I think if the rest of the team performs as well as they did today, he doesn't need to be the one who drags them to the championship. He just needs to function and manage the game.

Agreed that this is their general game plan but at some point you expect them to be down big or losing with under a minute to go... in this scenario he can't just manage the game & will have to take more risks & be more assertive. I'm not sure if he's capable of that.

Maybe not. And yeah there's an element of luck. Is that game in the reg season or in the playoffs? Can sometimes boil down to something as simple as that.

0% chance Broncos are winning the division
I wouldn't go that far.

Don't forget just how strong that D is, and we've made some good moves on the O-line which will give Siemian better protection. Obviously QB is our weak link but he's got two fantastic receivers to work with and our run game looks set to be much stronger this year which will help him mix things up.

Siemian doesn't need to turn into the second coming of Manning for the Offense to produce enough to win games, especially if we can continue to prevent other teams scoring many points.

I think Alex Smith is very underrated, in a league with so many terrible quarterbacks he is a very reliable guy to have. Yes he has his limitations but for a team like the chiefs he does what is required from the qb

I'm thinking post-season. Regular season I think they've got enough to get through. It's in the knockout scenario where I don't have the belief that he can step up.

But, as you say, they might not need him to be anything more than solid/dependable (which he already is)

No chance Broncos win the division, think the Chargers will surprise a lot of people this season

Our defence does worry me a shit load. Last year it outperformed its talent. And eventually, neglecting real talent on defence will catch up to you.

I'm sure we will fix it and improve but I suspect it'll be our Achilles heel at some point this season.

I reckon Bill will try to get Ninko to come back. We could use his quality & leadership, especially since Hightower is injured.

Anything on time out for Hightower yet? And Amendola for that matter?

Not seen anything yet. Hopefully it is nothing serious for either of them, especially Hightower as we cannot afford to lose him. TBH I'm not surprised Amendola got hurt.

Even though we lost, it's so great to be able to discuss football again.

And whilst all of you non-Pats fans were delighted at us losing, I do enjoy this thread & the discussions we get into. A lot less fanboy nonsense here than on other forums or on the wider-Caf.

Sunday's are going to be fantastic. Super Sunday games followed immediately by uninterrupted RedZone in HD

Do agree. It's part and parcel of sport to be mocked when your team loses. No doubt we will have some fun at some point too =P.

You do get the odd poster who clearly has an agenda but defo far less than on most forums.

Absolutely. I've warned the gf gf I will be unavailable from 6pm Sunday until February.

0% was a bit harsh but i think this is the toughest division in the NFL. Chargers will step forward this year and i suspect (hope) your Defence wont be as strong. All comes down to QB really and if your O line can improve.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Miami Dolphins game has been rescheduled for Week 11 due to Hurricane Irma. Both teams had a bye week scheduled for Week 11.

That happened a few days ago didn't it?

Yeah a couple of days ago. I pasted it out of a broader article of sporting events cancelled in FL, including in the NCAA thread.

I post on a few FL football boards on other sites there are actually people pissed that games have been cancelled/postponed due to the storm. :wenger:

Smith is terrible, he's frightened to ever throw the ball unless someone is wide open.

I'm guessing this happens when he's not busy torching the reigning SB champs for 368 yards, 4 TDs 0 picks and a 150 QB Rating on their home turf.

Yeah. Announced a couple days back. Means they will go 16 games straight without a mid season bye. Will be tough.

People are the worst.

Irma or the announcement?

The announcement.

Without both them having the same bye week, I wonder if the NFL would have just moved this weeks game to another city?

I'm guessing the short notice logistics would've been too tough to carry out on time. Also, since a vast majority of players, staff etc have homes in the area, I would think they would have wanted to be with their families an property around the time the game would happen.

I'm a big Miami Hurricanes fan and Coach Richt and the AD cancelled the game several days ago citing family over football. I'm guessing most teams in FL followed suit on the same logic.

It's also not just about the players and coaches. It's about the fans getting to and from the game. Not cancelling means that the NFL isn't concerned. Sends a conflicting message to "evacuate now it'll be devastating". Worse yet it could add to people staying when they shouldn't.

And playing a game which should be 'fun' would be plain wrong roughly 12 hours after such a hurricane has hit the area. It was 100% the right decision and football should only be an afterthought in such circumstances.

Berry done for the season with ruptured ACL.

Man why do bad things have to happen to Eric. So unlucky that guy is. Feel really bummed out hearing the news. He doesn't deserve this misfortune one bit :(
