NFL 2023

That’s so massively devoid of context it’s legitimately ridiculous.

The context is Brady. His absence leaves Belichick with a losing record. If you're familiar with his pre-New England coaching stint in Cleveland, he was mediocre at best (only one winning season in 5 years). His post Brady NE run is nearly identical (one winning season in 4 years). He didn't have a single losing season under Brady, in fact they only had one season in which he didn't finish with double digit wins when Brady was his QB.

That was good on Belichick to mention all those other people in the organization helping with their success, especially his verbal nod to the video production people.

Is this one of the most wide open playoffs ever? I can see anyone beating anyone. Heck I don't even trust the Ravens and 49ers to win their games the week after.

Seems like it. All I want is for the Lions to beat the Rams though. The rest would be a bonus. Losing to Stafford would be a big slap in the face, even though I have nothing negative to say about the guy.

I've got home winners in every game through to the Superbowl. So this week its Houston, KC and Buffalo in the AFC, Tampa, Detroit and Dallas in the NFC. Then next week 9ers and Dallas, plus Baltimore and Buffalo, and then finally Baltimore and 9ers through to the Superbowl.

Never really ever works that way in the end. There will be quite a few upsets I recon along the way this year.

Does look wide open but just hoping Dallas, Rams and KC lose.

Already official. Surprised they didn't even interview Vrabel but Mayo has been a popular (in-house) name for a few years now, so makes sense.

Apparently it was in Mayo's contract that he would succeed Belichick so I guess the Vrabel links were always just speculation and nothing more.

Happy with Mayo. Mayo or Vrabel were my preferences. Problem however remains the significant lack of talent on the team.
New HC, youngest one in the league, and you should have Caleb Williams, Drake Maye or Jayden Daniels under center to start next season.

Future looks brighter than it did last offseason imo.

Hell of a leap to go from linebacker coach to head coach no?

These weather forecasts in KC and Buffalo are absolutely bonkers

fecking hell am I reading that right, expecting near zero Fahrenheit?

That’s -18° for those of use who use proper measurements

Adam Peters leaving the Niners to take over as GM and President of Football Ops at the Commanders. He was credited with a lot of the roster building so interesting to see how this goes. As usual a load of Niners coaches being interviewed too.

Sun God makes All-Pro but couldn’t make it to the Pro Bowl rosters.

Bit early for draft chat but if assuming Williams and Maye are already gone with the first two picks, Harrison’s talent level from everything I have read (and obligatory highlight vids) puts him above Daniel’s for me. Too big a talent to pass over

Suddenly the Lions have a covered and heated Ford Field doesn't seem so bad. About same temps expected here in the D area. Wind-chill probably worse. Then again, those temps aren't that bad compared to what we can get.

Depends on how Mayo and management view Mac Jones, or if say a veteran like Russell Wilson ends up there. They could also trade down for more draft capital.

Could be a 1999 where a QB was so valued at third the Bengals rolled the dice on Akili Smith with so many top talents available - James, Williams, Holt, Bailey, and Boston all made at least one Pro Bowl from picks 4-8 along with picks 10-11 (McAlister, Culpepper).

The likely reason Richardson didn't go third last year is Houston did not trade the pick. It's possible Richardson goes third in most every other scenario, a massive overreach at fourth let alone if he had gone third (he may develop into a great QB but I have my doubts). I see Daniels in the same light although he was far more productive in college whereas Richardson never showed much of anything for me to see him being rated so high. It must have come down to his measurables.

Clubs will value the QB position as must have - it is of course - that Daniels may very well go third ahead of probable PB locks in Harrison Jr or Alt. That could see a club calling up NE to move to third for Daniels... or Harrison Jr, perhaps.

MHJ going to the Pats is literally nightmare stuff.

I am a fan of bad weather games but at some point surely the NFL should have a rule to step in & move the game or something.
