NFL 2024

Each drive we have a good defensive play or two but we can’t get off the field. Gibbs and Williams will hurt us all night.

Dan Campbell wants to be brave and go for it on 4th down. I think real bravery would be denying penalties against the niners.

Fun half

That was a really bad pick when you see where the Lions DB was.

Downside of anticipation throws I guess. That’s not as bad as the first one but still.

Not sure why Kyle has abandoned the run game

So Campbell decides to play all out in this meaningless game a week before the decider for the NFC. If he loses that game then his team are the 5th seed, have to play the week after and are on the road for the rest of the playoffs. In an alternate reality he rests his players this week and plays the backups vs 49ers, beats the Vikings for the 1 seed, has yet another week of rest and home field for the playoffs. It might work out for him doing what he did tonight but it's fecking stupid in my opinion.

Purdy injured. Looks like it could be the right elbow again. He’s holding his wrist but ulnar injury at the elbow can cause pain in the wrist. Horrible timing for him with upcoming contract negotiations

Dan Campbell playing all his starters against the niners in a bit of a meaningless game. Don't really understand his thinking there. Win or lose tonight, the number 1 seed is decided with their game against the Vikings. The only way winning helps them tonight is if their game against the Vikings finishes in a tie.
Dan Campbell's insanity won my parlay

How does that maths work? Would they hold the 14 3 tie breaker over Vikings and eagles?

Aye so if they beat the Vikings they are 1 seed and they don't they are 5th seed. Maybe he thought a week off they wouldn't be coming in hot
Yeah I think the other thing is that by resting you probably make that game next week feel even bigger but just think that if they lose next week then they will regret not having any break at all

Vikes @ Lions will make history on Sunday. First ever matchup between 13 or more win teams in regular season history. First ever 14 win team as a wildcard.

What a game that will be.

He knew it was the fantasy finals gameweek..

I'll die on this hill - wild card teams with a better record should get to host the wild card game. It's madness a 14-win team will have to play on the road to a team with 4-5 fewer wins. It's a fluke of course but it's always been bizarre to reward mediocrity/shittier division win with a home game. It's the owners making this rule though, they want that home game cash grab.

Yeah, we’ve seen several times where a possible ‘division of death’ - to mimic a phrase from the World Cup - turns out to be a false prophecy. The NFC W, AFC W or E from recent history ended up being duds in terms of strength throughout.

The divisions are too small to carry that weight into the playoffs in the off chance it was actually a division of death and not just a random group of crap teams.

Rams resting their starters for the last game which is an interesting decision because if they lose and the bucs win which is very likely then the Rams become the 4th seed and have to play the loser of Detroit/minnesota in round 1

It's a bizarre decision, go for the higher seed when it's available. Also have to think what if the 7th seed beat the 2nd seed which gives the 3rd seed another home playoff game (if 3rd seed wins of course). Have to consider this stuff, imo.

Well there it is. Good luck @Redplane in the playoffs!
Ty. I just hope for once we don't have another Detroit Tigers like era where we arguably should have won at least one World Series during the Cabrera peak days. I still consider the Lions to be the underdog - including against the Vikings - but we can dream again. You can't help but wonder though if the game last year against you guys with Dan's insane call was the closest this team will get. Hope not. I actually agreed however with him playing starters this last one - it's not footie and players have ample time to recover between games. I tend to believe it's bad luck to rest most of them and potentially lose before a big game.
