Brady MVP leak

League messed up when they robbed Watt of MVP a few years back and gave it to ARod. Set the precedent you can have a historic of a season as there is but as long as it’s a position other than QB, you won’t be winning it. Similarly, Gurley was deserving of it this season but Brady gets it just cuz he’s a QB.

The Two Bills documentary which debuted today was nothing short of fantastic. Jets took so many Ls in it Jesus hahaha

Pats by a billion

And a little something showed up in the mail for me today just in time for the SB

The 8 SB patches are arriving next week - gonna get them all stitched below the 12 on the back of the jersey. Until then, this will have to do

Out of curiousity describe Gurley's season in terms of it being "historic a season as there is." Not saying he was not a top player or that he is not worthy of MVP consideration, just not sure his season is one that stands out as being "historic a season as there is."

Only the 3rd player in NFL history with 2000+ scrimmage yards, 10+ rushing TDs, & 5+ receiving TDs

To put into perspective, APs 2012 historic season he had 2314 total yards and 13 total TDs. Gurley had 2093 total yards and 19 total TDs

 awesome!!

Aaron Donald should be MVP. No question about that for me. A defensive player can’t be more dominant than him.

He barely ranks in the top 50 of total yards in a season (46th). His TD total for the season is 19 again not even top 20 (tied for 29th).

You also are conviently leaving out the reason Adrian Peterson's season was notable. It was the 2094 Yds rushing. Far exceeding Gurley's rushing total.

Sorry it is not really a "historic" season for Gurley. An outstanding season , suitable for MVP consideration, but not really "historic." Calling it so is reaching.

Wasnt that also the season right after he came back from injury or was it before his injury?

I hate lines like "He's the first since 1921 to have 1,322+ rushing yards, 588+ receiving yards, 11+ rushing TDs and 3+ receiving TDs whilst also returning two punts and a kickoff for TDs and his team won 12+ games in a division where no team had a losing record". I mean ffs.

Gurley had a great season, but nothing exceptional or historically great. The reason Peterson's 2012 stands out is the 2,000+ rushing yards stat, obviously.

Yeah, not overly sold of Gurley as MVP myself.....like seriously, Brees has never won one and you can throw all of sorts of "historic" and not random stuff for his stats.

Not many will get it on their first "historic" year as Manning, Brady, Breed and Rodgers have set the bar on being historic time and time again.

The wife of former Saints and Patriots Safety Rob Kelly, wrote a quite thrilling piece about here life with her husbands apparent brain damage and how it changed him. Don't know if I've ever read something about CTE from the perspective of someone close to the affected before. Offers a new insight into the full scale of the deterioration of the mind.

Emmitt Smith had 2148 and 25 in 1995. He didn't have a single receiving TD which shows how any nerd can create an arbitrary statline (i.e. 10+ and 5+).

Tom Brady is the MVP for me and I had him down even when Wentz was being vastly overhyped.

Wentz was nowhere near overhyped what are you talking about?

His statistical lines were very similar to Goff and Keenum and yet those two were drawing nowhere near the hype level despite similar production. He was the flavor of the year.
He missed 3 games and still had 5 more touchdowns than Goff. He had 11 more touchdowns than Keenum who played one more game than him. What are you on about. He was having an MVP calibre season.

I don't recall saying he wasn't worthy of MVP debate. I said he was overhyped, much like Griffin in 2012. Alex Smith deserved as much MVP talk as just about any QB but the Chiefs tanked in the second half and not exactly because of Smith.

Nice stat cherry pick. Here's more stats to evaluate QBs (bold led league).

Comp % - Keenum 67.6, Goff 62.1, Wentz 60.2
Yard per attempt - Goff 8.0, Wentz 7.5, Keenum 7.4
Any/A - Goff 8.5, Wentz 8.3, Keenum 7.6
Passing YPG - Goff 253.6, Wentz 253.5, Keenum 236.5
Rating - Wentz 101.9, Goff 100.5, Keenum 98.3 (not a fan of rating, QBR factors in rushing)
QBR - Wentz 74.4, Keenum 71.3, Goff 48.4 (Goff severely penalized for lack of passing TDs and rushing)
Int % - Goff/Keenum 1.5, Wentz 1.6
TD % - Wentz 7.5, Goff 5.9, Keenum 4.6
4QC/GWD - Goff 2/4, Keenum/Wentz 1/1 each (honestly, this is not always a fair stat as some teams hold the lead late)

Brady's numbers to above - 66.3, 7.9, 8.4, 286.1, 102.8, 70.2, 1.4, 5.5, 3/3
Smith's numbers to above - 67.5, 8.0, 8.6, 269.5, 104.7, 63.4, 1.0, 5.1, 1/3

Wentz had a big advantage in rushing yards as he's far more mobile than Goff and Keenum.

I don't know what point your making here. His stats look either the best or damn close to the best. So, if we are going from stats, MVP calibre and not overhyped.

Perhaps overhyped is the incorrect adjective here. But it's fairly obvious there were a handful of QBs equally worthy of MVP votes though it seemed the media was propping up Wentz when others were just as worthy. He became the chosen one so to speak while Brady was being seen as a second/third choice or an afterthought, and the others were cast out of mind.

Antonio Brown is probably the true most valuable player in respect to what he brings to the game (not saying as in MVP votes).

Totally agree with everything you said there. There wasn't an obvious pick between the Quarterbacks.

It was actually worse than that, most were recognizing that Brady was the best candidate but they created a weird narrative, Brady was compared with his old self and he was also seen as too deja-vu. That's why they chose Wentz since Brown the wide receiver can't be the MVP.

Anyone living in the NE and hates the Pats at the same time? God I cannot stand one of them, well maybe Edelman and Gronk, from the name to the uniform to fecking Brady. Please Eagles let me have this at work comes Monday...

I live in Bills country and hate them. The 4 straight Super Bowls years were both horrible and great.

At least 4 seven figure bets have been placed at various sports books in Vegas ...all on the Eagles. At least one of them by "bettor x" the guy who made a killing on the World Series.
Not surprised
I like the Eagles in this game, but I quite simply cannot go against Tom Brady (and Belichick)

Definitely don't like the Patriots -4.5

Wentz was the only person this year who would have given brady good competition for the award , he was having a stellar season and it is silly to suggest that he was overhyped . He was the QB on the best team in football and was producing great stuff every week , if anything he could have had even bigger numbers if Eagles weren't really blowing everyone out every week. Anyone who thinks that Alex Smith had a season on the same level needs his brain checked

The Eagles are in a great situation with Foles playing as well as he has. If they win tomorrow, he will become a valuable trade commodity before the draft.
