Embarrassing performance by the 49ers considering the Cards were without Kyler, DHop, AJ Green, JJ Watt (been out for a couple of games now), and Chase Edmonds who got injured early in the game. Not to mention the increased health of the 49ers who notably got Kittle back today. It can't be overstated how bad a day this was for Shanahan and his team, he has to be in the hot seat now.

Yeah season is done. Needs to spend the rest of the year giving Lance time to learn and make mistakes. Way too sloppy and that secondary needs a lot of work.

Kind of an underwhelming game. Rams D played well apart from two untimely roughing the passer penalties in the 4th Q which looked soft without seeing a replay. Stafford was just off al night, so never really a close game.

Great week for the Bucs even though they were on a bye. Losses for the Packers, Cowboys, Rams and Saints was almost the ideal outcome for them - just needed a Cardinals loss for the full house.

Yeah that was a really sorry performance. The defence is just terrible. All over the place and you can't trust Jimmy G and the offence to take care of the ball. Cards were decent today. Nothing special, of course with all those key players missing, but they still racked up 31 points and 428 yards.

With damn near everybody else worth a feck out, the strategy was always going to be 'give it to Conner and hope for the best', and that's more or less all they did and the 49ers couldn't stop it.

Stafford was awful in that game, as he has been in a few so far. Rams always lose against the 49ers as well and tough schedule coming up. Having serious doubts about this team.

There's aftermath video footage of Ruggs on the street with his girlfriend while the other vehicle is on fire. It's grim. More so hearing the girlfriend so concerned with Ruggs and seemingly not giving a shit of the other occupant burning up.

Is it common in the US for such footage to be made public, with a trial to come?

No clue but I think it's more a product of everyone possesses the technology in their cell phone and rush to upload to social media.

Btw, if anyone is curious just find 'NFL Memes' FB page and/or Google search DailySnark. A few different vids and image captions depending on which link clicked. I won't go into the bystanders reports of the scene, way depressing. The woman was pinned in the vehicle apparently.

Beckham apparently interested in the Seahawks and Saints. Should clear waivers as well, thought his salary would be a lot lower than $8m after the restructuring of his deal.

Russ with rainbow throws to OBJ, I'm here for that all friggin day.

And we’ll get most or all our starting corners back for Sunday along with AB & Gronk.

Apparently it could have been doubly worse. The deceased dropped off her best friend & her dog after a trip to the park just minutes before the crash.

Think the salary makes sense as he wanted to avoid someone like the Lions picking him up. I'd put in a waiver claim if I was Pete Carroll, we've got cap room to spare and snagging OBJ to be our WR3 is way too good to miss out on cause one other team put in a claim. Would be nice to only have to pay him the minimum but I don't wanna take that risk.

OBJ at the Hawks would be great. Lockett, Metcalf and him would be great run blocking.

I cannot begin to imagine how the friend feels. The depression that is going to inflict her life from here on out. She'll likely put blame on herself even though it has nothing to do with her, the trip, the timing, etc. Just human nature to feel so. I'd be devastated and think what if we had taken this turn or left a minute earlier/later.

For sure. The other day I clipped my wing mirror on a driver coming the other way on a narrow road. Even though it’s conparatively totally insignificant, couldn’t help my mind from wonder “oh what if I had gone another route” or “what if I’d just been a couple MPh slower and moved over a few CM some more”. Or “what if I hadn’t rushed through a green light”. It’s just the natural trail of thought of the human mind. And obviously this Ruggs thing is infinite multiples more significant.

WTF, in the first 1/4 at 0-0, that just seems stupid
It was at 2-yard line. It would be a huge mistake not to go for it. You are likely to score more points and if you miss, you will have much better field position.

That wasn’t an easy watch.

The bystander telling the cop there's a person inside the car and the cop just devastated in his mind knowing he cannot do anything.
I was pissed at first that he appeared not to do anything or even care, but then part of the car blew up & I realized that there was nothing humanly possible for him to do. He was in shock.

Geebus, the guy is a disaster in the waiting.

As for the draft class above, NFL Memes had this today. Finally, someone made the Cowboys 2009 draft class slightly less shit.

A little off topic but what did you all make of the Kaepernick programme on Netflix (if you’ve watched it)?

I liked it, though I wanted to like it more. The idea is really cool, and it was well put together, but I did find the dialogue unnaturally schmaltzy, it made me cringe a couple of times. That's not how teenagers talk to each other. Given the themes of the show, I think it could have been a bit grittier.

But Jaden Michael and Nick Offerman's performances were especially good.

Agreed on the performances. Especially Jaden’s.

Overall it was a fascinating watch I thought. And ultimately did well I think in sharing the key messages I think Colin wanted to share. And I think it was particularly interesting because it blended real stats and impact with personal life experiences he had which really goes to explaining who he is and how he has become who he is.

I think some of the ways bits were portrayed, such as the “white man stamp” segment, or likening the combine to the slave trade, were perhaps presented in a very exaggerated way. That’s not to say there isn’t truth in the message, but I thought presenting it in such away almost makes it easier for casual viewers to detach it from reality.

That taunting penalty was RIDICULOUS. Who in the world actually still supports this rule? Players don't, and fans certainly don't either. At first I thought he got flagged for the karate kid but it was just for a "staredown", fecking hell.

Entertaining game although watching the Steelers offense is a chore most of the times. It basically all runs through Najee, even on 2nd & very longs, and their throwing game is always just past the sticks to Diontae. No deep threat whatsoever anymore it seems.

Fields looked good in the second half, put together an excellent last drive to take the lead. Some improvement already showing, and that in a hostile environment. Shot themselves in the foot with too many penalties though and continuously gave the Steelers excellent starting field positions in the first half.

Also I'm not totally on board with the fumble call on the punt return. Yeah the ball came at first but when his arm/elbow touched the ground, imo he had regained possession as he was holding the ball between his thigh(?) and his arm. Questionable, but maybe not enough to overturn either.

This was so bizarre. Does this ref have some kind of beef with the Bears?
