NFL 2024 | Wild Card Weekend

It's pretty funny how they are able to get the big corporate bucks for the worst possible seats in the stadium.

Sam Darnold has lost about $80m in the last 2 weeks.

I get the call to go for it but it needs to be an RPO on 4th and critical.

To be a fly in the Vikings locker room at the half...

Based on this showing it's probable had Minnesota managed to get the 1 seed they'd likely have gone down at home in the divisional round.

Mol you should have saved your rage for Herbert.

Jerry is going to go after Deion. I can sense it and it will be a circus
Nah, they had the #1 NFC seed the following year. What they haven't recovered from is dismissing Jimmy and later Parcells who had righted the sinking ship and dysfunction within. But that year with the top seed they lost to the Giants at home thanks to a two critical drops by Crayton and a TD drop by Bennett in the end zone. Too many mistakes when it was really setup for them to host Green Bay for the NFCCG and possibly a game with New England, who probably would have beat Dallas a second time that year*, however, Wade Phillips was pretty good at game-planning for second/third in-season meetings.

48-27 in Dallas in week 6, granted that scoreline is a bit deceiving - it was 31-24 going into the fourth quarter - and 38-27 with 10:03 remaining. New England kicked a late field goal then Romo was picked inside Dallas 20 trying to do something from nothing. And what was normal that year in the BRT season (Belicunt Revenge Tour) was NE playing first team offense in the red zone with under 3:00 remaining and a 1-yd score with 0:19 left in a game already with a 41-27 margin.
Johnson would have had them winning four in a row. But even then the team had to break up with the wages the players wanted. That and Aikman’s concussions along with Novacek getting career ending injuries finished them off. They rebuilt and Romo did his thing and Dak did his thing. Both were just not good enough in the big games.
Now I fear neon Deion will be on the sidelines which will turn into a circus unless he surrounds himself with great coaching. At least he won’t have his head down in his clipboard or staring puzzled up at the giant screen when things go wrong like McCarthy did every single game without moving an inch on the sideline to motivate or scream at his players. Sanders will motivate.

So I was told a couple of weeks back that the NFC teams are dangerous, then the 14 wins Vikings promptly proceeded to fall over like a sack of potatoes.

Save us Bills/Ravens from another Chiefs/Eagles SB.

Can someone explain to me what the issue is with Tom Brady doing the Lions game this weekend while the Raiders are interviewing Ben Johnson? I genuinely don't see the issue in that, even with him being a minority owner. Weird situation, sure, but don't see how it affects anything or anyone.

Think that the Raiders are interviewing both Aaron Glenn and Ben Johnson, but I'm in the same boat... I can't see what difference it makes. He already has restricted access because of the minority owner thing, but in the post season with the Raiders out, I can't see what he could gain anyway even if he did have full access, especially where we don't have a GM or a HC

As far as him announcing, I would say 'conflict of interest' simply for the lead up to the games themselves.

Which conflict of interest would that be though? It's in Johnson's and Glenn's interest to prepare and win the game. Brady's interest would be enticing them for the Raiders HC job but they both already know the Raiders are interested given that they're interviewing with them. He could praise them and stuff, I guess, but what difference does that make?

It's a weird situation altogether that a minority owner is in the broadcasting booth but in this particular situation I don't see the issue.

the issue is that tom brady sucks as an announcer
He's not bad imo but not on the same level as Olsen and Romo (I still enjoy him). First (and last?) year though, entirely different job than being a player so perhaps he needs to grow into it.

If its Chiefs/anyone but Eagles, most people here would support the NFC team
If its bills or Ravens/Eagles everyone here would support the AFC team
If its chiefs/Eagles again then this thread is going to be so depressing

I'm sure he'll perform in the right system

I'm a terrible fan but I'm quite happy with the outcome. I was genuinely scared about the idea of the Vikings paying Darnold instead of going with McCarthy(or Jones if McCarthy needs a longer rehab). The Vikings had a solid season with a flawed roster and they have the money to fix most of the issues if they don't spend a lot on a non-elite QB.

All the lead in days before a game would offer insight to a team's preparation which could then be disseminated into the Raiders' organization. Could build a decent database over time.

And Brady would get that information about the Lions' prep being part of the broadcasting team? I thought he was already banned from certain activities given his minority stake. But would make sense then, yeah.

I was pretty confident we'd be moving away from Darnold regardless so i was bitterly disappointed we lost. Probably the manner of the defeat more than the defeat itself. Was just embarrassing and not representative at all of how we've played for the majority of the season.

Wasn't under any illusions that we'd progress any further so maybe the silver lining is a slightly better draft pick.

Slightly worried about the Eagles Rams game after last night. Hurts loves to hold on to the ball for ages which is what got Darnold killed as well. Hopefully the cold philly weather & short week will help slow down the Rams offence.

Eagles O Line will offer much more protection that the Vikings one you'd think. Hurts is also more mobile than Darnold, he'll be able to get out of there instead of dropping back further and still taking the sack.

On top of that the Eagles can actually run the ball. The Viking can't seem to ever get that side of the game going so can be predictable at times which means more and quicker pressure on the QB as the expectation is that it's a passing play.

Nakobe Dean will be a huge miss. Baun has been getting all the plaudits, but Dean has been huge in stopping the run, and Burks is quite a downgrade. He was missing tackles all day against a hapless Giants last week. The Rams are playing a lot better lately than when the Eagles beat them earlier in the year too, and Jared Verse is the only guy I've seen Mailata have a real problem handling this season too. I think it'll be a much closer game.

If I'm in the Vikings front office I'm definitely letting Darnold test the market, and probably moving on to JJ and DJ, possibly find another scrap heap guy for further competition and/or draft a developmental project like Daniels/Ewers/Gabriel/Howard/Leonard in the 4th rd. Then spread that 35-45m cap hit that would be on Darnold in loading up for a 2-3 year run.
