Don't ever beat the Giants in the regular season. They always win their playoff rematches.

Well, everybody. That was an unexpectedly long and enjoyable season. Shame it had to end like this.

It was an awesome game by the 49ers too mate. At all times it was 'Thou shalt not pass' by both teams. I hope we win against the Pats.

Good job and a great season for you guys. Things will only get better for you. You need better wide receivers IMO

The play offs have be great this year.

some of the games have. In particular the two yesterday and the 49ers/Saints last week. the others I can't even recall right now.

disappointed it's not the 49ers/Ravens, not because of the Harbaughs, just for me it'd be more interesting. and I really don't like the Patriots.

Yeah, like the Cardinals a few years back...

Should a 9-7 even be making the playoffs?

Why not? They've shown they can beat both 14-2 and 13-3 at their building. Seems like they've earned it to me.

EDIT: sorry 15-1 Green Bay

I don't mind 9-7s in the playoffs but I don't agree on them hosting a playoff game based on winning a weak division while a club with a better record must play on the road as they were unfortunate to play in a division with a top seed or whatnot (i.e. Denver hosting Pittsburgh - utter joke).

However, I am totally against a club with a sub .500 record in the playoffs, like Seattle in 2010. And spare me they beat the Saints crap.

I agree with the hosting of a play off game point. They should see 1-5 and highest seed hosts.

so change something that's been nothing short of great in one of the best run leagues in the world? what if a division is competitive and the winner is 9-7 - see giants and doesn't get a home game. so atlanta with a better record but as we saw no team to compete in the long haul getting a home game , win your div get a home game. and yes the nfl is happy to have two east coast teams in it the left coast doesn't give a shit or there'd be a team in lala land.

The left coast gives plenty of shits. LA doesn't, and right now the entire state is in one of the biggest budget crises ever, so it's not exactly easy to work out the stadium deals necessary to bring a team back.

I'm fine with home field advantage in wild card rounds going either way. I believe the NBA gives home court to the team with the better record. Different league, obviously, and seven games, but it's worth considering.

You don't remember the Broncos vs Steelers?

I didn't see that game. I tend to watch NFL as the season comes to a close when it's all on the line but even then don't catch all the playoffs. sounds like it was a good game.

Gronk hasn't been able to practice yet, according to his dad he has an ankle sprain. Really hope he is close to 100% for the SB otherwise I don't fancy the Pars chances at all.

Anyone know who the host broadcaster is for the Superbowl? As long as it's not Fox I'm happy, can't stand their coverage.

Still no practice for the Gronk. Really not looking good for him and without him fully fit there will be even more pressure on Welker and Hernandez to get open.

Also I hope Belichick has a plan that doesn't involve Edelman to stop Cruz.

That is not surprising. He has been nothing short of brilliant this season.

I can't wait for the game to start. Tom Brady is my favorite quarterback but I like the Giants a little more than I like New England because NY is my favorite city.

Heart says the Pats will win but the head thinks Giants will be too strong. A lot will depend on how fit Gronk is and if we can stop NYs receivers. I hope I'm wrong but I think it'll be a 27-24 Giants win.

I also do not expect much from the half-time show but I do not think it will be as bad as the debacle from last year.

to pile on ha rooney's post.

Hope the jints win as a fan but i want a good game won on merit not a feck up by the other team. my wife is a big pats fan and i have to be semi respectful in my enthusiasm as it could be costly if i go OTT. the couch is kinda comfy.

Will not watch half time show - they've been shit for years. the who were a fecking disgrace. sounded like townsend's guitar was falling down stairs!

close game - if the jints can pressure brady if not he'll feck them up. not one for usually having two shit games in a row.

Hello you lot, I only started getting into this NFL stuff recently and have found it pretty enjoyable. Much of it still goes over my head sometimes but I quite like it. Last year was the first superbowl I ever watched (watched it on catch up not live) and it was cracking, loved it. Watching it live this year for the first time and looking forward to it, the yanks sure do know how to put on a good show!

Welcome, iSparks. Hope you enjoy it.

I was dead set on the Giants winning, but after what happened to Tiquan Underwood, no matter how much sense it makes from a roster perspective, I feel like I absolutely cannot cheer for the Pats on this one.

Giants 37 - Pats 17

Cheers jveezy! The NFL has had quite a bit of promotion here in the UK in recent years with games in wembley and what not. The only issue is time zone differences, the superbowl here runs from 11pm to 4am so unless you have an interest not many people will watch it but the viewing figures were high for it in the UK last year and more people were talking about it too. I dont have a team as such yet but I would like to see the Patriots win this mainly as I have followed their progress more so than the Giants.

You have to laugh really. He's sat at home with this shaved in the back of his head

There's also some regional hatred here. This is Boston against New York. Much bigger deal in baseball, but still. In reality I think the Patriots have no business winning this game. They have no names at the skill positions (other than Brady of course). On the other hand, I think the Giants are a bit over rated.

Which surprises me, because last year's game wasn't that great and neither was the one the year before. Steelers vs Cardinals was by far the best game from beginning to end and that was uncharacteristically exciting for a Super Bowl. I think once people get past the steep learning curve, it's fun to watch, but it's hard to do when the marquee game of the year is often a bit of a dud.

I'm sure he's still got a spot on the sideline. That'd be extra callous to just send him home. If they win he'll get a ring anyways. I suppose he just won't get paid for being on the roster is the only difference, and if he was expendable enough at this point, he probably wasn't going to play in the game anyways.

Harsh on Underwood. Does he still get a ring if we win?

Edit:answered above!

See when it comes to this Im not really honed in on where the big rivalries are in NFL, so in terms of regional hatred would this be like a Man UTD v Liverpool type of intense hatred?

Tbh that could be a factor, most in the UK who have watched over the past year or so may not have seen what a really good game is because we we have not seen much of NFL at all, I loved last year for example but I have never seen a superbowl before that so I had no clue how it compared to previous ones
