NFL 2025

Neither will Purdy. That's why they should think long term, don't pay Purdy and get rid of these two otherworldy skill players for a boatload of picks. If they are smart about it they will be back within two or three years with a starting QB on a rookie contract. To me it feels too much like the Vikings paying Cousins, Purdy is good but not to the point where you can pay him and roll with a lesser roster.
Oh I definitely agree with that, but looking at what they're doing I think they've already decided that they are going to pay Purdy.

Unless you have a unicorn at QB - Mahomes, Allen, Burrow, Lamar and maybe Hurts - going rookie QB is the way to go at the moment. Some borderline cases like Stroud, Herbert et al maybe, but that's about it. Commanders and Vikings are in prime positions as the momemt, maybe Chicago as well.

Since dreams are being granted, it would be amazing if somehow Jeanty was available at 24, it's totally unrealistic but Jefferson was available at 22 while being the most productive college receiver in that draft.

Bears.

If the Penn State & Meechigan TE’s are gone early, I don’t see him lasting past Denver.

Of course now that I say that we’ll end up taking DT Nolen or something…

I can see Jerry taking Jeanty at 12.

The RB class is deep this draft according to analysts on ESPN and NFL Live. There will be some studs found in the middle rounds.

I expect the Bears to get him for some reason.

Stealing a page right out of the ole Tom Brady playbook.

Not exactly, Brady signed under market value contracts. Here Mahomes did nothing other than receiving larger signing bonus in place of future guaranteed money and roster bonuses.

The Chiefs get the Mr Irrelevant pick. I reckon we should try and trade it to the Jets for a higher pick because Woody is desperate to find the next Brock Purdy.

True, an important distinction. Guess I didn't really pay close attention when this was happening 10-15 years ago, but why wasn't Brady criticized more by fellow QBs and the players association for taking less money? You would think there would have been more outside pressure for Brady to continually reset the QB market. Don't think he was ever even the highest paid QB. Obviously, worked out great for him and the Pats as they were stacking SBs.

That's a very good question since it's the excuse given whenever players reach for the richest contract. I think that it's easier to do when you are winning, no one can really come to you and question your decision. The disappointing thing for me is that they "demand" larger contracts that eat a lot of cap space but don't actual have that much money guaranteed, the figures are largely an ego thing that still takes money away from other positions.

I would have to check but there is a scenario where my initial statement is somewhat wrong, Brady could have signed smaller contracts with the same amount of guarantees.

I think because there were enough great QBs who were doing that so him one upping them once or twice in his career wouldn’t have made that much of a difference? Just like it isn’t for Mahomes now. You had Rodgers, Manning, Brees, Roethlisberger, even Rivers in the mix back then who were able to reset the market.

I could really do without fecking A-a-ron on my team. By now, it really looks like they made a serious miscalculation on the QBs. They should have just kept Fields. His contract with the Jets really isn't too expensive.
I thought it would have been the smarter move keeping Fields and then going all in for one next year as the QB options are no great this year. We've literally done a QB swap with the Jets :lol:

NFC seems very open next season

Eagles lost a lot of starters so defense likely to take a step back

Washington going all in but second season of QB can go either way

Niners have lost a lot of players as well

Vikings seem to be loaded on a lot of positions but of course difficult to say without knowing about the QB

Rams and Lions will probably be up there. Packers have also made some good signings.

Really hoped he'd find a better landing spot than that. He got his bag though.

I don’t think you can really judge a player for whatever decision they take when it comes to where they want to position themselves in terms of true value contracts vs taking a lesser contract to win.

Situations are very different for each, and winning vs making the most money carry different weights in each persons priorities. And that’s completely fair. It isn’t a players responsibility to build a winning team around their true value. Likewise if winning is their ultimate goal, then it’s their prerogative if they want to help their team have more money to win and resetting market values isn’t their responsibility or problem either.

Not sure if that was directed at me or not, but if so I definitely agree. Just from a selfish point of view, having seen Tank since he came into the league, I'd have liked to see him go somewhere and win.

Think he was talking about the Brady conversation

The Vikings being an option for Rodgers frightens me as much as it intrigues me.
