NFL 2023

Josh Allen’s college completion percentage was 56%.

The intangibles are there for Richardson. There are not many humans on this planet who are 6’4 244lbs with a 4.44 and a passing highlight reel like he has. Highest ceiling in the draft imo. Landing spot and player development will be crucial though of course.

Florida has a far better supporting cast for Richardson than Wyoming did for Allen, that certainly plays into the statistics.

I saw Richardson play a handful of games at Florida and not much did he do that gave me full belief he'll translate to the NFL. It's literally his measurables taking him to this level. Thirty years ago he's being switched to WR or SS.

Isn’t it all about the guaranteed money with Jackson? Just don’t think he’s gonna get what he wants even away from the Ravens. 250 / 135 was close to what the Ravens offered at the beginning of the season. No team is ever going to do what Cleveland did again. Toss in his injury record plus his not having an agent, it just might not work out the way the kid wants it to.

I suspect if this actually happens then he might end up with a more lucrative offer from a team given that they will have to fork out less draft capital than what they would have done if they'd gone down the normal trade route. The noise from media personalities is that £135m guaranteed is 'disrespectful' because of how good he is, but his value also has to be based on how available he's been for the last few years. Given his playing style I would not be surprised if he gets hobbled next year and is never the same player again, like we see with a lot of talented RBs in the league.

Well put. And I can't help but think that not having an agent is a negative. An elite pro athlete needs to have representation to do the dirty work, take the criticism from the team, & shield it from the player. Just seems a poorly managed saga from Jackson's side.

@WeePat not really something to get overly excited about. A 4-year deal is long as well, and I doubt he will be coming cheap.

Ah so here we are. Underwhelming but at the same time probably the best out of a pretty average FA market and we know running it back with Winston and Dalton wasn’t an option plus Philly own our FRP this year. I’m willing to give him a chance. This probably makes us division favourites, though that’s not saying much after last season.

Easily division favorites.

It'll be interesting to see how long Kamara gets suspended if he is fou d guilty of his battery charge.

He will be missed but his cap hit was too high.

I think Kamara will get 6 games.

I've seen some rumours linking us to your boy Lenny. Probably nothing concrete there but he would be a great addition.

He still has juice left. This will be a better Bucs to Saints trade / move than the last one!

Wasn't Matt Corrall supposed to be one of the better QBs in last year's draft? Has he played at all for the Panthers? They'll almost 100% draft another one this year. I bet they're hoping Stroud falls to them.

Winston apparently getting booted today.

Not the worst deal in history

Doesn’t surprise me in the least that he went on that douchebags podcast unfortunately.

Wolfe has appeared on Brandon Perna’s YouTube channel a few times which have always been interesting and don’t necessitate contributing to Joe Rogans income.

Giants should call his bluff as I'd be surprised if any club offer Jones anything north of $25M per. Not saying that won't happen but buyer beware.
North of 25 only if some of it is not guaranteed. That should be the rational approach. He will need expensive weapons to elevate a defence.
Though, since it is NY he might get 30 M guaranteed or so.

You underestimating how stupid some front offices are. He’ll get 30/35 somewhere else no problem.

I really don't get the Jones hate. He showed (major) improvements in his first season under the guy who turned Josh Allen from a raw prospect with one of the worst rookie seasons of all-time into an NFL superstar.

$35m isn't even that much at the moment and will look like even less money in 2-4 years time when contracts will certainly have gone up even further. For example, the Saints have given Derek Carr $37.5m on average per year. We know what Carr is, and it ain't all that. Jones showed that the Giants can win with him and make the playoffs with him last year, and it's up to the coaching staff to build on that. Their alternative is losing Jones and straight back to the drawing board - with a lost season in 2023 since they're not in a position to draft a startable QB this year.

Carr did get 25 M per season guaranteed.

All valid points, but not every QB is Josh Allen and Allen significantly improved after his first year. Jones has been around a while, and yes with a different coaching staff and shit team at times, but giving him a big contract with significant guarantees equally has its risks. You’re right though that the “what if we release him” question has to be properly answered. But tying yourself up to a QB who might remain bang average could sink you for a few seasons as well.

I just find this kind of outlay on RBs ridiculous. You don’t need Pollard and Elliott. You just don’t. And you can’t replace either with a like for like guaranteed for less money, but you could very easily find a complementary running back for a significantly reduced cost and invest that kind of money elsewhere. The Cowboys do make some baffling choices at times.

On the Carr contract, it’s something that would have worked well for the Saints a few years ago but I’m not sure that roster is where it needs to be to justify getting Carr in for that price. On the other hand, it’s a weak division atm and this gives a leg up on everyone else if you ask me. But will it take them far into a post season run? I’d be surprised.

Again, not surprised because the money he was asking for is just too much for what he is. Had a good end to the regular season and postseason but was actual dogshit for the majority of the season. Good luck to him if he can find a team that will pay him what he wants.
