Brady's deflategate suspension has just been reinstated.

On appeal they are saying that The Commish does indeed have the right under the collective bargaining agreement to suspend him. Now of course this does nothing to prove one way or the other what Brady did or did not do,

"Our role is not to determine for ourselves whether Brady participated in a scheme to deflate footballs or whether the suspension imposed by the Commissioner should have been for three games or five games or none at all. Nor is it our role to second-guess the arbitrator's procedural rulings," Judge Barrington D. Parker wrote in the majority opinion. "Our obligation is limited to determining whether the arbitration proceedings and award met the minimum legal standards established by the Labor Management Relations Act."

yup, the NFLPA and Brady fought this on technicalities and tried to get it thrown out on that...rather than the actual issue at hand. Hence the appeals court judgment concentrating on what the collective bargaining agreement allows the Commish to do and whether he overstepped the mark or not.

Which leads to a reasonable conclusion that he knew he was guilty as shit.

Or that he knew that it was impossible to prove his innocence like it's impossible to prove his guilt.
Everything is based on the intimate conviction of the judge.

Look it's the Pats...we all know from Spygate what they can and will do to win or get any advantage no matter how minuscule.

They had a guy called deflator and Brady was NOT cooperative to start with...there is a reason for that. But, for a bit of balance, the league really hasn't come out of this looking great either - the handling of it has been amateurish.

Technically I think the NFL's suspension was not to do with any evidence of Brady being involved in deflate-gate, more that he destroyed his cellphone. Which some can easily argue points to the phone containing damning evidence, though the NFL had been given the phone records I believe.

It does lead to the question whether the NFL has the right to seize a players cell phone in the first place.

Can't really argue there, but there's no doubt in my mind he was up to his neck in it.

Sam Bradford want out ey?

Wonder if he'll get his way.

If Denver sign Brian Hoyer I'm gonna be very unhappy.

Jesus, and I thought missing Brady for a few games was gonna be bad....
If we can't bring in someone genuinely worthy (looking unlikely) I'd rather draft someone to try and develop them than sign shit like him and waste cap space.

Aye, I'd agree with that, I have similar thoughts on the idea of him coming back to the Pats this season, just fecking give Garoppolo a crack of the whip.

It must be the United fan side of me, always favour bringing through youth rather than 'experienced' but not good enough senior players!

Denver should make a move for Bradford. He's serviceable enough.

As for Brady and deflategate:

Nice, this means the Texans won't face Brady at Gillette in Week 3.

I don't think it'll affect them that much. They play the Cards in Week 1 (probably a L) and then have home games against the Dolphins, Texans and Bills. I can easily see them going 2-2 or even 3-1.

Oh damn didn't realise they played the Cardinals first. In that case feck the NFL, feck Goodell, fix, etc.

I bet the Dolphins GM is pretty pissed, both Ndamukong Suh and Mario Williams sat out optional workouts and training.

Gronk should run for president. Gronk, Kanye & Trump.... 2020 could be so much fun.

Verdict just means commission had the right to impose the punishment, not that the reason the punishment was given is true.

In my opinion (and it is purely speculation) what I think probably happened is Brady obviously asks for the pigskin with the lowest possible pressure and potentially the demands he makes therefore indirectly put pressure on the guys to maybe go overboard. I don't think he would have explicitly been involved in making them below the minimum. Obviously someone else may believe differently.

Also the evidence is flimsy. People mention the destruction of the phone, but per the papers it was also noted that this was in line with Brady's usually practice and on time - although counter point would be that logically, Brady should have kept it on this occasion.

Also the fact that the pressure may not have actually been below the minimum. The readings were all within the error margins for the tool used. To me, I don't therefore see how there can be a case in the first place - you don't get a speeding ticket if you're clocked at 32 in a 30 due to the margin of error in the camera.

Anyway it is what it is, and ultimately Pats fans and everyone else will probably see different sides of the coin!

On the Dolphins story, indeed Gase must be very upset. He has two enigmas there, it could either end up brilliantly well or catastrophically bad.

Also definitely think Broncos should make a trade for Bradford. Short contract so gives them a year to think about the plan, and there is upside to him yet to potentially be found. Hoyer would be a shambolic idea. And Sanchez as QB1 would also be a shambolic idea. Broncos have a solid team and good depth - they could make a play for the number one pick next year if they believe the right QB is available. Bradford will be the best stop gap for now. The problem is that by the time it reaches the Broncos pick, Goff Wentz Lynch and Cook could potentially be off the board - and maybe even Hackenburg.

Not in work tomorrow and just realised it's draft day; might watch the first few picks tonight.

It's on SS2 from midnight if anyone is planning on watching.

So who's going #1 then, Goff or Wentz?

Goff then Wentz. I honestly think the Eagles are sold on Carson and they've caught wind that LA want Goff which is why they moved up. If Wentz does end up going first I wouldn't be surprised to see the Eagles trade out.
That would be hilarious.

Would've watched the draft but doesn't seem like there are any stand-out players.

Also I don't think I'd be able to watch Goodell without the urge of smashing my TV. cnut.

Yep! Would mess everyone up!

The interesting thing about this year is that other than the top 2, it's not really that clear who will go when.
Some analysts now saying Myles Jack the linebacker/ running back could fall to my Raiders due to knee issues.

Is it 10 mins per pick? Could be 3am before the Raiders are on the clock?

Ya but will move a bit faster I then that.

I don't buy Raiders taking Jack to be honest though. You guys have strengthened well in free agency and you've got some really good young players. I personally see you taking more of a shore bet then a gamble to compound the progress you guys have made. At least I think that'd be the wisest thing to do, even if Jack has massive massive upside.
