I woke up early to watch the (association) football, went back to sleep and have just gotten back up.

Three games in overtime? Reggie Bush and Spiller injured? 49ers lost? The feck is going on here?

Jamaal Charles, I appreciate you.

Player clearly down by contact in NO game. What are these referees watching? Retards.

Megatron

I have no idea who the lion QB is, but he's done very well.

Edit: the NFL games are now lasting as long as baseball games, far too slow.

Detroit :nono: take the FG. Great game.

Saints 0-3 :lol::lol:

Miami blocked the FG... BUT they called the TO to ice the kicker. Jets win in the end.

Pats-Ravens later today should be a very good game. Patriots really need to win and the offense really needs to put in a good performance this week.

Arizona with a very impressive win over Philly. 3-0 now for the season and they've won 10 of their last 12 games.

Peyton proving he still can throw deep but the receiver is out of bounds - should've dragged the foot to complete the catch.

I did think the receiver got a little shove there which made the difference.

Houston win.

Good game, Manning had some zip on the deep passes, almost as if he was trying to make a point. Houston were impressive again.

Great game tonight.....Ravens pip the Pats by a FG. The officiating was pathetic.

Didn't watch the game but I know it's the refs fault we lost :wenger:

Seriously, it's about time the NFL got the real referees back. If ESPN is to be believed, they make billions of dollars - share some of the wealth with the referees who by all accords are not asking for too much.

Looks like Welker's now back to being a target in the offense, although I'm not sure what to make of Brady's season so far, only 1 TD on the night. Big respect to Torrey Smith.

Its difficult to judge Brady’s performance without watching the game or based on his TD numbers. He was fine, accurate, showed a commitment to checking to the run and kept them off balance with the up tempo attack. He has not exactly lit up the Ravens in the games they have won anyway, it’s a tough scheme to go against for the Pats. Baltimore made a few more plays when it mattered and I’m happy for Smith.

I expect fines for Belichick, Harbaugh, Reed and Spikes. Maybe more.

Revis has torn his ACL meaning he is likely to be done for the season. Massive blow to the Jets.

That was the worst officiated game I've ever witnessed in the NFL. That was a clear interception at the end, not only that but Tate clearly interfered pushing Shields right before the "catch."

Multiple terrible calls including that 30-yd PI call on the Packers player late in the 4th that kept a Seattle drive going (on 1st-and-25 nonetheless) although GB stopped them only to have this travesty of an official's call rob them.

Sleepless in Seattle. Can't believe GB is sending players back on the field for the extra point. I'd have my team in the lockerroom and would tell the officials to suck my cock. Let the NFL fine me.

The smugness of Carroll, Wilson, Tate, et al for celebrating after the review knowing they didn't win.

If the NFL had balls or any integrity they'd overturn this review.

That was nuts. I don't think any ref could have made that call, it was just too chaotic and not reviewable (God only knows why).

As for the PI, that happens every hail mary. Every single one. It's never called. Can't blame that.

The Shields PI was a joke. No excuse for that, you could see on live tv it was offensive PI if anything.

The most inexcusable thing, for me, was that the refs did not confer and made opposing calls at the same time. Amateurish.

I feel for the refs. Not qualified, they are trying but shit....sometimes you have to try harder. Pack were robbed. And then salt in the wound, review the play (which they shouldn't of) and they still call it a TD.

I'm not quite sure what the refs are asking for in the discussions with the NFL...can someone get me up to date?

I'm remembering this off the top of my head, and it's from a conversation with a mate. So it could all be completely wrong.

I'm pretty sure he was saying that the refs get a salary of something like 250k or 150k a year. Can't remember which. In any case, the base salary for rookie NFL players is 285k, practice squad something like 100k. The refs think they should be earning on par with at least any joe schmo rookie.

Once again, that's a foggy memory of a source with zero repute.

Why the feck did they not overturn it on review? It's a clear interception! fecking hell :wenger::wenger:

I actually fear for the safety of these refs. If they keep making calls like this then eventually some big linebacker is going to snap and break them in half.

That was a proper shit call, I found it fecking hilarious that one ref was waving the play was incomplete and no TD whilst the other was signalling it was a TD. Clear as day on the replay, never a TD.

How they manage to call that one a TD I will never know.

The initial ruling should never have been a TD. Then, the review would not have been able to conclude beyond reasonable doubt that it actually was a TD. I know these refs are doing their best but these past two weeks we've seen some mind-boggling calls. It really is hurting the game.

This is an absolute disaster and it is all Roger Goodell's fault. The greedy feck cost the integrity of the game. Pathetic.

I don't think that twat cares about the performances of the refs. It's all about money for Roger and apparently ratings are up and people are not going to stop watching the NFL at this point. For him, it seems, any publicity is good publicity.

At the beginning of the season, I felt there was a lot of over the top complaining by commentators and fans but I’m on board now. There has been some really bad calls and procedural errors this week. They are trying but were always going to be under a lot of scrutiny/pressure and now seem in over their heads. Pay up to get the refs back, hold them more accountable for their performance and put them under the same microscope that the replacements have been under.

I'm not quite sure what the refs are asking for in the discussions with the NFL...can someone get me up to date?

Forget what you hear about pay rises, more accountability.

The refs are fighting for their pensions.

The NFL wants them on a 401K based pension, the refs want to keep the existing defined pension.

The 401K is obviously more volatile, and the contributions will decrease, so basically they're going to get a smaller pension.

NFL is citing the economy ect ect...which is bullshit, seeing as the league is financially the strongest thing going, on the other hand, other NFL staff have already been forced to change, so why should it be any different for the refs?

The refs conceded to the point where, they wanted existing plans to continue(grandfathered in), but for new refs to fall under the purview of the new agreement, the league refused.

*Average ref makes between 4-8k per game.

Neutral, its probably all a piece of the puzzle. Pay rises and accountability included. Its just that most of the media etc have focused on the pension issue as the most important thing. What about performance of the refs long term? The NFL Referees Association or any other Union etc are usually going to be opposed to pay based on performance but why shouldn’t they be held accountable. Is it not going to be better for the game as a whole?

The NFL wants a bigger group of officials to choose from so they can temporarily drop underperforming individuals. The NFLRA and officials obviously don’t want their per game pay to be cut due to a bad call/decision, so there two sides to it. The way refs would be judged and the criteria used to punish them in this scenario is an issue. Though as a fan its obviously frustrating that a whatever billion a year business is in this position, there are other factors at play.

At the beginning of the season, I felt there was a lot of over the top complaining by commentators and fans but I’m on board now.

A lot was made but it was justified with good explanations, if they were good enough they wouldnt be scabs who are called up in these situations. I do feel a bit sorry for them on some calls which could go either way, but there have been some obvious ones.

Throwing your helmet onto the playing field whilst a play is going on is stupid. But this was the worst one. Having two refs next to each other with one calling it a TD and one calling it off was bad. But then to actually watch the replay and still call it a TD (and then to ask for the extra point which doesnt matter) was just ridiculous.

Wow, the NFL actually posted this picture on their facebook page, fairly misleading (and apparently since removed).

Seahawks.com has the same image and no mention of the controversy.
