Massive job ahead and no fan should either under estimate this or expect minor miracles and a bit like Fergie his first task will sorting out the the pure dross in the way of quality or lack of in the squad, the ones who don’t want to be here and the lame, sick and lazy and not forgetting some of the OAP.

Admittedly this would leave the squad very thin and no easy feat with egos, exuberant wages/contracts they are on and to be honest who would want most of them at the way they have performed/behaved over the last 18 months to either raise funds or clubs to be interested or them wanting to leave and taking pay cuts etc

Not going to be done in one window and will take time but the purge needs to start ASAP after the final game and if this means starting the season with some youth players etc so be it

This shite and rot needs to stop now and rebuild from the bottom up with players who not only want to be here but are hungry and as fans get behind the manager of this is to be the case and understand that this is no easy fix

Reading something other day saying utd could see 11 players leave in summer as being out of contract and ones that can't get a game.

If true that's a good start. Bring in 5/6 players that Ten Hag wants and mix in with good youth. Take few transfer windows to build his own squad but few gone in summer be great start.
Yep that would actually be a great start to a rebuild and getting the players in to fit a particular system/style

I’d say I’m more optimistic about Ten Hag than any Manchester United manager appointment in my lifetime
I think it's a bit clearer now what he's coming into do. Before, the manager was brought in to sort everything. I feel like we have a structure in place, where he can focus on coaching the players into a style agreed on throughout the club. It feels like it could be the first step in the right direction for our future - long way to go mind!

That was a very Dickish move from the club.

Definitely has to be up there with the biggest cock ups in English football history. Imagine Chelsea did that, the media would mention it numerous times every season.

I think he will be a great appointment, however, just like I said with Sancho.. I don’t think he is going to hit the ground running. Not necessarily because of ability or experience but because your club is in a hole bigger than the Mariana Trench. In the long term I believe he will set you up for success again.

That was pretty shitty too. Sacking him the night he won the FA Cup. We may still want Pochetino in the future though so can’t see him not knowing if we’ve decided. Maybe he’s asked for feedback
"You came across very well, Mauricio. Answered the questions well and, on another day, you would've got the job. We'd love to hear from you again and will keep you on our records!"

That’s pretty poor if we’ve leaked who we’re getting before telling Pochetino. Refuse to believe that.
Why do you care so much about Pochettino feelings? He will be fine.

I feel it’s a risky appointment but I’m glad we are trying something different with regards to a manager appointment.

I really hope he will get the support he needs so we finally have a manager that can steer us in the right direction.
Our problems run deeper than the wrong manager appointments unfortunately and I hope we’re not looking for yet another new manager in two years time.

Does Ten Hag have a history of working with older players ?

Wonder how he would manage the likes of Matic, Ronaldo.

"Hi Mauricio,

Thank you so much for your interest in the Manager position with United. We appreciate you taking the time to visit our offices and interview with our team.

At this time, we have chosen to proceed with another candidate who has more leadership experience. However, we were impressed with your background and Premier League experience and feel you would be a great culture add for our company.

We will be posting manager vacancies in the future, and hope you’ll consider applying again. Otherwise, we wish you the best of luck in your career endeavors."

There! :D

Absolute PTSD from this. God the amount of times I’ve been in the final two or three and received this email.

The only way he should manage them is to let them go.

What the feck is a deputy football director? Assistant to the assistant of the assistant regional manager?

He won’t fix everything but this is a positive start to this almighty rebuild task. Next is the dross of a squad we have assembled.

One thing that I think is key for ETH teams is such a positive and cohesive squad. He's got to be allowed to move on the "personality" that will seek to throw him under a bus. Especially the ones that threaten transfers when poor form means they are benched

Would actually not like Steve McClaren, only because its been a long ass time since he's been at United

Here's your daily reminder the great minds running the club went and renewed his deal weeks into Ole's sack form when it should have been obvious not to. Woodward's legacy in safe hands. This club throws away money for fun. We have a lot of it so stupid decisions like this just get swept under the rug. We're run like your typical Government administration except of a 3rd world country where they don't have to hide borderline illiterate decisions.

 Good to see I'm not alone in having to read / hear that bullshit!

I'm hopeful about Erik but I'm also worried he will just fall into line like our previous managers and build around a midfield of Mctominay.

We need major change

Anything is possible with United, but why would Ten Hag come to be somebody's puppet? Not only he has a lot of options for clubs to join, he is also very rich through his family so he is certainly not coming here for salary.

Jose kept on about knowing how to win, yet brought in quite non Jose players.

He's big on dominant centre backs, yet in Bailly and Lindelof brought in 2 with very little aerial dominance.
And Lukaku who is the size of a target man, but nothing like one.

The whole thing was like an exercise in we need to employ Jose just to scratch that itch finally.

I feared we'd do the same with Poch, but the early noises sound positive on the high ceiling Ten Hag.

Obviously it can still very much not work, but it feels like the first time we've looked at a guy doing well at a strong European history club, yet to come to his peak.
Fingers crossed!

I can't wait to see our first 3 signings this summer. Hopefully we get them in early for once.

Yeah very classless and toxic kinda foreshadowed the whole mood that we would go through under his tenure.
While I don't agree with you on Sancho ( I was very tepid on his signing) I am very cautiously excited about ten hag though this club has disappointment written in its DNA by now.

(On a side note , Chelsea did have it's fair share of controversy under roman and even before, no?)

A new deputy director is on the way too

Ah yes, what we really need ontop of our Manager, Chief Scout, Football Director, Technical Director and whatever the hell Rangnick appoints himself as is yet another voice in the decision making process
