This role had been announced a while back and it makes 100% sense. John can’t do it all himself & Fletcher’s role is completely different to John’s. Murtough will need help.

Perhaps he is behind the recent changes, I’ll hold my hands up if so. But transparency will be key.

Ten Hag wouldn’t be touching the job if he was just somebody’s puppet and he was comfortable with the clubs structure being sold to him. He’s a no nonsense sort of guy and he doesn’t mess around. A man of principle. He’ll certainly be making demands on recruitment, coaching & training, style of play and how the youth sides are run. He has an uncanny eye for talent and getting the best out of his players. He’ll make players better and he’s a tactical wizard. He’s a very impressive manager. I would put him up their with the likes of Klopp & Guardiola.
You have to consider Ajax work with a similar budget to a championship side, yet every year he still managed to go relatively far in Europe with relatively unknown young inexperienced players and Ajax completely dominated the domestic game in his reign at Ajax. He also made a name for himself working at Bayern München and was rumored Munich’s first choice to replace Kovac and Flick, but Ten Hag had made a promise to Ajax to stay at them each time.
One thing that will have persuaded Ten Hag to join United will be the challenge of rebuilding the club and setting it back on its former path of glory. This appointment is great news for United fans, not so for our rivals! There’s a sense we’re finally starting to get the right football structure at the club, similar to what happened when Fergie was appointed. That combined with our considerable financial clout should bode well for the future, now patience is needed.
Any manager who keeps DDG as our goalie won’t be successful. That’s the change we need at the earliest to become a consistent team.
We've got De Gea one of the best goalkeepers in the world. We've got Maguire who despite all the hate he gets was in the team of the tournament for the Euros. Varane who has won 4 Champions Leagues and 1 World Cup. Shaw who on his day is one of the best left backs in the World. Pogba who has incredible talent. Fernandes who carried us to the top 4 almost by himself the last couple of seasons. Ronaldo one of the greatest footballers of all time. Rashford is frightening when on form. Fred may not be glamorous but still is brilliant. Same with McTominay.
If all those players played to their full potential and the level they can play, we'd be fantastic. And hopefully ETH can get the full potential out of them (plus any new players)

We thought Mou was that guy. We thought Ole was that guy. We thought Ralf was that guy. The problem isn't the manager. There's no way Hag will be running the show. It's board level too. Do you really think he could lost Rashford for sale for example?
Okay. If EtH appointed, shouldn't GK become a priority over night? We handicap ourselves with DDG both in open play and set piece. There are very few out field players that have the aerial ability, pace, technical, vision, football smart... even if we choose to splash money to compensate for DDG's flaw. I don't see those players available, nor us can afford them all in few transfer window.

Not really. Various levels of blind optimism with each one.
Mourinho was coming off of the worst season in his managerial career where he burned every bridge and fell out with half the club. Most people with sense knew hiring him at that point was a much bigger gamble than had we hired him when SAF retired.
Everyone at some level knew Ole wasn't up to it. Given a permanent deal prematurely that he hadn't earned. Passing off his coaching failures as the players' fault. One of the main reasons he was hired in the first place was to appease the marketable but mentally weak players like Martial and Pogba.
And Rangnick was brought in as an interim which meant he was never going to have full authority over the squad, consulting role or not.
Henderson isn't the answer to anything. Even if he is more vocal and comes off his line more. He's too small, not a good shot stopper and his handling is terrible. He's also just as poor as De Gea with his kicking.

That one remains to be seen. Contrary to recent revisionism attempts he was already very involved in the last 3 years. One has to either believe he was a genius being overruled by buffoons or he was just showing up to work to sit at a desk and wait for closing time. In the case of the latter I don't know how it can be spun in his favour that he was getting marginalized in a structure where everyone else was new at their job. He wouldn't suddenly be more influential in relation to the new manager if he was getting marginalised in the fist place. Some of the theories on here about how he could have played no part in the last 3 years have nonsense written all over them.
