Taking the fall for the GM?
I wouldn’t say their roster has been stacked with much talent though the last 2 years and you also have to remember the QB injuries. It’s not been a great record but he’s definitely shown he is a good HC and suspect he will get another opportunity at some point soon.I think Vrabel is a very good head coach but I didn't realise how bad they've been record wise the last 2 seasons
I always wanted him at the Patriots but I still think Jerod Mayo is the favourite when Bill leaves.
I truly hate the word “winningest”, it’s so unnecessary and stupid.
Did not expect this given it was another winning season. Feel like it's probably for the best but glad he's sticking around as an advisor.

Judging by his press conference, think it was less that he was tired of it and more that he knew it might be his last game, at least as the Seahawks HC.It's funny i watched the end of the Seahawks game on the weekend and did think he looked really old on the touchline like he was tired of it.
Least he went out on a win but I'll always remember him for screwing up in the superbowl and giving Patriots another win
Yeah, shame that dominance ended. He finished 8-0 against the Eagles, glad Drew Lock kept that record intactEnded his time 0-5 against the 9ers which is bizarre given o think he went 16-2 before that
And the Goat college coach leaving a blue-blood gig open - not even counting the Michigan job yet. Lots of uncertainty ahead for desirable HC candidates.Carroll gone
Vrabel gone
Sirianni maybe out / likely out
Belichick maybe out
next season is going to be CRAZY! And that is before you start thinking we might have Harbaugh back in the league with the Chargers.
If they let BB work with Ridder or Heinecke he won't win more than 5 games unless he's not involved in play-calling and they get in a genius OC.Falcons would be an intriguing destination for Belicunt considering Blank has tried to lure some legends in the past - Gibbs, Parcells - only to get the stiff arm. If he did end up there that's probably a Fields trade out of the picture.
Don't think he'd go to a team with such liability & uncertainty at the QB position.Falcons would be an intriguing destination for Belicunt considering Blank has tried to lure some legends in the past - Gibbs, Parcells - only to get the stiff arm. If you're talking GM responsibilities, should again be avoided at all costs. The Pats' track record in the draft the last half decade or so is atrocious.I think it's gonna be more about which team gives him the most control to do his thing and Blank wants to win before death arrives.
He could crave the Bears gig with all the draft capital and potentially more by trading Fields.

I'm an armchair NFL fan so please excuse the ignorance, but surely that figure would be the same for most teams who have a franchise QB and the back up is no where near the level they need to complete the plays etc?Bill is 70-82 as a head coach when Brady isn't playing. I doubt he would be successful anywhere else if he chooses to continue coaching.

And doesn't that show that Bill is a great when he has a franchise QB and he still manages to win 45% without?
I'm just thinking how other coaches' records compare when the starting QB is injured yet have a comparable data of how many years together
Can't compare as football is so different from NFL, but I'd love to know what Fergie's record is like should someone like Ronaldo / Keane but be free and the win ratio
Bit of a mish/mash post but hope you get what I'm trying to say
Funnily you mention Bledsoe as I moved to CT back in '91 and the first person I ever heard of who had the same first name as me was him, hence the Pats fan and we were only a few hours from Boston and CT didn't have an NFL team (Go Whalers!!).I think you're probably right to a degree, but its hard to compare since some head coaches win Super Bowls in the absence of franchise QBs (Doug Williams, Hostetler, Dilfer, Brad Johnson, Foles etc). In Bill's case, if you followed his career in the 90s, it was pretty clear that he was struggling as a HC. He actually had another franchise QB in Bledsoe, but he got injured in game two of the 2001 season and Brady was forced to come off the bench. The rest is history.
Might be the worst post in this threadBill is 70-82 as a head coach when Brady isn't playing. I doubt he would be successful anywhere else if he chooses to continue coaching.

Winston gets $107m if he the Saints don’t cut him by the middle of March. Yeah he’s gone
