NFL 2023

Feels like each season there's an NFC West week 18 matchup for one team to get into the playoffs
Yeah, last year Seahawks had to beat Rams in OT to get in, year before niners beat the Rams to get in, year before that Bears got in ahead of the cardinals because they lost to the 9ers and then the Rams on their last 2 games.
2019 season had the 1 seed on the line in the Greenlaw goal line game.

Well it makes sense mathematically because the division has 3 good teams who have been reasonably good for a while now. Also week 18 generally has division matchups only so that obviously is one of the reasons

Mahomes really embarrassed himself yesterday

It’s so stupid. It’s so clearly the correct call and not like it was a late flag. He doesn’t want late penalties “deciding” games? What if it’s the correct decision? Why should timing matter? They just won a Super Bowl with a late correct penalty meaning Philly didn’t get a chance to reply, was he ok with that?

Vinatieri, Ray Guy and I think Morten Andersen?

for the second question, is a trick one and an old school QB who would kick also?
No, he was just a kicker, actually the first one ever drafted.

Guy & Andersen are correct, Vinatieri isn't in but no doubt will be sooner than later.

Would be comical if the NFL would suspend Mahomes a game for his yelling and post-game comments.

Will never happen unfortunately.

 The helmet really pulls the whole thing together. What a goof.

Seriously though, I think the OC should be getting more pelters than the DC right now. There's practically no talent or depth in the back 7, it's ravaged by injuries too, and Desai does seem to be making adjustments with what he has. That offense is stacked, mostly healthy, and Brian Johnson is just running QB draws and bubble screens on 3rd and long for no gain, every game. He's not the guy.

Not surprised the Eagles lost. They’ve lost there how many times in a row now?

Really feels like an “anyone can win it” season. There really aren’t many truly stand out teams, bar the 49ers perhaps. The AFC is wide open.

Issue is that you can’t criticise the OC without questioning Sirriani because it’s his offence. In terms of what they are getting from offense compared to the talent level it’s an absolute crime and Sirriani better get working on it. Absolutely love the fans acting crazy though, the expectations should always be very high. Not like United where we cheer for everyone on all days

Feels like the Titans scored too fast there. Miami still have 1:49 to get a field goal.

Miami looked like a team that had never done this before, on 3rd & 3 with a minute left why are you throwing a pass behind you

Niners first team to qualify for the playoffs after that Packers loss. Some odd results this weekend.

I agree, Sirianni isn't immune to criticism here either. Perhaps it highlights that Steichen was what made this offence go last season, more so than Sirianni. It's the same personnel (arguably better, Swift is a significant upgrade on Sanders IMO) and it's rarely looked close to how it did last season.

I'm glad the standard is high from the fans. I liked the guys outside the facility with the 'run the ball' sign last week, especially because they were right. Not sure I'm on board with the kid in cosplay though, I think he's set his sights on the wrong issue.

Embarrassing loss for the Dolphins, really. Just checked and they still have the Jets, Cowboys, Ravens and Bills on their schedule. They should start to worry about a late-season slide.

The Giants and the Bears only being one game behind for a playoff spot is also quite remarkable given the directions their seasons seemed to be going in only a month or so ago.

I was pretty comfortable thinking we'd beat the Titans and Jets which should have been enough to win the division. Last nights result will make it pretty nervy for the last few games.

Results are setting up for week 18 being a potential AFC East ‘championship game’. Fins need to beat one of the Boys or Ravens to avoid it.

Per The Athletic. Compensation seems a bit out of whack, but could see a few teams defo giving a first up for BB...
