I keep coming back into this thread to say Welp, Ravens' season over. I'm almost at the point now where I say shut Lamar down with this injury, play it out and started again in the off-season. Absolutely horrendous season.

We have a winner

I know how to pander to my audience.

To be clear, I don't think his arm strength has necessarily improved over the years, and he still looks like a drunk giraffe when he stumbles down the field for a first down every other game. He is obsessive about all aspects of his training, so I do not think it is that outrageous that he can still throw a ball down the field. Also, through a combination of luck and cleverness he has managed to avoid big hits and injuries for most of his career, so that helps.

Yeah, really promising season ravaged by injuries, sucks to see that happen to such a talented team.

Going down the steroids route is always a risky path because I think it can be argued that pretty much everyone is doing it. I can see that the haters are desperate now though so will cling to anything

If I could go back to age 14-16 and someone offered me HGH/PEDs with the guarantee I would make it as a top league professional athlete, I would sign-up without hesitation.

Man, can't really remember a playoff race closer than the one we're seeing now. 5 teams are tied at 6-7 for that #7 seed in the NFC and 5 teams in the AFC are tied at 7-6 for the #6 and #7 seed.

Feels like the NFC is more top heavy with the Bucs, Cards, Packers, Rams, Cowboys while the AFC is more evenly spread out (lots of quality challengers like the Bengals, Browns, Bills, Colts, Chargers, ...). Still feel like the Chiefs are the team to beat there, especially given how their defense has been playing over the last couple of weeks. A Chiefs vs Pats showdown would be intriguing and might be our best bet for a close game in the AFC - Ravens are too injury-ravaged, Titans could still be without Henry in the playoffs, ... Chargers vs Chiefs would also be great (and is this Thursday's TNF ).

Can I ask those blinded by Brady's greatness - how do you presume his arm strength has improved after this many years? His speed and running gait too.
His hair as well! Something fishy is going on.

Steroids and horse placenta.

In the space of literally 12 minutes, you went from @altodevil ‘s Christmas card list, to his hit list.

It’s been a really bizarre season for the Ravens.

I’ve just stumbled across something which says ESPN now has rights to present the Super Bowl (I believe they join the annual rotation)
Why do they do these things to us

My sleep patterns fecked so I'm going to watch the game tonight. I haven't really seen much of the Cardinals this year and I want to see if they actually look good or if it's just they've been beating shit all year.

Louis Riddick and the others keep talking about taking the field goal now and going for touchdown later.

I feel like it's better to go for touchdown now cuz they are close enough to get it. Easier to go for field goal afterwards.

Wow. A potentially huge feck up from the Rams.

Ughh the Cards left 14-17 points out there today, with the 2 failed 4th downs and the 2 INTs in the redzone. Very frustrating as a Cards fan tonight. This team makes way too many mistakes at home.

Yeah, was an irritating watch, some pretty bad decisions from Murray. Loving what they're getting out of Conner, though.

Mayfield TDs to WRs since Beckham was cut: 2
OBJ: TDs in three straight games

On a serious note, impressive victory from the Rams while missing some key pieces. It’s anyone’s guess who is actually the best team in the NFL right now, playoffs are going to be wild!

It really is shaping up nicely. There is a three-way tie in both the AFC and NFC for the 1st seed at the moment, which is crazy. The Bucs have a fairly easy schedule with three quite winnable division matchups, but all their losses have come in the NFC, so in case of a Win/Loss tie, they are not well positioned for the first tie-breaker. In the AFC the Patriots look like a good bet - a home game against Buffalo being their toughest remaining game. The Chiefs have both the Chargers and the Bengals away, so may slip up.

Anything can happen - but who wouldn't love to see a Brady/Belichick matchup in the Superb Owl?

I would want to just for the narrative and the build up, but honestly I'd have a hard time cheering on either one of those teams  BB getting one over Brady with a rookie QB would be quite the story, but likewise Brady winning two on the trot with his new team and get to 8 would be... just mental, no other words to describe it.

Ideally for me the NFCC game would be Niners vs Rams, I like a lot of players on both teams. And just give me the Chargers vs Bengals or something refreshing in the AFC, hopefully Burrow and Herbert can establish a nice rivalry having come into the league at the same time.

Commentator on MNF last night said that currently 26 of the 32 teams are in or within one game of the playoffs, that's just mental. The NFL really succeeds to create a level playing field like almost no other league or organization in the world.

I feel certain the Buccaneers won't win it again. The Super Bowl hasn't been won twice in a row for 15 years, and the last three teams to try for a repeat have failed (Chiefs, Patriots, Seahawks). Also, their defense seems to have taken a big step backwards compared to last year. I would go for the Patriots or Packers with the Rams having an pretty good chance as well.

I think as much as I like the Cards, their lack of experience is going to do then this year. When it comes to crunch time I can’t see them beating the Packs or Bucs in particular.

Kingsbury is also a bit of an unknown quantity. He somehow wormed his way from getting fired as a losing college head coach with no pro experience, to suddenly getting hired for a pro job. He has done quite well converting the post-Arians Cardinals into a good team, but I suspect he will run into some problems as they get into the playoffs.

17 years and the QB was some guy named Tom Brady. Interestingly, he was involved in these other repeat opportunities you mentioned - winning against the Chiefs and Seahawks and losing a repeat bid to Philly (but returned to win it the following season).

I can see another Brady vs Rodgers NFC championship game showdown. If Tampa gets through the NFC again they will likely repeat. Anything can happen but I have learned my lesson in betting against Brady.

Arizona's loss drops them to third in the playoff standings with Green Bay and Tampa Bay moving up to first and second respectively. Green Bay owns the head-to-head tiebreaker over Arizona and currently lead Tampa on conference record. Both Bays have a fairly easy remaining schedule and will likely win out, especially as winning out is likely necessary to secure the top seed.

Arizona has a tough stretch ahead - discounting the Lions, they host the Colts, visit Dallas, and host Seattle on the last weekend. If the Rams win out it could get interesting based on how Arizona fare over the final weeks as a division loss to Seattle would put them at 4-2 division play along with Rams, and having split with the Rams in head-to-head. A loss to Dallas along with the aforementioned Seattle loss could drop them below the Rams in conference record tie-breaker if the latter win out.

Superb Owl sounds like a great breakfast restaurant.

Really tempted to put some money on TB12 mvp. Think the only competition is Rodgers and I think that they probably don’t give it to him because of the vaccine thing

I think that it would be a relatively safe bet. Tamba Bay throw the ball an awful lot (Brady has 50 attempts more than the no. 2 on the list), they have an easy schedule and will most likely try to win them all to get 1st seed. Murray's chances took a big hit yesterday throwing two picks in a MNF loss to a rival, so Rodgers is the only other real option. He actually has a better QBR at the moment, driven by a better TD/INT ratio, but as you say he has missed three games, so his totals are not likely to reach Brady's.

Combined with Rodgers winning it last season and Brady being the oldest MVP in every major US sport if he wins it, looks like a nice one indeed.

EDIT: he's at 1.60 which makes it kinda pointless to me though.

The time for attractive odds on TB12 winning MVP are long gone (if it ever existed).
Yeah, "if they ever existed" is a good one. Mad really, it's a constant storyline in the NFL and even then I feel it isn't talked about enough what this guy is doing. I remember when I started following the NFL that there were already people saying "is this the final year", "is time finally catching up with him", ... He was 37 back then so it seemed totally reasonable to say so as wel ffs
