ers & Eagles

NFC Championship game: Seahawks beat Packers.

Superbowl: Seahawks beat Broncos.

The NFC West is going to be a proper battle this year, so making predictions at this point is really difficult. I do think Carolina could make the playoffs this year though.

Well that's the beauty of the NFL. Its very hard to predict what will happen. Any team could go on a late run and win it, like the Giants did 2 years ago. No one expected the Seahawks to contend last year but they got quite far in the end.

You're all underestimating us as per usual. Our year, Steeler nation!

AFC:

Patriots
Steelers
Texans
Broncos

Wildcard: Ravens and Colts (I still think the Colts might actually nip ahead of the Texans).

NFC:

Giants
Packers
Falcons
49'ers

Wildcard: Redskins and Seahawks (Yes, I'm going with the Giants over Seahawks in the East).

FFS I bet Collinsworth could find something positive to say about Hernandez......and sideline reporters, seriously, whats the point?

No comments on the concussion lawsuit settlement? It seems the NFL has avoided saying that the damage is a result of football and doesn't have to acknowledge that it knew and when it knew about the damage caused.

Sounds like a sell out by the plaintiffs and a cop out by the NFL imo but I'd be interested to hear opinions on that case.

Tebow Touchdown!!!! Sack Brady, start Timmy :D

Tebow with a brace of thrown TD's.

Down is up, bitches.

Plus 30 rushing yards (and a pick). Might just earn a spot on the roster after tonight. I still think he can offer something as a FB but I don't think he's been tried there in pre-season.

Lawsuits are settled all the time. It is not necessarily a cop-out. Compromise can be a way to avoid the sress, expense and delays of full-blown litigation.

Tebow makes some plays againt opposing players hoping to secure spots as backups and special teamers, his fans go nuts again claiming he's the second coming. Also sacked four times and threw a pick. Awesome. Mallet performed solidly in the first half and there's no media hype. Just go away, Tim. Go preach brimstone and fire to kids.

The NFL would never avoid more exposure to anything controversial. The NFL would never lie or coverup something. The NFL would never try to play down damaging stuff. The NFL would never claim certain tapes showed no evidence of taping opposition practices but destroy these supposed tapes with no evidence. No, not the NFL. Never.

This still gets lumped into the discussion. There was never any practice films given to the league, on field game footage only. The Matt Walsh, Boston Herald, Rams walkthrough stuff was never substantiated. Belichick deservedly fined the maximum amount under league rules, team fined, loss of a first round pick. Not exactly swept under the carpet.

Yet tapes that supposedly had NOTHING ON THEM were destroyed. That's odd. I understand you Patriots fans live in Liverpool land in regards to it but fans of other clubs living in the real world see it oddly.

Why would practice films not be given? Were they destroyed by the Pats brass? Or are we to believe it never happened?

Johnny Manziel got a half-game suspension and yet we all know he took cash for autographs. Granted it's NCAA and they're corrupt and fecked up more so than the NFL but the huge fine, loss of picks, etc. shows something was up. Harsh penalties for something that really didn't happen.

I understand why the NFL would never admit the taping of practices and whatnot, and certainly destroy any possibly evidence that could be leaked to the public. Such evidence could/would prove the Pats/Rams Super Bowl* as a bogus game (and possibly many others) and would crush the NFL in both the fan skepticism and Vegas betting. It would be many times worse than the Black Sox scandal that nearly crushed MLB in the late teens/early twenties, especially in today's 24-hr media coverage.

*I actually despised the Rams and was glad they lost that game, as long as it was legit of course. On separate note, it was a joke Brady was chosen MVP of that game but he was the feelgood story of the year and all. Ty Law was the true MVP for me. Kinda like Warner winning MVP for the Rams (again the feelgood story) when it was Marshall Faulk that truly made that Rams team click.

Patriots have cut Tebow. We hardly knew you Timmy :(
