Think I ask every year but I’m assuming the coverage in the UK is BBC and Sky? If so what are people going for? I don’t mind Neil Reynolds and the guests are usually pretty decent but it’s normally the BBC for me.
BBC.

Nat Coombs presenting who’s pretty knowledgeable (though a bit facty/nerdy), Jason and Osi like usual giving the player perspective and Mike Carlson (very good at explaining stuff and simplifying it so I can understand it).

Works fine for me. Dont like the SKY presenter or Jeff Reinibold.

As a Rams fan (only one on here AFAIK) I'm starting to brick it a bit. It's going to be close either way I feel like but we have a tendency to make a mess of needless things quite often. McVay is awesome but his decisions in game can be questionable at times. Stafford is always good for a pick. Gay has been good most of the time but has locked shaky in these playoffs.

Anyway, will watch the game at home by myself with some drinks and wings and probably annoy my neighbours until 4am.

Rand Paul has called on truckers to blockade Los Angeles & disrupt the SB.
There was a big ‘grassroots’ (read: Facebook bullshit) campaign to replicate the Canadian trucker siege but they couldn’t get organized in time so they’re going to try again in March instead.

Fellow Rams fan here since '94

It’s basically a national holiday: gotta get the groceries in early (special orders should have been in by Tuesday), avoid the roads and stores at peak times pre/post game, whatever specialities of the house are probably already cooking, and somebody already forgot the Truly’s and Jager…gotdamnit Jeb you had one job, one job!
I’m normally like Jeb but bit more organised this year. Booked the day off weeks ago, got the beers yesterday and crisps/snacks earlier today. Easy when it’s just me on my tod watching

Our booth is reserved at the bar from 10pm so will wander over there and order my first Hazy Jane and serving of snacks around then.

30°C in LA today, that's some weather to play in.

I would love to be in the states for a super bowl. Can’t ever imagine actually going to one because I’m not a gazillionaire but I can imagine being in the host city being cool. But I get the feeling there’s more of a house party vibe for US fans than going out somewhere. Is that true US folks?

Am I the only one who doesn’t like that it’ll still be daylight when this game kicks off? By no means do I want a later start, already late in the UK, but I feel the vibe and tension is always heightened by night starts. Bit like the CL for football

That's also the feeling I get, even if your team isn't in it the anticipation for the event is just huge. Perhaps closest thing we have here in Belgium is when we are playing in a WC or EC QF or SF, the whole country is buzzing throughout the entire build-up.

Has there ever been serious talk of having the Super Bowl on a Saturday instead? I know it's probably sacrosanct to Americans, but on the other hand the NFL seems determined to expand their fanbase globally, and surely more Europeans would watch if it was the night between Saturday and Sunday, so it doesn't interfere with work.

I personally can't really justify taking time off tomorrow, or showing up half dead to watch the game unfortunately.

I was a junior in high school in 1991 when the SB was in Tampa about ten miles from where I lived. It was the first SB with intense security due to the Gulf War. Old Buc Stadium (now RJ) is relatively close to the interstate & we had traffic slowed down back into St. Petersburg. My father went to a party that night in Tampa & said it reminded him of a heavyweight fight night in Vegas.

Yeah. I feel like if your teams in it then the buzz is even more, but in general the day is just a “get your buds over for a big bash” anyway.

Vegas must be such a buzz on a day like today, too.

Yes, it is one of the biggest house party days of the year. Whomever has the largest TV and house in your social group has a patriotic obligation to allow it to be packed to over capacity with friends and their random acquaintances you’ve never seen before as long as they bring food and/or beer.

The actual SB itself is rather corporate and stodgy...doesn’t have a patch on a good college football rivalry game day atmosphere.

You mean, as long as they bring beer - with food being optional

I can imagine it must be super epic to be fair. It’s partly why as awesome as it might be to go to a bar there, what I really need to do is be one of the random acquaintances at someone’s house with a 100 inch OLED

Which reminds me - do they air it in 4K yet? One of the things that bugs me about game pass here is that it still doesn’t do 4K which is a joke at these times as other sporting events have been airing 4K for god knows how long. But not sure if that’s just a game pass thing.

I'll be watching on Game Pass. I heard there's going to be a Guy Fieri superbowl ad, so obviously that is going to be the main event.

I've got a shitload of food to make ready for kick-off, though I've no idea how I'm going to make it til 11:30. I'm rumbling already.

Pumped for the game, leaning slightly towards the Rams. I'd like to see Stafford and OBJ get a ring, but I don't mind who wins just as long as it's a close game, with a few more scores than when the Rams were last in the superbowl.

NFL is primarily a Sunday dominant gameday. But more importantly, having it on a Sunday allows for one final weekend day to hype it and prep for Sunday. Bets, injury reports, food/drink purchases, and many Americans will go to church and just do their gameday.

As much as the NFL is trying to globalize their product, it will always be U.S. first. What they love is the fact that the global audience is starting to get into the food, drink, and social aspect of the game. That's what brings in casual followers then makes them a fan, no matter what team...as long as it is the NFL and culture you're adopting.

And the commercials are extremely sacred to Americans. $6+ million USD for a 30 second commercial...Sunday, primetime across U.S. they wouldn't haven't it any other way

If it was two hours back, that’d do.

Hard to believe American TV and the NFL won’t change the Super Bowl schedule to suit us Europeans?

Yeah, it's just wishful thinking. Expecting Americans, who call themselves World Champs after only playing American teams, to adjust the scheduling to fit a more global audience is unfortunately pretty naive.

The American Football haters are also out in full force on my timeline. “Why would you want to watch one minute of sports for every 5 minutes of commercials”, “OMG it is so boring”, “it is just American rugby”, ugh.

Fine if you don’t like it, but just shut the feck up about it and let the ones who do like it enjoy it ffs.

I’ve already put my daughter straight today when she asked me why I’m staying up late and when I explained it’s to watch the Superbowl which is American Football her reply was “oh you’re staying upto watch rugby” ffs
