How's that decision to give an overrated QB a massive contract and let others walk to fit that bloated contract under the cap working out, Ravens management?

They could be looking at a potential repeat versus holding out hope for the final playoff spot with a mediocre team.

What other option did they have? Not trolling, genuinely curious

They could have signed Smith at much less the cost and got the same efficiency, perhaps better, and retained the key components and not be cap crunched for x years.

Bit of a 'meh' weekend for me: Hawks lose at home; Packers lose at home; Colts win though.

Carolina are going to make the playoffs though, so I guess it's nice to see my 'dark horse' team from the off-season coming through.

Think the Seahawks losing could be big. Although there is an outside chance of my Niners winning the division (if we win our last 2 games and the Hawks lose against the Rams next week) - I don't see Seattle losing 2 in a row.

But right before the playoffs is a bad time to lose the aura of invincibility. The Cardinals defense played exceptionally well, but the fact that they could throw 4 picks and still come out with a win in Seattle will give every other team the belief that they can beat the Seahawks at home.

The Niners are getting better each week as Crabtree and Aldon Smith are getting back to their best (although think Crabtree is still a few weeks off - in fact I don't think he will be back to his top level until next season). After having a string of injuries all year, the roster is now surprisingly healthy which bodes well if we can win tonight and seal a playoff spot.

Seattle are beatable, but you just need your defense to play it's lights out, and I think there are about 5 teams that have the kind of all round defensive ability to do it: Carolina, Houston and the rest are in their division.

I've said this before but Seattle has average receivers, which means a lot of emphasis is put on the quarterback to extend plays and make those receivers play above themselves. Wilson has somehow managed to do this despite the fact that the O-line is really bad at pass blocking. But against those teams, it's been shown that once you put pressure on him and stop the run, Seattle don't do well.

If (big if) they get Harvin back, they might do well in the playoffs. As for next week, the Rams really know how to play Seattle, so we'll see. But not having Sam Bradford back is going to be big there. Expect the game to look a lot like the Arizona and San Fran games.

Blount with the Ray Lewis dance in the end zone near the end of the game last night :D

He even asked Lewis's permission to use the dance before doing it

I thought he was being a bit of an arse, like Tevez and Pogba doing Batigols machine gun when they played Fiorentina(oh how well that ended,), fair play to the lad though!

Initially I thought he was being a bit of an arse but hey, if he spoke to Lewis about it beforehand then fair play!

Romo done for the season with a herniated disk. This will save him from being blamed from the inevitable loss to Philly. Alternatively, and worse for Romo, Kyle "I was benched for a Jesus Freak" Orton leads the Boys to a win and we see the true idiocy of fanatics citing how he's better than Romo and blah blah blah.

Jesus. It's been a horrible year league wide with injured players. I know that the Cowboys always "bottle" the deciding games at the end of the season, but I had them winning at home to Philly.

 at bolded.

Onside kick by Atlanta is good. Two minutes left in the 4th quarter and finally something good happens. Be interesting from now on.

They make one good play and that is followed by an incredibly shit one.

I think the credit has to go to the Niners D on that play - all out blitz and then Bowman manages to get an interception after blitzing the QB. Plus the coverage was jersey tight which enabled the pick.

Good point. I thought they might run it there.

Pats have released Austin Collie....again....

If Denver fail to win it all this season, will it be the biggest choke from a Peyton led team in his career?

There is absolutely zero excuse to not win the AFC, at minimum.

Still nowhere near Ross Ventrone level. Belichick just loved fecking with that guy. In the space of two years he was either signed, released or promoted from the practise squad to the full team 29 fecking times. twenty nine. 2 and 9. twenty nine. in two years. its hilarious

http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=espn:7488713 worth watching this video. its amusing

Looking forward to the games tonight - Will have 49ers on the MacBook and the Seahawks game on the iPad!

I expect both teams to win...but have a sneaky feeling that the Rams may make it difficult for the Hawks...

Or maybe that's just me hoping!!

Who NEEDS to win tonight? Who has nowt to play for? Just realised it's only 25mins till some KO's and haven't done research for todays bets!

Arizona doesn't have anything to play for, San Francisco already booked their place in the play-offs against Houston on MNF and they are playing for the NFC West Championship if they win and Seattle loses. Arizona lost their chance to get to the play-offs when San Fran beat Houston.

Just seen they're on about sacking the entire staff at the Lions after the game? :s The Vikings are at over evens here too... tempting.

If Arizona wins and New Orleans loses, Arizona is in.

I'm all for eliminating division winner automatic entry when said winner has a worse record than another club, i.e. Arizona vs East (potentially) and North (certainly) winners. Arizona gets penalized for playing in the strongest division in the league while the East's waste dump champ and the North's garbage winner get in. New Orleans could end up the odd-man out in certain scenarios. Patriots were hosed back in 2008 and many other clubs have over the years. The only scenario I would accept is if said division winner had defeated the other club with a better record during the season.

I'm also for no more home games given to division winners when sitting on a worse record. When Seattle hosted New Orleans with a losing record it was quite ridiculous; yes they won but no way they win in New Orleans (Saints shouldn't have lost anyhow but such is the playoffs, a lottery for the most part).
