I usually just watch at home with some budweiser, and some food on the go throughout the game. Need to figure out what food to stock up on this time around! Usually some wings and other bits and bobs.

100% agree - busiest time of the year for me, sadly can never take the Monday off and just have to ride it out. Thankfully I’ve gotten used to it but still a painful day with a lagging painful effect all week too.

Found them, cheers. Great stuff!

How's the interest int he Pro Bowl? Only realized now that it seems every American sport has this. I know folks loves it in Basketball and Baseball, some I'm assuming it's also big for Football. Anything else it adds other than just seeing the best from each side coming together? I'm assuming its a legacy thing for players also?
And is anyone from the Superbowl teams going to feature? If so, would they be risking getting injured before the big event?
It’s never held the cache of the MLB or NBA all-star game weekends, in part because there’s no equivalent in entertainment value to the home-run derby or slam-dunk contest. It also used to be held after the SB making it more irrelevant to the others which are a refreshing mid-season change of pace. Getting voted into the Pro Bowl is part of a player’s legacy, though not as prestigious as being All-Pro.

Personally I don’t think it makes any sense to play an exhibition game just for the hell of it in such a violent sport. Honestly, the Puppy Bowl is the superior product to me.

We’ve had a corner booth booked at the Directors Box in Manchester for months, I cannot wait. Hazy Jane and Beavertown on draft, and plenty of good food options, followed by Monday off work. Can’t wait.
I like that place but I remember the 4g signal is pretty poor (and non existent downstairs) and their WiFi was never working. Haven't been to Manchester in 2 years mind so I wouldn't be surprised if they've fixed it now.

I've tried to get through the day a couple of times and it's a grind so this year, I've taken the Monday off and can hopefully sleep in the day. Better be a good game to make it worth it.

As I'm rooting for the Bengals I've just done a quick search for food Cincinnati is famous for:

Skyline Chili
Without a doubt, Skyline Chili is the most famous food that Cincinnati is known for.

Their signature dishes include cheese coneys (a hot dog covered in chili, mustard, onions, and cheese), 3-ways (spaghetti topped with Skyline chili and cheese), 4-ways (add on beans or onions), and 5-ways (add on both beans and onions).

Hm. Not a fan of the ol' chilidog so I think I'll stick to burgers and wings.

I'm now getting ready for SB night. Got my craft beers ordered and coming this week. Still unsure of what American food to get. It's a toss up between getting a burger kit from Burger & Beyond (https://burgerandbeyondshop.co.uk/product/double-bacon-butter-burger-kit-serves-4/) or ordering some buffalo & BBQ wings from a local place on UberEats. I'd normally just pluck for the wings but I imagine they are going to get inundated with orders come 10pm.

Make nachos

The only thing downstairs is the toilet

Oh shit. I got it confused with The Brotherhood. I haven't been to Director's Box since they didn't let me in to watch our Europa League final game because I was wearing plain, black joggers.

Alvin Kamara arrested in Vegas after the Pro Bowl for battery resulting in substantial bodily harm.

Wow... this classification is somewhat bizarre.

I got loads of brownie points as apparently I have taken Valentine's Day off.

For me it's just a long nap Sunday afternoon, and a non-productive Monday morning. Working from home was a godsend in that respect last year.

When I told the wife at the dinner table tonight that I’m going to be off on Monday, she automatically assumed it’s because of Valentine’s Day, as she’s taken it off as well . Started coming up with all these plans/suggestions on what we could do together now that we are both off that same day only for me to then tell her that I’ve only taken the Monday off to specifically stay up for Super Bowl and to catch up on my sleep after it’s finished. I wouldn’t have taken it off otherwise. Her facial expression and reaction was absolutely priceless

Really wish we could see the video tape of the Kamara incident. He goes 5 years in NO without any incidents whatsoever and then this comes up in Vegas.

Report and statements are not a good read but I have a hard time to believe Kamara would just beat some random guy up for fun alongside his girlfriend. You never know of course. Not that it in any way justifies repercussions or kicking a man when he’s down, but wouldn’t be the first case either of someone acting the big man against an NFL/NBA/MMA or whatever star after a night out.

Reserving judgment of course but I saw something saying the video supports the victims claims.

I think the issue for Kamara is that because of his status, irrespective of the scenario and circumstance, this kind of ordeal will always negatively impact his character. It’s tough because I think regardless of whether he was antagonised or not the instigator, he will still take the headlines for negative reasons. If that is the case, I do have some sympathy. But apart from a very very rare set of circumstances, people can always walk away instead of taking this course of action. And he has to recognise he has to do that, because of who he is. It’s an unfair higher standard but one everyone knows is the case when you’re famous. So in that sense, he’s still made a mistake.

I can remember debates about this every year for as long as I can remember. It’s unsurprising given the pace and force of collisions on special teams. The issue though is that you can’t really fix it without material changes to those phases of the game. And unsurprisingly there’s a variety of reasons why there is resistance to that. And that includes the players themselves who might not have a role on the roster if the game is fundamentally changed in these phases. I would be interested to see what proposals they can come up with maintains those phases but can have a big impact on this.
