NFL 2024 | Wild Card Weekend

I believe Jayden Reed can be that guy - doesn’t get a lot of targets though and if he does they’re often gimmicky designed plays specifically for him.
He doesn't get those targets because he's not open enough and not good enough to warrant them. He's a number 2 receiver at best. At least for now. He might improve, we managed to do that with other receivers before. But as of right now, he's just not all that. He completely faded away for the last stretch of the season.

Sorry @Rado_N that was a bit of a kicking. You should be happy though mate as the Broncos have had a decent season and been decent to watch more often than not.

Yea I mentioned to roadtrip earlier, I can’t be mad, massively outperformed expectations this season and did so whilst carrying the biggest dead cap hit.

Hopefully we can renew some key FA’s and add some talent in skill positions to help Nix next year.

I agree with you, I just can't understand his usage from mid season onwards.

He was incredible early on in the season.

It's a pity that one of the teams in the late game last night had to go out. Much more entertaining than a lot of the other games.

The Baker redemption arc was good but it's great that the Commanders got through. I see a lot of comments on the recap video about how every success now just emphasises what a blight Snyder was

McCarthy is out in Dallas.

I hope the circus that would be Deon in the Big D with Jerry actually materializes. We’re owed some entertainment.

There's no denying CJ Stroud is a good dude but this "I'm so grateful and amazed that The Lord has uplifted this team" crap is hard to listen to.

I’m still yet to be convinced that Jordan Love is elite. I personally feel he is massively over hyped. He may just scrape into the top 10 QBs in the league, but he is some way off the best QBs in the league as stands.

Is there anyone who actually puts him there though? He’s still miles off the likes of Lamar Burrow Allen etc.

Fringe top 10 seems generous but I guess you could make a case for it.

Its only his 2nd full season though. some players can take a while to get going fully. Concerns are valid though.

Oh for sure. By no means writing him off or anything. As I said above to Robin, I just get a sense the way many pundits talk about him, he’s amazing but I personally just don’t see it at all.

Nix suffered three traverse fractures in his back in the first half of the Raiders game in week 12, and has been playing through the pain since, not missing a single snap.

I feel bad for ever doubting this guy.

We still haven’t recovered from Romo’s fumbled snap in 2007. Last year was just a continuation like every terrible loss since the dynasty years.

Nah, they had the #1 NFC seed the following year. What they haven't recovered from is dismissing Jimmy and later Parcells who had righted the sinking ship and dysfunction within. But that year with the top seed they lost to the Giants at home thanks to a two critical drops by Crayton and a TD drop by Bennett in the end zone. Too many mistakes when it was really setup for them to host Green Bay for the NFCCG and possibly a game with New England, who probably would have beat Dallas a second time that year*, however, Wade Phillips was pretty good at game-planning for second/third in-season meetings.

*
48-27 in Dallas in week 6, granted that scoreline is a bit deceiving - it was 31-24 going into the fourth quarter - and 38-27 with 10:03 remaining. New England kicked a late field goal then Romo was picked inside Dallas 20 trying to do something from nothing. And what was normal that year in the BRT season (Belicunt Revenge Tour) was NE playing first team offense in the red zone with under 3:00 remaining and a 1-yd score with 0:19 left in a game already with a 41-27 margin.

This game showed what I was saying all year: we looked much better at times than we actually were. In the end, the talent in the Packers roster gets overrated, because the team is young. But we do lack elite talent, both on offense and defense. On offense, there’s no reliable number 1 receiver. On defense it’s worse. We have no pass rush, especially from the interior. We struggle to defend the middle of the field and our corner room is a disaster, especially when Alexander is out, which happens a lot. And this comes after investing a whole lot in our pass rush and the linebacker room.
This franchise simply doesn’t know how to build a defense.

Heard this morning the average age is 25.6 for Green Bay, definitely a young squad. Then I remembered the 92 Cowboys average age was 25.5 and they won it all, the next year was slightly older, around 26 average. Having a great defense certainly helps.

Saw a tweet this morning that the league does a really good job to convice you that there are lots of elite QBs while in reality there are only 5-6 of them at any given moment. The fact that a lot of teams were shit as well this season leads to mediocre teams with better records than they're actually worthy of. And it usually shows in the WC round with not-so competitive games.

This is an excellent point. And the worrisome bit is any decent QB, or one of those "almost elite" or "potentially elite" gets a massive contract at some point which then limits cap movement. It's a vicious cycle and clubs just aren't figuring it out, most of them that is.

Let's hope we don't get some nonsense controversy tonight like the last time these teams met. Even if you're not sure it was a facemask it certainly looks borderline horse-collarish to a point I'd expect a flag thrown for one or the other. But the head swivel alone should have a ref thinking that's not right/doesn't look normal. And seeing how it's a scoring play I'm surprised it can't be reversed for a clear infraction, though I know penalties can't be called on replay but one would think the league should grant powers to "fix" something so egregious. Like replay the down or be permitted to recall a penalty on an act that could be determined player safety related, like twisting one's neck.

I want the Rams to win. Rams Eagles will be a fecking quality game.

Wow the QB can do that? That's absolute cock.

How's that an incomplete pass? He knew he was gonna fumble it so basically just dropped it. NFL has some proper stupid rules.

True but it's still a matchup issue. Totally depends if the Rams match well against Philly or if the birds just have the massive advantage regardless.
Philly are a complete team defensively. I don't think it really takes a great DB group to stop their passing game and it's more on what Jalen Hurts turns up. The best matchup is whoever can score points.

Ps @MrMarcello I hold your opinion in the highest regard because of this:
