NFL Thread 2013-14

Didn't get to stay up and watch this. Thank feck for that too.... What an absolute shit sandwich, topped off by the Jets proving they are complete shitc**ts personified, no surprised there though!

On the upside, Edelman, Talib.

This game is nowhere near as entertaining as when these 2 met last year & (IMO) the single greatest lol moment in sport occurred:
The crowning glory of two of the most fun minutes in the history of football.

It wasn't the best game, but it made me appreciate just how amazing a QB Tom Brady is. Even with all those rookies dropping balls and running bad routes, he still managed to make the offense produce some drives.

He's quality, every part of his game is so polished, have to respect that.

Honestly, Brady would have looked as good as ever if the receivers weren't bad. His throws, timing and general play was all excellent. I think he had like one attempt overthrown?
Edelman was quite great too, despite often being double and triple covered.

You’re not going to see me being critical of #12 often.

As bad as some of the drops were he left some throws out there as well. Missed Edelman after he toasted Cromartie on a double move, in the first quarter. The throw on the Thompkins reviewed TD was slightly overthrown. Threw Dobson out of bounds when he got separation on the right sideline and a few other iffy intermediate throws. Terrible decision to go all Doug Flutie and scramble out of field goal range just before half time and was saved from intentional grounding by Washington working back towards the ball.

The Dobson TD was basically a blown coverage, even though the fake was terrific.

Then there’s the whole body language issue, which I’m not a fan of.

To his credit he did come out and address it to the media.

Fair points there, I just appreciated his overall play despite the mistakes.

The big game tomorrow: SF @ Seattle, who does everyone think will win?

Playbook:

1st down: Run it with AP
2nd down: Run it with AP
3rd and 8: Throw a 4 yard pass to Kyle Rudolph
4th down: Punt

Rinse and repeat.
Experimental Playbook:

1st down: Run it with AP
2nd down: Run it with AP
3rd and 8: Throw a 4 yard pass to AP
4th down: Fake punt to AP

The Vikings are going to have to make a decision on Ponder soon, if this continues.

They have some players in place to give Cassel a shot to be successful.

The Eagles coach taking timeouts so the Chargers could move forward and make the field goal easier really is the stupidest bit of coaching I've seen in a while. It was a field goal game, if he made it they win, if he doesn't it goes into overtime, so why give them two chances to move the ball forward with very safe plays and make the field goal closer? The time on the clock was irrelevant, the kicker missing a 49 yard field goal was more likely than the kicker making a 43 yard field goal and the Eagles being able to score in the eight seconds left. It makes absolutely no sense, unless I'm missing something.

You left the best part, the Eagles didn't have any time out to call when they had the ball. I understand it doesn't make any sense to have a time out with 7 seconds left, but still it's a ludicrously bad call.

Haven't been able to watch the games on Sky today, but looks like there were some exciting games.

Looking forward to Seattle-Niners later tonight. Hopefully this one is worth staying up for...

fecking brilliant day of games so far.

Awesome finish in the Titans/Texans game, 4 attempts at a FG. Into OT.

Edit: Is Saints/Buccs still delayed due to the weather?

It really was. On the other hand, a timeout just saved the game for the Texans, field goal went over first time but a timeout was called, and now he's just missed the second attempt. Some great games today so far.
