When it's 3am, you're down by 10 with your team being dominated and you have to be up at 7am for work...

That was partly on Herbert for me - Everett just had back-to-back receptions of something like 10 and 20 yards and you can clearly see him gesturing to the sideline that he's gassed and wants to come off the field. For some reason they decided to keep playing up-tempo and Herbert still targeted Everett (who indeed gave up on the designed play). Gotta have that awareness as a QB imo.

Then it’s as much on the coaches too. And the play call. It’s a weird one to pin on Herbert though. What you’re saying is he didn’t think about something virtually no other QB would also have thought of in a rushed high pressure situation. It’s also not like we are talking about a throw to Everett for 50 yards over the top. It’s literally a few yards.

I think the blame has to fall on Everett but I can also understand why he messed up, because he was gassed.

Did Herbert even see that though? They were moving fast to the next snap, not sure Herbert saw what Everett was motioning to the sidelines.

I don't think Herbert saw Everett signalling either, but perhaps you should have enough awareness in you're such a hurry-up offense that you've just targetted your TE twice and that he might be catching his breath for a bit.

Again, I'm just nitpicking here of course. Such things are maybe what separate the truly elite from the just very good QBs, but I could see someone like Brady taking something like that into account. I rate Herbert very highly but I thought he was quite pedestrian last night, lots of Ekeler dump-offs and sticking to the run three downs in a row. But, again, maybe that's indeed also on the playcalling of course.

It’s not that I disagree with you entirely, it’s that we just need some perspective. Herbert is in, what, year 3? I just think it’s a very unreasonable expectation perhaps that this is something he even remotely should have considered - in my opinion, of course. COULD he have, and will he now perhaps do so in future? Sure!

He certainly wasn’t at his best last night, you’re right about that. And the offence designed at the moment is off. I know Keenan Allen is out, but still.

@calodo2003 how you feeling about the game today mate?
Actually decent.

I think one of the main issues with us is Smith at LT; he suffered a hyperextended elbow & left the game early v. Cowboys. It's a pain tolerance issue now. Wells played pretty well against Parsons in relief. Godwin is out, four of our other receivers are questionable, but probably will play.

Y'all also have a bunch of players as questionable, including your top two RBs.

If we control the line & dominate in the run game like we did Sunday, that will help Brady out with play action.

Think it will be a close game though. It will be fun going against a fully healthy Jameis. Hopefully he comes out with another gem like his 'eat another win' pregame pep talk.

How you feeling?

e - no Kamara, no Julio, no Smith, Jameis has four fractures in his back.

Brady’s 0-4 streak vs the Saints in the reg season is strange. Be interesting if that persists to 0-5.

Some interesting games. Excited for W2!

FFS Julio why can't you just stay healthy these days :(

Back from holiday and sitting down with a beer in my hand ready for the best show in sports. Sundays are back.
