NFL Thread 2013-14

That was some weird shit with the play clock! I was going to have an early night, it's not 4:09am and I can't stop watching nfl!

Cracking play! Touchdown! Now for the 2 point conversion! They will get it, I'm sure!

Dallas still has a chance. 2 mins to go...

Romo would be proud of that. Great game.

I actually feel quite sorry for Orton for some reason. A lot of pressure for a QB who isn't a starter tbh.

Hilarious seeing their owner getting angry

Orton is Romo. Romo is Orton!

Just catching up on the highlights before work.

Blountforce...thats all I can say really...

No surprise that Shanahan has been fired.

Thought the Browns could have given their coach another year. They traded away their first choice draft pick from 2012, had a revolving door at QB, the one QB who looked decent for them got injured after 2 games (which they won), and he was having to deal with a severe lack of talent. He was only given 1 year. Hardly time to imprint himself on a team given his circumstances

Schwartz fired as well. One source on twitter saying he had lost complete control of the dressing room. I remember a few years ago Yahoo Sports had him as the number 2 coach in the entire league. He was over rated sure, but can't believe how badly this all turned out after two pretty good years

Talent is there it seems, must be an attractive job.

Frazier gone for the Vikings. He was a nice man, but nice is not enough. So many bad decisions. Glad he´s out. However, how his coordinators are still employed, I have no idea. Musgrave is the worst OC in football. Williams runs the Tampa 2, an outdated defensive system (unless run by Lovie Smith, I guess). Part of the reason Frazier is out is that he´s loyal to a fault. Both these coordinators and Frazier have come up with garbage gameplans, not utilized their players properly, kept underperforming players on the field when better options existed on the bench (Guion/Evans, Robinson/Rhodes, Mitchell/basically anyone else, Henderson/Cole or Mauti). His game management is terrible. Several times he´s taken timeouts when the opposition is driving to win and have used all their own timeouts, he challenges when he shouldn´t, he doesn´t when he should. Basically, he should never be an HC again. But yes, he´s a really nice guy and players love to play for him. So there´s that.

McDaniels to Cleveland?

Tebow to follow?

Would get a great laugh from that.

Tebow is now an ESPN analyst for college football from what I've heard. Can't see anybody taking a shot at him in the NFL anymore. Well maybe the Jags if they get desperate; they can't get any worse.

I'm fairly certain McDaniels knows if he sits tight a couple more years he's walking into the Pats job . Though then again, I thought the same with Queiroz and United. Sometimes the assistant can't wait, especially when they've already had a taste of being a head coach, again as CQ had.

He is an analyst (Tebow), but McDaniels drafted him and was instrumental in getting Jesus Freak a tryout with New England, so if he were to take the Cleveland job I could envision a similar tryout. Tebow would jump for another shot at the NFL, and I'm sure his ESPN position would be safe if/when he fails in the NFL again.

feck the world, I'm really excited for the playoffs! In fact, I'm so excited I nearly used the word in 'psyched' to describe my mood.

Yeah.

Luck's had some big comebacks in his career but I doubt he'll have another today.

The contrast in quarterback play is what's surprising. Luck has been uncharacteristically bad after the first couple drives, whereas Smith has been uncharacteristically amazing.
