The way they vote produces a well-rounded top-10, but an awful top-100. I bet there are multiple guys with the same scores, stretching huge places from 100-40. How would they rank them if that is the case? It's a load of crap, and far too based on the last season.

Err, it is based on last season... Of course you can probably switch #70 and #40 and no one would bat an eyelid, but how are you even going to compare a DE with a WR for example? Or a QB with a CB? It's impossible.

Yes that much is clear, but I do remember Peyton ranking despite missing a full season and other instances of the same thing. When the criteria focus on one season I think a majority of the players get a bit carried away, which skews the results.

I think it should be made more generic, not "Who was your top 25 players of last season?" and more "Who are the top 25 players in the NFL". It would give a much better picture year on year as to who the players respect, while still allowing one season wonders to perhaps make the list, but lower down.

I agree with your positions argument, and I think if we were to be fair the first 15/20 slots should all be quarterbacks. That's who would be picked first if the league was redrafted anyway (perhaps another good list for them to do). Positional lists made by those in each position would probably be better also.

The thing about rankings like these is to remember to take them with a huge grain of salt because there is no real correct answer to how to rank the top 100. They are designed to create discussion, clicks on a website, but at the end of the day there will probably not be one person who agrees with the entire list.

All Or Nothing: The LA Rams is on Amazon Prime Video now.
Meh to that. I'd prefer a competitive team like the Cards.

I have set the days until app up today. 71 days.

It's pretty good actually. Them having a shit year means there's less games to squeeze in so it's not as diluted.

There's the London trip too, which is an interesting aspect. It's better than their shitty Hard Knocks appearance.

Plus Fisher gets fired

Ok ok I'm very desperate for NFL so kinda sold.

Ha you cold SOB, I enjoyed laughing at him as much as anyone but it must be a bit sad?

Yea it's just pretty funny after his "8 and 8 bullshit" quote from Hard Knocks. I've not got to the actual sacking yet but they give a glimpse of it in the intro to the first episode.

Season can't start soon enough. Hope they keep RedZone on SSMix. Quadbox was gorgeous in HD

@Phil yea the sacking episode was pretty brutal. To be fair to Fisher he's come across better in this than I thought he did on Hard Knocks and his response to being sacked in terms of his last meetings with the coaches and the team he handled it very well.

The players also clearly loved him.

Yeah, i love watching the red zone when the Niners aren't playing, they have the NFL Network on the streaming site that I use so either way i am covered.

It was brutal! Proper feels in that episode.

I enjoyed it just as much as the Cardinals season too. Seeing a losing team give you a different perspective to the NFL as a whole. I'll be watching the condensed games for the Rams from now on for sure. Glad they got rid of the Defensive Co-ordinator too. His constant effing and jeffing to try get his unit motivated was pathetic.

Likewise I thought All or Nothing was really good. Much better than the naff Hard Knocks this year. The episode re: the firing was intense but really interesting.

Just had an email from Netflix that Last Chance U: Season 2 will be available from 21 July.

I know a few guys here enjoyed the show so thought I'd share.

Will be interesting to see how things go there with different players and without that Brittney there to push them.

It will also be interesting to see how much fall out there still is from how things ended last season.

Brittney left in February right? so it is likely she was there while they filmed season 2, assuming they filmed it during the last football season.

Will definitely be interesting to see how it picks up after the fight and being kicked out yea.

Ah really? Hopefully that's right, she was one of the best things about the show, she was brilliant.

She certainly left me with the impression of the only one there who care a little bit about the players beyond getting them onto the football field. Though her job really was just that, keeping the eligible to play and then eligible to move on to a bigger school. But she at least seemed to care a little.

The coaches, as one would expect, cared only about winning and doing so in a way that would ensure they made the playoffs.

It was a great watch, but at times left me feeling anger at the people in charge.

Edelman: "You know, I never thought I'd say this, but Peyton Manning's kinda killing it."

*pause*

Edelman: "We are indoors, though."
Haa. I like this, I'm sure it's super rehearsed though.

@Rado_N I believe the first guy Kevin Durrant lost to the Golden State Warriors for some team (OKC?) in the NBA finals and then joined them the next year to win a championship. Don't know about Russell Westbrook, anyone wanna confirm on both points?

Agree with all that.

Yeah, Durant and Westbrook were playing for OKC and they are supposed to be great mates but Westbrook is salty because Durant left him.

@JustAFan not sure what just reminded me of it but I also really didn't like the HC's "bunch of thugs" reaction to the incident that ended their season.

I know he retracted it and apologised afterwards but he didn't handle that situation at all well and was more bothered about the championship than the fact that his players were quite literally having their heads kicked in.

Thug was also a particularly poor choice of word.

It is one of those words that maybe 25 years ago or more, would not have drawn much attention because it was a generic term. But it has come to be used by many to be very racially specific.

They went into the game knowing the other team would try to bait them into fights by taking cheap shots. They way he was trying to run up the score was only going to make things worse. Then once control was lost by the players on both sides, the coaching staff, the refs, as you say he was totally unaware that one of his players was getting stomped on by many members of the other team. Granted it was a chaotic situation and he was trying to get some of his players under control, but he lost a lot of respect in that moment.

Ideally those two teams would not play again for several years unless it was in the play-offs. It seems there have been past issues and a bit of separation would go a long way towards cooling things down.

By rights the Head Coaches at both schools should have been fired after that game.

Running up the score seems to be hugely objectionable in the US, but if the rankings are impacted by it you can totally understand why he would do it to chase the number 1 slot to be fair.

But yes, I'd definitely agree both coaches should have been fired/banned after that. The coaches on the other team were all getting involved in the fight and throwing helmets and bins etc ffs it was horrendous.
