Neymar

People are outraging about this like we're throwing in a 50m fee for him. Reports are suggesting a loan and us supporting PSG with the wages. That is an amazing deal with absolutely no downside, helps us bring in an insanely creative and productive player who can beat his man for fun, all at a low price. It also helps us deploy our probably meager funds where needed. Neymar as a 10 could also really exploit Rashfords runs in behind given his elite play making.

On a loan yes please, kind of thing United would do for publicity also. 208m followers on Instagram would have sponsors salivating.

Given Varane has only started about 55% of our league games this season, I'm not sure that comparison is as reassuring as your tone suggests.
Again, given his output, even if he gives us 25 matches a season, on a loan, it's absolutely worth the 20-30 odd G/As he'll bring.

All the people saying no given the conditions given in the article don’t know ball.

Because he is on loan with subsidized wages with no obligation to buy? Unlike those listed only Falcao falls under this category and even he was plagued by injuries more than anything.

I’m not convinced that difference is significant enough to make it worth it.

I’m torn, I want him for his skill and creativity and would be a welcome addition and certainly help elevate us but then the downside, what happens to Rashford and Garnacho, not to mention Sancho? Maybe Sancho is going if this happens who knows. Not only that he dives more than a young CR7 also. We would need some serious midfield reinforcements and we also need a 20+ goal a season player, does he give us that? Easy in the French league but not the PL. injury prone also.
is this another shirt and merchandise purchase also? As I said I’m torn

He's been PSG's best player until the start of the World Cup, best form since a couple of years. But I don't see where he would fit in your team. I'm having a hard time believing Ten Hag would want him. He's very productive but he also loses the ball too often and in dangerous areas. Good work rate off the ball but he stops to track back in the last 30 minutes because he gets exhausted.

Yeah on a loan would be a bit of a no brainer given our limitations this summer. We would likely see this next season, when fit:

Not sure
Rashford - Neymar - Antony
Bruno - Casemiro
Shaw - Martinez - Varane - not sure
Not sure

It's essentially just addressing our midfield signing need with a world class free #10 who offers a lot of what we lack, and then just pushing Bruno deeper where he's capable of pretty much just giving us an improvement there anyway. Neymar works hard (harder for Eriksen that's for sure) so it'd be fine IMO. We need a hard working #9 anyway though to balance Rashford a bit, but the rest are fine.

A fit Neymar is one of the best players on the planet. Even if he plays 25 games a season, it would be a massive boost to the team. He is better than literally anyone we have!

City and Liverpool wouldn't go anywhere near him.

He's injury prone, a drama queen and a total passenger off the ball.

Wouldn't shock me though if it happened. This club hasn't learned anything over the last 10 years.

Would be a bit bizarre given his injury record. Think he’s insanely under appreciated, but I just doubt it would be a move that would end up going well.

No. Get a permanent striker bought ffs. No loans, no buying aging strikers for 1 or 2 years. Get one signed.

A loan would be bloody fantastic. Superb player on his day and our quality of depth in attack would go through the roof.

But this wouldn't affect our ability to buy a striker. It would be both presumably, or if we don't sign one then it means Neymar or nothing.

League appearances in the last 6 years.. 20, 17, 15, 18, 22, 20. He's a joke.

This is not right. He is a battler. I don’t think you have his profile right at all with that comment.

Although I agree with you that injuries are an issue.

If we get Neymar we're not signing another permanently. Not a chance.

I do. I have seen him multiple times lose the ball and literally just stand still.

He's not what we need at all. People already have a go at our forwards for not tracking back enough. Neymar would be worse of the lot. Granted he's probably better on the ball but that's a serious luxury we can't afford.

It's a no for me.

This is something that people who don't watch Ligue 1 or PSG don't seem to realize. He's by far the hardest working of the three up top for PSG.

I'm all for it but why would Psg even want to loan him with no obligation. The deal doesn't favour them

They just want him out and I think Mbappe probably has a say in that too.

An extremely productive, albeit unfit, joke who is levels above anything we have. Even at his current age.

City have scored 91 League goals and Liverpool, even in their horrible season, have 20 league goals more than us. They have fully functional attacks and don't need a Neymar. United have scored lesser goals than Fulham and Brentford and have Martial and Wout leading the line.

I know right. Serious club with Wout. Joke club with Neymar. What on Earth is going on in this thread.
I understand the reservations about him given his age profile and fitness but again, given its being touted as a loan deal, there is absolutely no downside to it and plenty of upsides. Besides, he's less likely to be a dressing room diva with all the Brazilians around.

He's not a passenger off the ball at all but he lacks stamina to run for 90 minutes.

Nice base covering Mark

To be L"Equipe article makes it sounds like no club is directly in contact. it reads like someone, presumably intermediaries are talking to PL clubs including United.

You can tell the people that don't actually watch him from the 'lazy' stereotype. Not actually sure where that came from tbh, he's a lot more of a hard worker than Mbappe for example.
