NFL 2024 | Championship Day

I’m not. Sadly.

A winner doesn’t go 0-4 in close games to anybody when it matters most. I’m not even saying I expect him to win all of them. Even 1 would be enough. But after a while, it can’t be “but this” or “but that”. Yesterday the game was in the hands of his offence at the end of the day. And in that moment he failed.
Yeah but you can't seriously state that Allen ain't the guy and then say that it's down to Lamar, who has shown himself up to be a perennial choker. At least Allen gets himself in a position to win.

For me Allen needed to be a bit more calmer which he has been this season but last night was basically 2018-2020 cocaineball Josh Allen. He actually was lucky that he didn't throw an interception because he threw so many turnover worthy passes

Seem a bit harsh on Allen. The Chiefs were picking up first downs at will and it just felt like no matter what Josh did, Mahomes would come back with whatever time was left and score. The play calling was also a huge difference between the two teams.

Saquon has to be a big concern for the chiefs after seeing what Cook did.

Yep exactly.

Allen is done. Honestly.

I knew from the first drive where he almost cannoned 2 picks that when it came down to it, he just doesn’t have the resolve. He’s an excellent QB, but he just isn’t a winner.

He looked comfortable when behind. But when they got close or when they had a chance to properly go ahead, he just struggled.

Credit to Mahomes man. He’s just a winner. Simple as that. Can’t remember another guy who elevates themselves in that way when it’s the big moments except Brady. The reality though is Mahomes is another level because physically he’s just much more talented. GOAT territory already.

Born in the wrong era, same as Lamar.

The Chiefs are a machine and make everyone look bad by comparison.

I dont really buy this 'era' talk, its not impossible to go up against a dynasty and get a ring, Joe Flacco managed one!

These guys just aren't taking advantage when available, and its on them. Burrow slayed the dragon then lost to the Rams in a whimper, Lamar flopped at home when Mahomes had no receivers, and now Allen couldn't manage to score when given a tied game and more than 3 minutes on the clock with 2 TOs.

Brady, Manning, Rodgers, Brees, Rivers, Big Ben era would've been the wrong era to be born. Mahomes is the only real great QB this era.

Did you miss the Andrews drop or are you going on the technicality that it was to tie the game?

Looks like Allen quite clearly got past the marker on that 4th down attempt. Which I already thought on first view but they didn't even show a replay of that in the Game in 40 compilation.

Could've made a huge difference, but not complaining too much since Allen still had a chance to win the game. But just weird (once again) how the judge with the best view seemingly ruled it a first down and then gets overruled by the other sideline judge who had a worse view on it (or whose view was even probably blocked entirely).

I actually stayed up very late and watched the Chiefs game, it was quite good except for the bits showing Taylor Swift. I know feck all about American Football, but it seems to me that whilst Allen has a better arm and is a big unit, Mahomes is a better athlete and just has more of that X factor. In general I thought maybe the Chiefs have a slightly better defence, and that was the difference. I think the Eagles v Chiefs will be another thriller, this time I suspect that Eagles’s running back will be the difference though.

I'm also basic in my understanding of the sport but yeah Mahomes has an edge and focus that makes him hard to beat. That said, maybe is the quarterbacks were swapped last night we'd be saying the opposite

Nah, Allen is the better athlete all things considered at his size. Mahomes has the better offensive mind coaching him and a shortstop arm that can place a throw accurately regardless of whatever the situation demands.

I guess the NFL found the one matchup that forces me to root for the Chiefs to win again. Sigh.

What I mean is that Mahomes is a more mobile athlete, quick feet, whereas Allen more a physical athlete. It’s more that Mahomes is easier on the eye so to speak. Mahomes would probably be a good footballer.. I mean soccer player. Allen more back rower in rugby.

Having gone through the game again it feels like Bills were kind of lucky to be even close in that game. Think chiefs were definitely the better team.

Yeah I was thinking that, Allen would have won if they had switched sides. But both are terrific players playing for terrific teams.

yeah I agree she sucks

Nothing against Josh Allen, who I think is a fine QB, but Mahomes just wins games. I've always heard it said that the definition of a great coach is that he can beat you with your players as well as his own if the teams are relatively even. IMLTHO it's the same with QBs. If Mahomes had been the Bills QB, there's no doubt in my mind, he would have found a way to win.

Well tbh Mahomes in some years had little support but for the last few years he has had a very strong team. His defense has been top 5 in the last 3years, very solid special teams and he has a HOF coach. Mahomes obviously is the best of this generation and will probably be GOAT but let's not behave like he has been carrying the team.

It’s the NFL equivalent of would you back up onto your dads dick to get out of your mum or thrust into your mum to get off of your dads dick.

Actually the Chiefs stats are pretty unremarkable all round. They have the 9th ranked defense and the 16th ranked offense. They just seem to do enough to win. In pretty much every game Mahomes pulls off 1-2 plays that are game changers, but since they've made a habit of winning 1 score games, those 1-2 plays make all the difference.

I don’t have the hate for the Eagles that seems to be so ever present elsewhere so it’s not a difficult situation for me to want them to win. I’ve only ever known one Eagles fan and I’d be delighted for him if they win, more most importantly feck KC.

 damn man.

Chiefs are like City to me. Dunno any of their fans. Their success is mildly annoying, and I’d rather see a different team win, it’s too boring otherwise, but would definitely rather Chiefs than the Eagles.

Same as this frankly. Obviously I would have much preferred the Commanders and Bills in the SB, but given the two its hardly a choice. Kermit and the Chiefs can do one

if we are ever to get anyone different in the AFC, it’s really down to Lamar (question marks himself) and Burrow. Potentially Stroud.

All the other hopefuls in recent times - Herbert, Allen, etc. have proven themselves to be unable to handle the big moments.

Rather bizarre to call out Allen's record against Mahomes yet claim Lamar is one of two that can topple the Chiefs dynasty, especially considering Burrow has actually done something the others haven't. The other fact being Allen is 2-0 in the playoffs against Lamar, who supposedly can knock off Mahomes yet lost in his only playoff appearance against KC.

What exactly has Lamar accomplished in January to anoint him above Allen in this regard?

I literally wrote he has questions himself … I don’t have faith in him either.
