Not sure what base defense Minnesota employ but Dallas just released Jay Ratliff. Granted he's been oft-injured the last 2-3 seasons he can play DT in a 4-3 (best suited with a bigger DT next to him) or as a DE in a 3-4 (too small to play NT in 3-4 and this is part reason why a) he was oft-injured in Dallas as they continued to use him at NT, and b) he's more effective as a DE in a 3-4).

Minnesota runs a 4-3, with Shariff Floyd and Kevin Williams rotating as the DT, and two journeymen rotating as the NT. So it's a NT we need Leroy Guion and Fred Evans aren't good enough. None of them are good enough to consistently take on double teams.

And Mayo is out for the season? Jesus. Two perennial pro bowlers gone from the defense, Talib injured, Adrian Wilson hasn't even been able to play a game. Sad thing is this is the first year that the Pats have had a good defense since about 2009. If they had last years O with an uninjured D they would probably be favourites for the Super Bowl. At least Gronk is back though
