NFL 2023

I couldn't have less confidence in Mac Jones driving down the field to win the game.
I switched it over from redzone to the Jets game. He managed to get tackled for a safety on 3rd down and 15 in his attempted game winning drive

What was the buzz around Zach Wilson when he was drafted?
Arm talent with upside despite sketchy quality of competition and/or production at that level. Late riser that was highly divisive but with enough buzz that it wasn't a surprise he was drafted #2 overall.

Vaguely similar traits that attract the GM types that draft the Bollers/Loves/Allens/Mahomes/Lances of the world; sometimes it works...sometimes it doesn't.

From my limited understanding, it feels impossible to tell who has the processing information and reading ability and who just has the arm. And of course, I'm sure players can be developed better.

Both coaches in NY will be let go after the season. The Giant coach for having the worst season in memory and the Jet coach for being bound to Wilson and also for not having a proper backup for Rodgers.

There was skepticism over Wilson’s ability coming out of college by some people because of where he played and the competition he faced in the WAC.
Compare that to Jalen Hurts and Trevor Lawrence who both played in the SEC. They would never get the stats that Wilson had in college but the defenses they went up against week after week were pro style defenses.

I doubt Saleh has any say on which QB he wants. I strongly feel owners/JD are beholden to their 2nd pick. He definitely has no say in the back up for Rodgers.

Yeah makes sense. I was thinking more of Trey Lance but I don't know much about their play at college level.

I’d be fairly surprised if Saleh gets fired. Their defence is legit and they’ve had some high profile wins. We’ll see I guess

Good points, though Trevor played in the ACC and Hurts developed as a pro prospect at OU in a passing vacuum after being benched in Alabama.

Zach Wilson also won the Polynesian College Player of the Year award in 2020. Thought it was a pisstake on his wiki page but it turns out it's true. Got Hawaiian ancestry through his Dad.

Lance only played 1 full season of college ball, at North Dakota State in the FCS… that said, in his only season he was unstoppable. 2800 yards passing, 28 TD / 0 INT, and 1100 yards rushing with another 14 TD.

McCarthy was outdated as a playcaller in 2017. By 2023 he's simply archaic. There are far superior playcallers now from the Reid & Shanahan trees (KC, SF, MIA, PHI, JAX, etc) that McCarthy would have no chance to beat 4 of them to get to a Super Bowl. As a cowboys fan I was glad he took playcalling over this year so we can just see how useless of a coach he is. He's gotten to 12 wins twice based on what Quinn has done from the defense and the top 5 offense Kellen Moore lead (even he was limited) despite his poor game management. So we'll waste this year with an eventual playoff loss or miss altogether, he'll hopefully get fired and we'll get a good up and coming coach rather than the garbage we've had since 2009

How the first half ended was odd. McCarthy had two timeouts, yet elected to not stop the clock at 0:08 for a 2nd down shot in the end zone. He elected to run the clock to 0:03, call a timeout leaving a timeout on the table, and boot a field goal. That tells me he has zero confidence with Dak in that moment. Can't see any other reason to not take a shot in the end zone.

I reckon any BYU qbs going forward will get better competition now that they’re in a semi big conference.

I think it’s safe to say Kellen Moore wasn’t the issue with this club. Dak did well avoiding sacks last night against an average defense but we will see his faults again against a good defense and the plays called for him will be exposed as the season goes on.I think the coach is going to be on the hot seat sooner rather than later. His play calling and our incredible amount of penalties are killing us. Right now we’re like the Jets with the defense saving us late in games.

Julio Jones away to the Eagles. Would have been a great move a couple years ago not sure how much he has left but you never know.

If i was an Eagle I'd like them making a move like this and going for it rather than sticking with what they have
