Nfl 2010-2011

I'm not buying that the team is crap yet. But the performances have been nothing short of crap. The gap between talent level and performance level on this team is mind-boggling to me, and I have no idea who to blame at this point.

Today....everyone. They were out played and out coached. They didn't look like they even prepared. I'm not really expecting high offensive numbers but the defense looked asleep today.

Steelers start the season 3-0. At worst they'll be 3-1 when Big Ben returns, so should he be the starting QB or should the Steelers stick with Batch?

As much as I hate Manning, he's been brilliant against the Broncos. Orton's played well, but Denver will lose after failing to get a TD on 4 red-zone visits.

Also, a little bit of trivia: Rookie Hernandez had a 13-yard run in the first quarter, the longest by a tight end in Patriots history.

"Brett Favre sure makes things interesting, it's Week 3 and we still don't know if he's coming back to play this season."

The Broncs really shot themselves in the foot today, they have been in all three games, well not v Seattle who they blew out but I think they look promising, I still cant believe we fecking traded Marshall.

Does anyone care about the Broncos ? Seriously ? The only reason they even get mentioned is because they don't happen to be the weakest team in the weakest division in NFL.

Haha, you lot are pathetic aren't you. I was actually going to right a post about this earlier but I thought what the feck I don't really care, but thanks for the segway son. (5 minutes later I dont care to really say anything at the moment as I am enjoyign a drink and cig, so I ll let Shannon Sharpe tell it like it is)

There was the NFL before 2000

Not the first, I suspect...

The Steelers defense has been impressive so far and I would be surprised if Roethlisberger does not go straight into the team or maybe after one game holding a clipboard, at the most. I’m looking forward to the potential blood bath against the Ravens and also how the defense performs against Brees, Palmer and Brady in a three game stretch from the end of October. The first two being away from home too.

I watched the game and you guys had your opportunities and were arguably the better team in the first half. The final score was a little misleading and there were some positives. Orton continues to surprise and seems really suited to the offense which obviously has similar principles to the one I have watched in New England. He went through his reads in a similar fashion last year against the Pats and was accurate underneath. Gaffney is still a crafty route runner and that rookie wide receiver is physical and looks like a keeper, the commentators were comparing him to a young Marshall.

Charlie Batch going godmode for one week doesn't = him being a starter NFL quarterback. Big Ben IS elite, the big part of them being 3-0, well the first two games anyway, was their terrific D, especially the return of Troy, who's a goddamn beast.

I called them going 2-2 from the first 4 without Big Ben, which would of been terrific, 3-0 with a potential 4-0 has pretty much guaranteed them playoffs barring an epic meltdown, at this point, probably 4th or 5th in the power rankings behind Packers, Colts, Saints, a very good pre-season dark horse pick.

Also, if the Bears go 3-0 tonight, I'll be over the moon, I'm not expecting it, honestly expected like 3-13 this season, but for my 2 teams to be 6-0 when everyone wrote both off would be awesome.

That is a very fair point, we should make the Raiders move to London full time at that rate

FAO everyone planning on going to Wembley, have fun watching the Niners and Broncos. Terrific representation of the quality of the NFL.

Nah, football is football at the end of the day jveezy. The opportunity to see players like Bailey, Willis and Clady is something people are still going to look forward to. Plus its more than a game, its an event. For example, I am going to try and get the opportunity to meet a certain San Francisco receiver at a meet and greet thing at an NFL rally in London. There's nothing concrete yet though, likely a pipe dream.

Which receiver? If it's Crabtree he'll probably pretend he's injured to get out of it.

Jokes aside, it's tough to get the good teams to go, because they don't want to give up a home game.

When this thing was first announced I did not expect to get the chance to see the Saints, Chargers, Dolphins, Patriots or Giants to be fair. Plus, the two teams coming up are among the more well followed ones in the UK due to television coverage etc in their respective glory years.

I'm pretty sure the 49ers, and the NFL in general, keep Jerry Rice in a cupboard and just wheel him out whenever they think there's going to be a camera in the vicinity.

17 penalties against the Packers...that right there is the game.

Can't really blame Rodgers...300+ yards, sure he threw a pick, but they've had no running game at all tonight.

BEAR DOWN, CHICAGO BEARS!
MAKE EVERY PLAY CLEAR THE WAY TO VICTORY!
BEAR DOWN, CHICAGO BEARS!
PUT UP A FIGHT WITH A MIGHT SO FEARLESSLY!

WE'LL NEVER FORGET THE WAY YOU THRILLED THE NAAAAATION
WITH YOUR T FORMAAAAAATION (this song was written a while ago)

BEAR DOWN, CHICAGO BEARS!
AND LET THEM KNOW WHY YOU'RE WEARING THE CROWN

YOU'RE THE PRIDE AND JOY OF ILLINOIS
CHICAGO BEARS, BEAR DOWN!

unlucky, undisciplined, mistake filled game tonight. no biggie. dominated them. the Pack will benefit from this. everyone was at fault...even Rodgers. learn from it and move on. Packers will go on a winning streak and the bears will fall back to earth soon enough. not worried about it.

Well tight ends rarely run the ball, usually catch it, so not that surprising to me.

Seriously why even give it to them, they fecking almost never run it, might as well give it to the left tackle, he isnt much slower and surely has more momentum once he gets going. The Fridge ran one in the 80s SuperBowl v New England although he played on the dline, fecking should have just given to Payton

Assuming they're not hybrid TE/FBs. I guess the last famous ones of those was Frank Wychek but I don't remember him ever running the ball. He was simply a lead blocker.

I don't really see the point either. I could see using a D-lineman as a lead blocker but not as a ball carrier.

Tight Ends of the past have almost nothing in common with the TE of today. A couple of really elite guys actually played Basketball in high school and college in the power forward position.

They are strong, quick and agile, of course they lack the out and out speed of your typical WR, but they aren't the big bruising blockers of the past.

As for them running the ball, meh...a trick play possibly, like a WR throwing the ball or something, but other than that, like others have said, it doesn't make much sense.

You already have a RB, a FB and a lot more Qbs using the threat of running as an option, why get too cute for your own good, and bring yet another position into it?
