NFL Thread 2013-14

That was clearly not out of bounds. Should be a TD, instead all they get is first and goal if these refs overturn their incredibly stupid decision.

Edit: not even first and goal. Ball at the 11. Blind referee.

Pats lose. fecking penalty.

Very ugly 2nd half performance. Brady has 1TD through 3 games, he's got to do better especially with all the key injuries on defense. Gronk looked very good, hopefully Talib & Amendola are back for the next game.

New bunch of receivers or not, Brady has been well below par this year and missing some throws he should be making.

Definitely. Only 8TDs all season and just 1 in the last 3 games. He's really struggled with the deep pass, hopefully it changes now Gronk is back.

TD!!! Very nice drive. Let's see what Peyton does now...

Luck has a beautiful deep pass. Should've caught that.

And that should've been an interception.

Brilliant from Luck.

I thought he was going to spike it

Great half.

Colts have been very good defensively and Luck has done a very nice job throwing the ball. Some of the drives they've had have been top quality.

However, I think Peyton will pick things up in the 2nd half and the Broncos will sneak the win.

The hit from the Colts punter was brilliant (albeit very illegal)

He didn't launch the top of his helmet. You see that hit on nearly every RB run between the tackles.

Have to say i like how the NFL players don't mess around after a tackle. They separate from their opponent, get up and get back to the line (or get subbed out). No fannying about, simulating injury or time wasting.

Fecking Fantasy opinion writers persuaded me to play Tony G instead of Julius Thomas. Which will probably lose me my matchup, as the other dude had Forte (3 touchdowns!!!!). And bloody Washington gives the goal line carries to fecking Helu (3 TOUCHDOWNS"¤#/#¤). Feed the Morris-beast! He (my fantasy team) needs touchdowns!

What, you see plenty of fannying about. It's even worse when you see a big 300lbs guy get knocked over by a bare touch. To be fair though it is rarer.

Indy have so far managed to beat three of the best teams in the NFL (San Francisco; Seattle; Denver). They are the real deal.

feckin hell. I don't watch a lot of NFL so I can honestly say I've never seen that stuff before. ok, I'll re-phrase; the times I've watched it they've behaved well ;)

Yup, and according to the guys on C4, they removed the rule from the website, edited out that bit, and re uploaded it after the game, or something.
Yeah, but that's because the rule initially put up on NFL.com was wrong, in the rule book given to all teams for the upcoming season it doesn't mention anything about the line of scrimmage. The penalty was the correct call, the only thing I'd dispute is why it's unsportsmanlike behaviour, 15 yards and an automatic first down seems like a ridiculously disproportionate punishment, a 5 yard penalty for illegal formation or something seems far more apt. Also, as I've seen mentioned elsewhere, there is no way this was the first time this season a player has done this when defending a field goal, but I suppose not applying the law correctly previously doesn't make applying the law correctly this time wrong. The laws of the game are so ridiculously convoluted though, it's one of the reasons it took me so long to get into American football, for what is quite a simple game in theory, they don't half make it complicated.

Reggie Wayne done for the season. Big blow for Indy.

too funny.
the Onion better watch out though. Snyder can be litigious. He sued the City Paper in DC over some stuff it said about him a few years ago, before eventually dropping it. It made him look petty and spoiled, and a poor sport, imo.
